About the property

2 bedroom, cosy cottage, close to restaurants and amenities

Blue Door Cottage is located in the charming village of Porthleven with its harbour, beach and a selection of good restaurants within just a couple of hundred metres. The cottage has a double and a twin bedroom, comfortably sleeping four to five guests. There is a full size single trundle bed available for a fifth guest if required. Outside there is a small seating area next to our palm tree for outside dining.

Heading west on the coastal path you can explore South West Cornwall with its rugged coastline dotted with fine beaches and on to Mounts Bay and St Michael's Mount. Head East and just a short walk to Loe Bar and the National Trust owned Penrose Estate then on to the Lizard Peninsula, the most Southerly Point in Britain, with its stunning views, coves and amazing wildlife - a must for all keen birdwatchers and wildlife enthusiasts.

Within a short drive the historic and popular town of St Ives (20 minutes), Lands End (35 minutes) and the golden sand surfing beaches of Praa Sands (10 minutes), Sennen (35 minutes), Gwithian (20 minutes) with our favourite, the breath taking Kynance Cove (20 minutes).

A real gem of a place both cottage and Porthleven. We had a really lovely stay very sunny, spent quite lot of time beach and harbour. Lots to see in this part of Cornwall too. Mousehole, coast and round to Ives. Didn't have enough time see everything or try restaurants which looked good. Will have to come back. Owner very helpful too. Thank you.

A beautifully presented cosy cottage

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed a week here during the Easter holidays at the blue door, communication was great from the start. The cottage is cosy and has everything you need for your perfect holiday. Great location just a short stroll from the harbour. A very Cornish welcome with scones clotted cream and jam ( and a bottle of wine !) a perfect start to the perfect holiday. Lots of lovely places to eat, Rick steins definitely worth a visit and also the harbour inn does a proper burger! There Are lots of other restaurants too. A great vibe in Porthleven and a great place to base yourselves for some amazing coastal walks and hidden coves along the lizard peninsula. Thanks Phil, we had a lovely stay at the blue door.

An ideal base to explore the area

  • 5 of 5

We were met by the owner and made very welcome, with a cream tea, and bottle of wine

The cottage was exactly as described, everthing that we needed, and was clean and bright.

I would definately recommend the Blue Door to friends, and would return myself.

The bus service was great, didn't use the car all week, able to go to St Michaels Mount, St Ives,

Penzance, Minack Theatre.

Also a good coastal walk

Location was really good, a few minutes walk from the harbour and shops.

Rooms were clean and well kept, comfy beds and linen and towels provided! Perfect little home for a week away. Hope to come back again!
