Great beach holiday villa

  • 5 of 5

This is a well-equipped and nicely laid-out home that I'd heartily recommend to families looking for a beach-based holiday with a little sightseeing thrown in.

The house has everything you need - including a dishwasher - and sitting on the balcony or terrace as the sun beats down is joyous. When you want a dip, the beach (very clean, very long, very nice) is a five-minute walk away.

For home cooking, there's a small shop in Alcamo Marina with lots of basic supplies. A big Carrefour supermarket is a five-minute drive uphill.

For dining out, though, you should know that the village has only one restaurant, and while the food here is perfectly fine, the ambience is more that of a caff than a big night out. That said, Castellamare del Golfo is only a few minutes by car; it's full of restaurants, some basic, some fancy, all serving local fish dishes, all worth trying.

Unless you're happy to sit in the sun/on the beach all the time, I think you have to hire a car to get the most out of an Alcamo Marina-based holiday - but once you've decided to do so, this is an ideal spot for seeing Western Sicily. Enjoy.

Fantastic villa, great location

  • 5 of 5

Have not long returned from a fantastic week in Alcamo Marina and are already planning our return! Tony, the owner was incredibly helpful, providing suggestions for places to visit (Segesta, Erice, San Vito Lo Capo beach,Castellammare del Golfo) all well worth a visit, as well as some great places to eat - not to mention the ice cream...Nothing was too much trouble for Tony and he made every effort to ensure that we had everything that we needed to make our stay enjoyable. The local beach was clean and only a short walk away - and never got particularly busy. All in all an ideal location for adults and kids alike - have already recommended it to family and friends!

Fantastic Villa

  • 5 of 5

We....2 couples have just returned from a fabulous holiday in Sicily, love it so much we cant wait to go back, the Villa was better than described... a real home from home but with the beautiful views of Alcamo marina, it was just perfect to watch the locals go about their daily business, even being woken up by the cockerel and the little daily bread van made us feel as though we were in the real Sicily, our neighbours were all very friendly & we managed to have a bit of a conversation with them, the Villa is in a good location for exploring the north of the island, there is a railway station in Alcamo where you can get the train to Palermo....so easy no driving through Palermo and the train goes along the coast, I could go on for pages about the area but the main thing was that the Villa was clean, well equipped, comfortable beds, weather was beautiful what more can I say....

Great, Peaceful Holiday

  • 4 of 5

Had a wonderful time in Sicily, the weather on average was around 27degrees. The villa itself is wonderful, very well laid out and great tiling to boot. Will test your driving skills to get up the ramp, but once you are in then you have plenty of space for a BBQ, or a rest on the landing. Has everything you need in terms of equipment, great selection of books which i read two of, and i do not really read. Bed was comfortable and is enough room for 6 people.

We tried our hand at cooking spagetti, and the kitchen had all that we wanted, tried the local delights such as the fish, prawns and wine, what more can you ask for.

Recommended.

Many thanks

Rav and Reena

Beautiful villa, wonderful holiday

  • 5 of 5

This was our third visit to this villa in Alcamo Marina, and we once again had a wonderful stay here. Infact since our last stay two years ago, the owners ( who are very accomodating and friendly to deal with) have carried out some work to the inside making one of the bedrooms more spacious than before.

The property is accurately portrayed in the discription and photographs, and is always immaculately clean and well maintained. There are plenty of towels, linen, and everything you could need provided, and the layout of the property works well.

The second shower room was a godsend for showering sandy children without having to traipse through the house first, and the built in barbecue was a nice touch too.

We would definitely recommend that you hire a car if visiting this area so that you can make the most of the various sights to see. A few 'must sees' are Scopello (good snorkelling), Erice, a medieval city at the top of a mountain, Templa Segesta ( stunning, well preserved Greek archaelogical ruins) San Vito beach and the Aqua Calda hot springs swimming pool, to name but a few.

There is an excellant Carrefour supermarket five minutes drive away, and a market in Alcamo itself every Wednesday and Saturday.

A holiday to this place will be varied and interesting, and will give you a taste of real Sicilian life, away from the other tourists!

Alcamo Marina stretches along the coast for approximately four miles where it joins Castellamare and Spiagetta. There are many restaurants and bars dotted along this coastline. There are some fantastic restaurants and bars in the Port in Castellamare and La Gambusa comes highly recommended by locals. Some further 3 to 4 miles further are a few places I can recommend. Guidaloga has a beautiful beach and a little further on you will come across the little village of Scopello with its stunning views over the coastline. There is a very good restaurant with open air tables called La Terraza, which overlooks the sea and does amazing seafood dishes. If you like walking then there is the National Reserve, Zingara which is a nature park that is high on the cliffs overlooking the sea. There are also thermal baths close to the train station in Alcamo called Aqua Calda....600 metres from the house towards the beach theres a great restaurant called the Bahia its a family run and well reccomended..and mention my name you will get 10% off your bill
