Relax on our large balcony with stunning views after a day on the slopes, or out in the beautiful Austrian countryside. Snooze by the pool in the summer, and sleep in the most comfortable beds, with crisp white linen and fluffy towels. Our spacious apartment, in a converted Chalet, is ideal for families and couples alike. It's brilliant for skiing/boarding in the winter, and walking, cycling and outdoor adventures during the summer. Alongside the Schmittenhöhe with 77 kilometres and the Kitzsteinhorn with 41 kilometres of ski slopes, the Maiskogel family mountain with 20km of slopes also has excellent winter adventures in store, with excellent snow-making facilities on all slopes. Saalbach/Hinterglemm is only 20 minutes by car too.

The Ski Bus is free with a Lift Pass and only a few minutes walk from the apartment. You can see the Maiskogel slopes (Kaprun) and Kitzsteinhorn Glacier from the balcony and the substantial Schmittenhöhe ski runs (Zell am See) are a short 10 minute Bus or Car journey, with free parking.

The Tauern Spa is just down the road, as are two supermarkets and various very good restaurants.

The views from the balcony are breathtaking and the sight of the sun coming up or going down behind the snow capped mountains is a memory that will stay with you forever.

It has 2 large double bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, 2 toilets and 2 spacious walk-in wardrobe/dressing rooms. The open plan kitchen/living room has a sofa-bed, flat-screen TV and DVD player. All rooms open out onto a large south facing balcony with panoramic views of the Grossglockner mountains and valley below. The property also benefits from a heated outdoor pool, residents' lounge, free WiFi and private garage. It is a true year-round location with superb outdoor activities available in the summer, such as cycling (off-road and dedicated tracks), wonderful scenic walks and water-based activities on Lake Zell. It is also ideally situated for the ski season, which starts early in Kaprun. The Kitzsteinhorn Glacier offers year-round skiing and the apartment is only 80 yards from the ski bus, with Zell am See, Saalbach, Mittersill, Bad Gastein, & Kitzbuhel within 5-45 minutes away.

The kitchen is very well equipped and the local food shops very good, so you can easily self cater. However, there are a number of excellent restaurants to suit every budget in Kaprun and Zell am See for those that prefer to eat out.

An added benefit of the accommodation is the services of an Onsite Building Manager, who is available each morning. You will also be visited by our Housekeeper, Gerdi, who can talk through restaurant recommendations, sites, ski areas, etc.

The apartment benefits from a 15 metre long heated outdoor pool which is open from May to end September. There is an adjacent grass area and sun loungers for relaxing. From here the view across the Hohe-Tauern National Park to the Kitzsteinhorn glacier and Kaprun ski areas is breathtaking. There is a lockable bike store, private garaging for 2 cars and a new, large ski/boot room with heated racks is easily accessible on the ground floor, near the main entrance.

Our apartment is ideally located for taking full advantage of the superb hiking and biking trails, both through the valley and in the mountains. You can even walk directly from the apartment to the top of the Scmittenhohe slopes, which are immediately behind the apartment and run directly down to central Zell am See. Local bike hire can easily be arranged and we can also arrange guided hiking tours, both half and full day!

My name is Catherine, and my husband and I are the owners of the apartment. We have one daughter and live in Essex. I worked in the City of London for 20 years, but gave up work to look after our daughter. I am now actively involved in our local community and I'm also a Justice of the Peace.

Why Catherine Marks chose Nationalpark Hohe Tauern

We had been looking to purchase a holiday property for some time, without much success. When we saw the details for this property we acted uncharacteristically quickly and decided to go ahead and buy it. We are all keen skiers, so this area is perfect, particularly as the Kitzsteinhorn Glacier provides guaranteed snow. But as the apartment is within easy driving distance of some many other resorts, the scope for skiing in years to come is virtually endless. But we wanted more than just a winter holiday from our apartment. Having just spent two weeks there in July 2011, there was so much to do we didn't want to leave. With temperatures averaging higher than London, it is a perfect spot for outdoor activities and marvelling at the wonderful scenery. We hope you enjoy it too.

What makes this apartment unique

The view from the balcony and windows is what really makes this property special. When you wake in the morning, with the sun filling the room, you can see the valley and snow-capped mountains beyond from your bed. All the amenities of Kaprun and Zell am See are within easy reach and the quality of the restaurants is really quite amazing. The outdoor heated pool is also a real bonus, whether for the children to play in or to relax in at the end of the day. And as the sun goes down, just sit back on the balcony and enjoy a cold glass of Gruner!

A well proportioned, modern apartment within a traditional Austrian chalet.

This is a clean, modern, well maintained apartment, ideal for families or friends sharing. The bedrooms are a good size and there is even a walk in wardrobe.

The kitchen lounge area is great if you are up for cooking however, Kaprun and the general area is serviced by unbelievabley punctual taxis that will take you to a wide range of restaurants.

I am a repeat vistor to Kaprun and have stayed in this apartment 3 tmes.

The ski area is vast with something for all abilities. Importantly the mountain eateries are of a high standard and reasoably priced.

This is a nice apartment in a nice area you won't be disapointed.

