Super location in comfortable, light, airy house.

  • 5 of 5

As two retired couples, one from America and the other, England, we thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Ceret. An easy journey from Barcelona we arrived in the village on the last day of the cherry festival and were immediately swept up in the celebrations. We bought the first night' s supper from the wonderful cheese, bread, pate and other food stalls lined up along the streets.

The house is a pleasant stroll away from the town and well situated at the end of a road at the foot of mountains which give fantastic views from the bedroom windows. The terrace at the back is large and we ate all meals outside there, the only sounds being birdsong, figs falling off the tree or the occasional flock of sheep passing by on their way to new pasture. The swimming pool is small but perfect for cooling off in the full heat of summer. On a previous visit, my family lived in it! The house is really comfortable and well equipped, and if there are any problems there is Jay right next door to sort it out for you.

Ceret is a charming village with a choice of bars and restaurants as well as historical architecture and of course a church! Just strolling through the tree lined streets in between beers is a very pleasant way to pass time!

Spain is an easy drive away: we went to Figueres to the Dali museum for a day. Colliure a pretty fishing village on the coast was a particular favourite for us and if you are a golfer, there is the most stunning course high up in the Pyrennees about an hours drive away in Domaine de Falgos. Of course there is plenty more. We were only sorry not to have had more time!

Beau séjour à Céret

  • 5 of 5

Stylish house, lovely terrace with gorgeous views.

  • 5 of 5

This was our ?8th time at chez Bannister so that in itself tells you how much we love this house. This year's photos captured the plus points well and give an accurate impression of what awaits. Jay, who manages the property, is right next door and attended promptly to the problem we had with a washing machine. She was warm, friendly and helpful but did not offer too much advice as she was aware that we know the house and the area well.

Breakfast on the terrace is a joy, with lovely views across the valley and the range of books available in the living room is a big plus. The kitchen is well equipped with really good knives and pots etc and the house generally is comfortable and welcoming.

The town of Ceret has lots to offer, a lively market, lots of cafés and restaurants and attractive tree lined avenues as well as interesting little streets in the older walled part. Spain is close for excursions as is Cathar country.

We have found the house perfect for a relaxing holiday and have loved our time here. Our only small quibble is the lack of wifi!
