Our home is located in Pensacola's original water company, an industrial brick building with steel trusses, brick walls, arched windows, and concrete ceilings. It was built in 1907. It has been featured on HGTV's Rezoned. Our loft is on the second floor and is reached by stairs. It is not accessible for those who have mobility disabilities. The space is light filled with two clerestory windows that run along the length of the building. The ceiling height ranges from 13 to 25 feet. There is an enormous great room. There are three bedrooms and two baths on this floor.
There are several other loft apartments and an office in this building as well. If you need additional space, it is possible to rent the downstairs area or other units in the building. Downstairs there are five additional bedrooms, two baths, and a great room with a pool table. There is also a kitchenette.
Our building is located on the north edge of downtown and the east edge of the North Hill Preservation District, in the Long Hollow Neighborhood. Across the street is the First City Art Center where you can take a class and the Long Hollow Neighborhood Park with a labyrinth and a sculpture park. Palafox Street, Pensacola's main street, is 1 1/2 blocks away. There are many restaurants, music venues, bars, and parks nearby. It is 15 minutes by car to Pensacola Beach on the Gulf of Mexico. The Naval Aviation museum is about 25 minutes by car.
Other things to note: The walls separating the bedrooms are eight feet high and the ceiling height is between 13 feet and 25 feet. This is a historic building with five different units in it. There will be some sound transfer between units and there is a train nearby. Sound machines and earplugs are available in the unit if desired. There are steps up to the unit.