Fantastic Apartment

Really impressed with this apartment, completely as described. Two good sized bedrooms/bathrooms with a good set of amenities. I traveled with my son and daughter with there partners, end we all enjoyed our stay. The location of the apartment suited as. If I had to make a criticism it would be that there was no cleaning products available. I would definitely consider renting this apartment again. Thank you.

A beautifully positions and equipped Chalet

We enjoyed our stay between Feb 20th and 25th very much.

The chalet is extremely comfortable, well equipped and the surroundings are tremendous. The Landhaus Samer Matzen just down the hill is a wonderful place to visit. Breakfast there on the day we left at 9.00 am is something to remember.

I am sure you will welcome some constructive comments relating to the Chalet as we saw it:

• When we arrived, there were no towels for one room, no dish cloths and no soap in either bathroom. When Gerdi arrived she was able to get towels, dish cloths but only one piece of soap.

• There were dishwasher tablets, but apart from that the cupboards were very clean and completely empty – I know your information did not promise there to be any supplies, but perhaps some washing up liquid, salt pepper and one or two other essentials might be useful.

• During the first day I sent the following text to Gerdi : Just to advise that neither bath taps work to fill the baths. Maybe blocked by limescale. This in both bathrooms. Also for info 1 curtain hook broken in bedroom 1 when we arrived.

And her reply: You need to apply real force when pulling to change from shower to bath. It does work though. Thanks for letting me know about the curtain

• As you will appreciate you have some pretty high end Grohe Brand mixer taps in the Chalet which normally work very well. If we had applied any additional “real force” to the tap, I fear we would have broken it or the bath. The flow, if wishing to fill the bath, was extremely poor, so we needed fill it via the shower. The shower heads are also leaking from all directions out of the top, perhaps because of lime scale build up – I’m no expert, but I think it needs attention rather than “real force”

• The whole chalet was very warm, in fact we completely turned off the radiators for the entire stay. I am assuming you have underfloor heating but there was no obvious control for it, so thinking of your own running costs – its burning money. Yes it was a warm period, but even when the outside temp was around zero we felt the need to venture outside to cool down.

Catherine, I hope you don’t receive this as a lot of whinging – we understand what it is like to manage a house remotely and hope the above will help avoiding problems.

Our stay was memorable, and I hope you will find the above useful. Feel free to edit out the "maintenace" feedback and just post the relevant enjoyment bits.

Regarding the supplies, I have checked with Gerdi and she confirmed that at the beginning of February, there was olive oil, salt, pepper, sugar, two lots of hand soap and a large washing up liquid in the apartment. It's very unfortunate that these have gone missing in the intervening period and I'm sorry you were inconvenienced. Gerdi and I have spoken and we now have a plan to ensure it doesn't happen again. I note your comments about the bath and shower, and this is now being dealt with. The Chalet is very well insulated (The Austrians are very good at this!) and the temperature is controlled by the radiators only, we don't have underfloor heating. We find the tilting windows useful when the rooms get a bit too warm. Kind regards, Catherine

Spacious and Great location

The apartment is ideally located for visiting the High Tauern National Park and we support others comments about things to do and see and the convenient access via road rail or bus. A range of supermarkets and restaurants are are readily available in Kaprun so you can eat in using the full featured kitchen and dining area or the first class balcony of course, or eat out.We traveled by car and the undercover parking was appreciated. Views are indeed excellent with several glaciers to see and a light dusting of snow on our penultimate day there further covered the mountain peaks as the icing on the cake so to speak. Spotless, spacious, comfortable, well located and we highly recommend Catherine's apartment.

Very smart and spacious apartment

Thanks, the apartment was lovely, very large and well equipped. We stayed June 2016, just the two of us but we could have had a bathroom each! Spotless Fantastic balcony with great views. Nice warm pool. Would definitely recommend it.

During our stay we visited ; Krimml water falls ( awesome), the High Aline road to see the glacier ( which was a breath taking journey ), the Sigmund-Thun gorge ( which is really close but really beautiful plus the quiet lake behind) , Schmittenhohe ( which had fantastic views but quiet expensive ) and Salzburg (which was quite nice but very busy). We didn't eat out in the evening but all the lunches we had were very tasty. Recommend the Paragliding with Sky-42 who are based between Furth and Kaprun and the flight down from Schmittenhohe was fanstastic.

Great holiday, only marred but England's pitiful performance in the football!

Fabulous apartment and location

We had a fabulous week! The apartment has stunning views from the balcony, is well equipped and with two bathrooms ideally suited for our daughters. It was also spotlessly clean.

Both Catherine and Gerdi, the caretaker, gave us useful tips before and upon arrival.

Transfer from Salzburg airport to Furth (via Zell am Zee) was easy with an hourly service. We were able to pick up food essentials at Salzburg station. The apartment is five minutes from the halt served by the local train.

Frequent local buses plus the local train gave easy access to Krimml waterfalls, Kitsteinhorn glacier, Zell am Zee. Kaprun and the Tauern Spa were within walking distance (1.5 and 0.5 miles respectively). There are lots of beautiful walks both on the level or more strenuous hill walks depending on your preference and the area has well maintained, clearly marked cycle routes with both buses and train able to carry bikes.

Restaurants in Furth and Kaprun produced delicious food. All in all a wonderful holiday - a week was not long enough and we will return. Thank you for letting us stay in your apartment.
