About this property

Rustic Mountaintop Solitude - Secluded but convenient with spectacular views

The Lodge is a unique, spectacular mountaintop haven, crowning the 215 acre Bearwallow Mountain Ranch. At 4000 feet the temperature and pleasant breeze offers the ultimate mountain experience. Enjoy the stunning mountain views and acres of manicured meadows surrounding the lodge. Amble along the miles of roadways, paths, and marked hiking trails on the Ranch enjoying the forest, landscape, and clear mountain air. Hidden down a 3/4 mile private rustic drive and far from neighbors, The Lodge is the perfect secluded haven yet accessible to all the amazing attractions of this beautiful area.

Temperatures are very cool at night and the daytime stays comfortable and 6-8 degrees cooler than the lower elevations of Asheville and Hendersonville. 15 miles or less to Biltmore house, Chimney Rock, Asheville, Lake Lure, and the Blue Ridge Parkway make it ideal for taking in the surrounding area and then sinking back into the quiet comfort and peace of this amazing Ranch.

The Lodge is a vintage, great-timbered apple barn lovingly converted into a modern retreat that retains its mountain heritage and charm. Reclaimed wide plank flooring, historic brick, massive wooden beams reaching up to a 27 foot ceiling, and touches of days gone by offer the sense of gentler time. Yet along with the past, you will find that The Lodge's rustic elegance comes with all the modern conveniences.

Every chef's desire is here in the 30 foot galley style kitchen. With 12 foot chef's counter - it makes cooking for a crowd a breeze and plenty of room for help in the kitchen. Move the kitchen outside to your 6 foot grill area.

The timber frame interior with rough-sawn cedar walls, antique brick, and spacious living area provides for a large number of people but with multiple groupings of intimate seating. Italian leather furniture and sprawling custom seating appoint the living space with elegance and comfort.

The eight bedrooms are thoughtfully furnished and decorated with your comfort in mind. Antique floors, warm woods, and giant -beamed ceilings offer character to each bedroom. Outdoor living is at its ultimate at The Lodge. With a 1,800 square foot main deck overlooking the meadows and mountains and total 2,800 square feet of decks on five levels, you will find your favorite spot to join the crowd or relax in quietude. Relax under the pergola, soak up the sun in the lounge chairs, or kick back under the covered seating enjoying the shade, or perhaps rain on the tin roof. The east deck offers a wonderful dining area for a scenic sunrise breakfast or supper under the stars with a 30 mile view. Fourteen feet up on the second floor, the "Sunset Deck" is the perfect place to tuck away alone with a book, nap, or enjoy the display of vibrant color as the night approaches.

The Lodge is a place of charm, peace, and natural beauty. Its unique features and amenities will provide you with a vacation everyone will treasure for years to come.

Note 1: We are ideally suited for events and often welcome them with prior approval. However, we require porta-potties to be rented and recommend event tenting to provide for rain.

Note 2: Our seclusion creates an obundance of wildlife experiences. Black Bears, Deer, Wild Turkey, Two Golden Eagles, Foxes, Coyote's, Bobcats etc... wander through the property at will. Due to this, please understand that we do not allow pets.

College Women Reunion
We wanted a house that had amazing views and that we could each have our own bedroom. All beds were comfortable and the kitchen well appointed. We enjoyed the easy to use propane fire pit and the fall leaves came into full color during our stay-the perfect Fall Foliage experience. Trails and other outdoor activities are within walking distance. Dina was very helpful and responded immediately to our questions. We asked and were allowed to check out a bit late so we could enjoy the fall foliage a bit longer and not sit at the airport waiting for our flights.

Beautiful Mountain Vacation
Stunning views and a spacious lodge! We spent a long weekend for my bachelorette trip and we couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay. Waking up each morning with the sunrise over the mountains watching the sun set from the hot tub in the evening. All the furniture was comfortable, including beds, living room, and outdoor seating. We absolutely loved our stay.

Great retreat
Great retreat. The views are awesome and back deck, fire place, and Jacuzzi were perfect. The rustic interior was exactly what we were looking for in a mountain house. The driveway is long and it takes about 35 minutes to get to downtown Hendersonville. Plan accordingly. The rooms are on the small side but most of the beds were Queens.

Great Weekend on the Mountaintop
The property is expansive, and the views are stunning. Hiking very closeby, breweries 15min away in Fairview, kayaking in Saluda, and Asheville within striking distance. There was even a large, level field for us to play wiffleball. It was not clear to me (based on the listing) that the owners live next door to the cabin, but this presented no issues as they were very welcoming and accommodating of our large group. A+ stay.
