Rose Cottage and Lilac Tree Cottage are pretty, traditional Irish cottages which date back to 1860. They are located on a street of stone cottages on the edge of the small historic village of Greyabbey with its Cistercian abbey dating back to 1160. The abbey is set in beautiful parkland and is just across the way from the cottage, the perfect spot for walks and picnics. Greyabbey has a number of historic buildings and a selection of antique and vintage shops, restaurants and coffee shops.
The cottages have been recently renovated and are furnished with a mixture of vintage and contemporary pieces yet maintain rustic charm with all modern home comforts.
Rose Cottage is deceptively spacious with a large living room, master bedroom with ensuite bathroom, large kitchen with dining area and a sunny courtyard perfect for alfresco dining.
Lilac Tree Cottage is quaint and cosy with a sizeable living room, seperate kitchen, 2 bedrooms, bathroom with overhead shower, large decked area and pretty garden with views of the Abbey.
Rose Cottage has been featured in "25 Beautiful Homes" and "Ireland Homes & Interiors" Magazines.
The cottages are within easy walking distance of the abbey, local park, boutique shops and restaurants and just a short drive to the beautiful beach and harbour of Ballywalter. Major supermarkets and amenities at Newtownards are just 10 minutes drive away. All major attractions of Strangford Lough are on your doorstep including the pretty villages of Portaferry and Strangford, the historic town of Downpatrick and stunning National Trust properties and gardens at Mount Stewart and Castleward. All the major attractions of Northern Ireland are accessible including Belfast just 30 minutes drive away, the Mourne Mountains 50 minutes drive and the North Coast with the Giants Causeway 1.5 hours drive. It is a superb location for a family holiday as you have a wealth of options to chose from - a fabulous long sandy beach, play parks, aquarium, petting farms, play cafes, adventure playgrounds, canoeing, windsurfing and quad biking to name but a few! The cottage is equally suited to a romantic getaway or family holiday.

Simply, it was love at first sight! We couldn't believe how spacious the cottage was and loved the original features. We knew it would give us great pleasure to renovate it and bring it up to modern standards while maintaining its charm. We hope we have succeeded!
Rose cottage is a lovely characterful cottage with a lot of charm and yet all modern conveniences. It enjoys a peaceful location right at the edge of the village which has lovely antique shops great for a potter and a peruse. The coffee shops 'The Hoops' and 'No.14' are both excellent as is the Wildfowler Inn and Restaurant which has won a number of awards. A close drive away you have Harrisons coffee shop and garden centre which has a large terrace overlooking Strangford Lough. It's location is stunning and the perfect spot to enjoy a coffee or a meal. Eden Pottery just outside of Millisle, 10 minutes drive, has great coffee and homemade fare to enjoy. You can also pick and paint pottery if you fancy. You are also a short drive to Ballywalter, a lovely beach perfect for walks, rock pooling and making sandcastles of course! We also love the fact that the wonderful National Trust properties of Mount Stewart and Castleward are on the doorstep. The gardens and lake at Mount Stewart are particularly special. Any number of outdoor activities are available including canoeing, horse riding, windsurfing and sailing. Despite its peaceful village location you are easily accessible to all the main tourist attractions of Northern Ireland. We believe it is the perfect location for a romantic or family holiday!
We do not offer refunds however payment will be returned in full (minus bank charges) if we can re-book the cottage
The cottage has all that is required for a relaxing stay in Greyabbey, clean, tidy with all mod cons included. The village is well situated for exploring the Ards peninsula, Strangford Lough and south Down. There are plenty of excellent pubs and restaurants in the area, including in the village itself and there are many places to visit close by of both historical and natural heritage interest.
Beautiful cottage well equipped and ideally placed for so many attractions, had a wonderful holiday
Rose Cottage met and exceeded my expectations! I I would highly recommend this little cottage if you are looking for authentic Irish! Janet was the perfect hostess and made us feel so welcome.
Rose Cottage is a lovely cottage, that is very well equipped. Very stylish indeed. The kitchen in particular is very spacious and has a warm feel. Janet made us feel very welcome.
Had a lovely stay in County Down. We enjoyed grey abbey itself a lot and explored the whole area. We would recommend Castle Ward and Mount Stewart.
The place itself was lovely and we relaxed thoroughly. We found everything we needed within the cottage and we enjoyed the décor and ambiance.
This charming and delightful cottage captivates the imagination and creativity of the owners Janet and Ken. The cottage displayed lovely artefacts and each room had its own personality.
On arrival the lights and heating were switched on and a welcome basket of lovely savouries and wine were appreciated.
The cottage is clean, comfortable and well equipped. Logs were in the fire basket but were not needed. There are two barn doors and it was lovely listening to the world passing by and birds singing. We enjoyed a cuppa out in the secluded patio area displaying plants and lighting.
We met Janet who is a charming hostess and knows how to spoil her guests.
The cottage exudes tranquility at its best and we enjoyed our stay so much and have rebooked. The village and surrounding area are a magnet for touring and a "get away from it all" break.
Thank you Janet and Ken for the lovely memories.
