Kittiwake One is a one bedroom self-catering apartment located on a private lane overlooking Woolacombe Bay. From the property's hilltop location, which commands a view across miles of North Devon coastline, Woolacombe beach is a 10 minute walk downhill. The return journey depends on how fit you're feeling, although there is a bus service which drops off during the summer just 100 yards from the front door!

The location is quiet and peaceful, yet only fifteen minutes from the main facilities of larger towns such as Ilfracombe and Braunton. The apartment enjoys easy access to all amenities, including several centres for outdoor activities such as climbing and horse riding. For those interested in more leisurely pursuits, the walks along the coastal path are hard to beat.

The local restaurants offer excellent choices of surf, turf and everything in between for those meals when you don't fancy taking the self-catering too literally - you are on holiday after all!

Inside the apartment, the living room forms a focal point for entertainment on days in. Lounge around on the armchairs or sofa and make use of the board games and books while you play your music on the iPod dock, or settle down in front of the TV and DVD player to catch the shows you can't live without. Free wi-fi means you can catch up with entertainment or friends online while you enjoy your break. The living room leads out to a patio (sometimes called our breakfast room) where you can enjoy the view across miles of coastline from the picnic table.

With one double bedroom, Kittiwake One is ideal for couples looking for a romantic getaway, with plenty in the surrounding area to see and do during your stay.

About Mitt and Claire Nathwani

We're a couple from Oxfordshire with a young child. We love the great outdoors and are particular fans of seaside locations, which explains the location of our holiday home in Woolacombe! When we're not busy working or running around with our son, we're normally found either reading, at the beach, or both.

We've been running our apartment as a holiday let since summer 2012. We hope you'll consider staying at Kittiwake One, but wherever you choose to go be sure to have a great break!

In short, the view!

It's hard to describe in words quite how spectacular the view is from Kittiwake One, suffice to say that it was love at first sight for us!

If we have to pick another reason we love the place, it's the position over Woolacombe. Kittiwake One is at the top of a hill which means that in the summer you're away from the crowds whilst in the winter you're high up enough to watch storms roll in from a long way out to sea. It's a simply beautiful place to relax and get connected with the coast.

What makes this apartment unique

Aside from Kittiwake One's perfect location for Woolacombe Beach (far enough to be quiet and close enough to check the surf from the window), for us this place is all about enjoying the spectacular view from the patio.

We can't say it enough but enjoying everything from breakfast to an evening glass of wine is a special experience!

This is a throughly recommended place to stay, adequate for two people. Self contained, cosy and with beautiful views of the coast. Clean and well furnished.

Close to Woolacombe beach/town, 20 min walk but up and down a very steep hill - at least it works off the pint on the way back.

Owners were quick to respond to any queries and very helpful. Will definitely be going back.

Amazing little flat with a perfect view!

I booked to stay at Kittiwake with my daughter late last year for a weekend of walking, photography, and generally getting away from it all.

The owners were really helpful in terms of giving me advice before we arrived. It wasn't just the essentials they helped with, but the extras like where the best walks and photo spots are. We arrived late at night so got a bit lost but Mit guided us in by phone (which was very much appreciated!).

On first impression the flat was well kept and clean. The bed was comfortable, as was the sofa bed that my daughter slept on.

Because it was late we didn't get to appreciate the view until the following morning buy, oh my it was a surprise! It was a clear morning and we could see right across the bay - just beautiful!

We spent most of the stay out and about during the day (Exmoor Zoo was a particular favourite) but in the evenings we cooked dinner at the flat. The kitchen had pretty much everything we needed to make some nice meals and, since it's open plan with the living space, it's a really good layout for relaxing in.

Our only regret was that we didn't get to stay for a bit longer but we'll definitely be back in the summer!

lovely views of Woolacombe

The property was compact and clean. The furniture however was tired and both the sofa and bed were very uncomfortable. The added but not necessary welcom extra, was a black cat jumping through the bedroom window at all hours of the day and night. We needed the window open to cool the room down so perhaps a fly screen would fix the problem for those not keen on cats jumping on them in the night. Generally an OK place

Excellent and cozy

We really enjoyed our stay at the apartment. When we arrived at the apartment it was a cold rainy day. When we opened the door the heat was already on for us and we felt right at home. It was an excellent place to relax and recoup from our day trips. I love that it was recently refurbished so everything was new and clean. You can hear the people upstairs from time to time but it didn't take away from our relaxation. If you are looking for a cute little get away place near Woolacombe/Ilfracombe I would highly recommend this place.

Good base with amazing views

This is a good base for exploring the surrounding countryside and villages. Amazing views overlooking the beach and has everything you need.

Only things which let it down was noise heard from people walking in Flat above and the noisy sofa. Can't do much about the people above but please change the sofa.

Tea, coffee etc provided for a much needed brew when you arrive is a lovely touch.

Overall lovely property.

A lovely place

Very well equipped with everything you need. The bed is lovely and comfy. The view from the apartment is beautiful and the drive down into town and Woolacombe beach is only 5 minutes. Woolacombe beach is amazing and very beautiful with soft sand. The apartment was immaculately clean and the owners provided a booklet with local information and details about how everything in the flat worked (heating, DVD player etc) which was helpful. Free Wifi worked brilliantly and was essential for us. Only small downsides were sometimes you could hear people in the flat above walking around but it didn't really bother us. Also, there is an abandoned car down the lane where the flat is situated. It is a shame that the residents don't take more pride and ask the local Council to come and tow it away. Despite this we loved the accommodation and loved Woolacombe and will be back soon!

unbelievable accommodation

well, all i can say is WOW! what a place to stay. The best holiday we have ever had, granted it was our first but we can't see it being beaten any time soon. the weather was awful, but that didn't dampen our spirits excuse the pun ;) the bed was... brilliant, for what we wanted it hardly made a sound, and with kids next door that can be a life saver. the walk to the beach was magnificent until you go back! all in all we won't be going back anytime soon
