Parwin & David purchased Blue Rock in 2012. Parwin is a school teacher and was born in the Punjab and David is a Chartered Surveyor and was born down the Road in St Columb Major.

Why David & Parwin Summers chose Saint Ives

David's dream has always been to own a property close to a great surfing beach and with spectacular sea views. Parwin, on the other hand, is a self-confessed chatter box who enjoys the arts and likes having lots of people around her.

They started searching for a holiday home in June 2012 but got off to a slow start as they were both looking for different properties.

Fortunately, their search came to an abrupt end when they found a house that ticked all of their boxes. Blue Rock is within easy walking distance of the centre of St Ives, overlooks Porthminster beach, the sea and the harbour. It is also close to Porthmeor beach (one of David's favourite surfing beaches) and has great car parking. What more could anyone ask for?

What makes this house unique

This lovely detached holiday home is superbly located 4 minutes walk from the centre of St Ives and 5 minutes walk from the Blue Flag Porthminster Beach, and has stunning views of the harbour and the sea.

With stylish interiors, this reverse level architect designed holiday accommodation combines the charm of the seaside with 21st-century convenience. Perfect for families or groups of friends.

St Ives was awarded ‘Best UK Seaside Town’ in both 2010 and 2011. With cobbled streets and artists’ studios, it is a great place to chill out in pavement cafes or gourmet restaurants. The Tate gallery is also worth a visit.

Blue Rock is an amazing holiday home!

This was our third visit to Blue Rock! We absolutely love St Ives and this holiday home is a true Gem!!! The views are stunning, the accommodation is always immaculately presented, well equipped, the quality is exceptional and no matter what the weather....it is the perfect place to stay. Great location to explore the beautiful beaches in the area and a down hill walk into St Ives takes only a few minutes (maybe a little longer on the way back!!) Can highly recommend it....you will not be disappointed. (Great communication with the owners too - and they allowed our dog to stay too!!)

A Fantastic New Year at Blue Rock

From the moment we opened the front door of Blue Rock and saw the light streaming in from the upstairs lounge, even on a cold December day, we were wowed by this property.

It was such a pleasure to wake up to the views of the bay, with St Ives harbour in one direction and Godrevey Lighthouse in the other. The well equipped kitchen / dining room also has balcony access so even when cooking and eating you can take advantage of the views. The kitchen had every utensil that you could possibly need to cater for 8 and it was great to have two fridges. All bedrooms were beautifully decorated to a high standard with big comfy beds.

We stayed as two families with one dog and the house made it so easy to relax, play games and generally enjoy lots of family time. Even the little extras have been thought of, board games, wii console & games and books and leaflets with ideas for days out. The parking is a real asset too!

Everything from booking to arrival ran smoothly thanks to the very friendly and helpful owners, David & Parwin. Their fantastic customer service and love for Blue Rock made it a real pleasure arranging arrival and departure details and we even received a courtesy follow-up call once we arrived home.

During our stay we managed to get out and about every day and took advantage of the local area, walking on the beaches and into the town, which took about 10 minutes - Blue Rock is in a perfect location.

We went further afield and visited the Cornish Seal Sanctuary in Gweek, Cornwall Segway on Goonhilly Downs and the Mousehole Christmas Lights. On New Year's Day we walked the coast path from Sennen Cove to Land's End, a perfect start to the New Year!

We have stayed in St Ives on many occasions and we are so pleased to have now found this little gem that is Blue Rock - we have already booked for next year!

Perfect getaway in St Ives

This awesome home is the perfect getaway for a large family to enjoy the delights of St Ives! The views over the bay are simply stunning!

We have rebooked for 2018 and the owners have been very flexible in changing dates without charging a booking fee.

Please ignore any negative comments posted here in recent months, this place is amazing and you won’t regret booking this place!

Beautiful property with stunning views.

This was our second visit to Blue Rock and hopefully not our last. The house is beautifully presented, well heated, important in the winter and equipped with everything we needed. It has the most amazing views out over the sea to Godrevey and down to the harbour in St Ives.

Despite poor weather on this stay the shops and restaurants are quick and easy to get to even pushing a pram. We have stayed in and around St Ives many times over a lot of years and have never found a better property.

Nice

Bit disappointed with the outside of property, we were looking forward to a bar b que on the balcony, the weather was in our favour but all the furniture etc was covered or put away for the winter, fine, but you do pay for all facilities as advertised, also a very slippery deck area, could do with a scrub. Outside areas need a bit of TLC. For the money we paid I expected a bit better. Last property we stayed in over Christmas we had Christmas tree etc, on our arrival. However we did go and buy one to make the property more festive. Our dogs found all the stairs (3floors), a chalange, they are older dogs and the stairs quite steep. There was no place to walk dogs except for the beach, quite a steep treck back. All in all the house is very well equipped, beds comfy but one bathroom between 4 bedrooms is a bit tricky. All in all nice holiday, but wouldn't return.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. I comment as follows. We cover all the balcony furniture in Winter to protect it from the elements and keep it as nice as possible for our guests. All guests are free to use the BBQ all year round as set out in the User Manual. We have just spent thousands of pounds replacing the decking with state of the art, non-slip decking so I can only apologise if you found it slippery. Over the past five and a half years, since we have owned the property, our guests have preferred a bottle of bubbly and chocolates instead of other benefits such as Christmas decorations. The property has 2 bathrooms which guests usually share, one on the lower ground and one on the middle floor. We kindly allowed you to have 3 dogs to stay at the property instead of 2, free of charge, and we could have provided you a list of suitable walks for your dogs if you had requested.

This delightful seaside town, with its unique art scene and award winning beaches, is the perfect place to explore, have fun and relax.

How To Find Us:

From the M5, take the exit onto the A30 towards Bodmin and Okehampton. Now go through 3 roundabouts, which will take about 1 hour 42 minutes. At the next roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto Nut Lane (A3074) and continue through 3 roundabouts, this will take approximately 8 minutes. Now turn left onto Albert Road and take the 1st left onto Porthminster Terrace. From there, take the 1st left onto Talland Road and Blue Rock is the white architect designed property on the left hand side.
