Overview

About the property

2 bedroom, 2 en-suite barn sleeps 2-4 with rural and mountain views

Teach na mBo is in a beautiful part of the Connemara National Park? The Wild Atlantic Way runs down our small lane to our local pier where we have one of the best views out to the Aran Islands and the cliffs of Moher.

Our traditional, 2 bedroom cottage, situated on our small working farm, combines the traditional cosiness of a thick-walled stone cottage with all the requirements of modern home living - including WiFi. PLEASE NOTE THIS PROPERTY IS NOT SUITABLE FOR CHILDREN UNDER THE AGE OF 5.

The main living area is open-plan with wooden floors, beams and a turf-burning stove which gives off the tantalising smell of Connemara. Turf (peat) is provided. Patio doors open out onto the small paved walkway to the house and give views of the shared garden and out towards fields bounded by the traditional stone walls found in this part of Ireland.

The main living space also includes a dining table seating four. Our fully equipped, contemporary kitchen area has granite worktops and the integrated appliances you would expect from a home of this quality, including hob, fan- oven, microwave, and dishwasher. A comfortable sofa, chairs and lovely soft furnishings complete the look. A small flat-screen TV is provided with satellite freeview channels, Irish channels and a dvd/blueray player.

The wooden floor is carried through to Bedroom 1, which has a traditional cast-iron framed, Kingsize bed with hotel quality mattress, topper and all bedding. There are plenty of built-in wardrobes and a hotel-style tiled, large en-suite with bath and large, separate shower.

Bedroom 2 is accessed via a flight of steep stone steps down to a twin room - again with high quality soft furnishings and bedding. This room also has a hotel-style, tiled en-suite shower room.

There is also a US-style laundry cupboard housing a new washing machine and separate condenser dryer.

Outside there is a dedicated parking space and extra parking in the shared farm yard - access to a garden, a small paved area, a BBQ and outside eating space with table and chairs.

We have aimed to provide a home-from-home and you are welcome to help yourself to anything else you might need from our garage which contains a shared table tennis table. If available you can borrow stuff for the beach - chairs, portable BBQ, fishing nets for rock-pooling - just help yourself.

At a glance:

Sleeps 4 adults in comfort

2 large bedrooms 2 en-suite

Not suitable for children under 5.

My wife and I enjoyed the property from day one through the week we spent there.. The market up the road was very convenient. Local Pub was enjoyable. Shopping down the road was perfect.

Comfortable cottage; perfect location!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I have just returned from a weeks stay here and we've had a lovely time. The cottage is well equipped, very comfortable and clean. It is ideally located for exploring the local area and there is lots to do. The owner supplied plenty of information regarding wants available in the local area. I would recommend this property.

Tastefully and thoughtfully restored.

  • 4 of 5

The cottage was very comfortable and clean. We were a couple however it is spacious enough for 4 people. It is a quiet location near a beach. It wasn't beach weather and we were not in the Connemara to swim as we are from Australia. The cottage was fully equipped with modern appliances. There is a 'Costcutter' supermarket at the end of the road which adequately supplied our needs. Overall it was a very pleasant stay.

A wonderful cosy cottage in a superb location

  • 5 of 5

The cottage is delightful and I would recommend it to anyone. Janet and Michael were onlymthere for a day of our visit but it was lovely to meet them. We had wonderful walks to the deserted beach and a few trips out especially in the evening to the delightful local pubs to,listen to the music.

A perfect base for exploring the west of Ireland

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed in this cottage for a too-short 6 day visit in blustery march weather. It was miserable outside but so comfortable and cosy in the cottage, and with rain gear on full display we trekked about and had a great visit - it would be even more wonderful in nice weather! There are a month's worth of activities to pursue, from history to hiking to swimming to pubbing to scenery-gaping, plus the full slate of activities Galway city has to offer. I would love to come back some June for a longer stay; this place is a gem.
