About this property

Lake House with Swim Area, Dock, Deck, Canoe, & Paddle Boat (1BR+, Sleeps 6)

Loon's Nest was recently purchased in the spring of 2017 and renovated to be family friendly, open, and comfortable! It's a great cottage for a family or couple to enjoy the lake and all it has to offer!

We purchased and renovated our first house on Norcross Pond in 2016 (a 3BR+ down the lake - VRBO#886930) and were so excited when this smaller camp came up for sale on the same lake in 2017! We spent the spring of 2017 renovating and had a full house of guests all summer and fall! We hope you enjoy sharing our Maine getaway. You can see some of the renovation and lake photos on Instagram @LoonsNestMaine

House: The main living and gathering space is on the upper floor (kitchen, dining, living room with pull out sectional, and full bathroom), downstairs is one bedroom (queen bed, pull out full size sofa bed, and desk). Bedroom also has room for a pack and play (available upon request). Both levels have huge windows that overlook the lake and the new deck. There is a full kitchen equipped for cooking and a vintage oven and cooktop that you're sure to enjoy! The house has a re-built deck, morning coffee area off the front of the house, and a "happy hour" deck down towards the beach. There is a small front patio (non-lake side) with a charcoal grill and seating area as well. Also, if you're coming with little ones, there is plenty of baby/toddler gear available if needed (high chair, pack and play, books, crayons, paper, games, toys, kids plates/cups/bowls/etc).

Lakefront and Lake Description: Stairs lead from the house to a private beach area
with dock, canoe, and paddle boat available for use (included). Norcross Pond is one mile long with camps and homes along one side only – keeping the lake quiet. Water is clear and the lake has a sandy bottom for great swimming. Speed boats, pontoon boats, and jet skis are allowed, but since the lake is small you don't gets boats out all day. A boat ramp is available if you want to bring your own boat to park at the dock (note, the boat ramp is dirt and steep). The lake is full of bass, perch, and stocked with trout, so bring your fishing rods no matter what season you visit. There are also nearby places for blueberry picking, hiking, movies, ice cream, restaurants, etc. The lake is amazing for fall foliage and is in close proximity to Mount Blue, Tumbledown, and Other hiking mountains for fall.

Local Things to Do: hiking, blueberry/strawberry/apple picking, movie theater, ice cream, lobsters, restaurants, markets, festivals, fair, antique shops, biking, breakfast at the Post Office Café (a must!), skiing, snowmobiling, and more.

Nearby Excursions: Farmington, Belgrade Lakes, Mount Blue, multiple ski mountains, Sandy River Railroad, DEW Animal Farm, Norlands Living History Center, Golf (Turner Highlands, Sandy River, Wilson Lake, and others), U Maine Farmington events, and more. Lots of excursions (hiking, skiing, ocean, and more) within 1-2 hours - Maine coastal towns (Camden, Rockport), Rangeley and Saddleback Mtn, Sugarloaf, Bethel/Sunday River Mtn, and more.

Treehouse on the pond
Such a cute little cabin perched on the shore of the pond. It’s been remodeled for modern comfort (including the best ever shower in a camp!) while keeping lots of retro cabin feel. And the views from both levels are amazing, like being in a treehouse! We stayed here while visiting Manchester for a Maine Cabin Masters lobster bake, it was a perfect location, a nice country drive about 25 minutes away. We really appreciated being able to bring our young Lab, who had a blast diving off the dock and swimming in the pond. If you’re bringing a dog who isn’t a swimmer, there’s no real yard for exercise and the “relief” area is the parking area across a fairly busy road. The steps to get into the cabin and down to the lake are very steep, but new and very safe with sturdy handrails. Communication with the owner was excellent, wi-fi and TV worked well. We had everything we needed in the kitchen and plenty of blankets, etc. to enjoy our short stay. Highly recommended!

So beautiful on the pond, loved fishing, canoeing and listening to the Loons. Great spot to get away from it all.

Fantastic home!
Fantastic house perfect for a relaxing getaway! Everything is updated and clean, filled with charm and all you need. It's located on a beautiful lake with a fantastic dock and bonus pedal boat and canoe. Laurie was also very kind and a pleasure to communicate with. She provides a lot of useful information upon booking and at the house about the cute surrounding areas which is great :) We would definitely recommend!

About the host

Laurie grew up in Maine and spent summers on this lake her entire life. He parents now live on the lake year round and her grandparents and uncle are here all summer as well. Laurie's family has been summering here since her grandfather bought some lake homes here after returning from WWII and the lake is full of families who live here year round or return year after year.

Why they chose this property

We purchased this house in the spring of 2017 for our extended family to enjoy when they come visit. We live in NH have two little kids who love the lake, boating, etc. We are so excited to share this wonderful lake with other families!

What makes this property unique

Norcross Pond is only one mile long, which makes it the ideal size for all activities. It's easy for families with kids to enjoy boating, kayaking, fishing, etc - and you can still see them no matter how far they go! Also, with the other side remaining wooded property, every house looks out over the lake with a view the trees along the other side. The lake is also a wonderful fishing spot, with bass, perch , and stocked trout as well. In the winter, you can ice fish, snowmobile to the main trail system, ice skate, and snowshoe as well.
