About this property

Cloudcroft Area Glamping Tipi Mountains Forest Trees Hiking

Staying in Dancing Bear Tipi, an authentic Crow Tipi is sure to be one of the most unique and special experiences of your life. The Tipi sits on a wooden deck in a beautiful location among the pine trees. It comes complete with queen size bed, comfortable cotton sheets and warm comfy quilts on a pillow top mattress. There is a wrought iron candlelight chandelier that hangs above the bed for a wonderful romantic touch. The smoke flaps can be opened at night for a wonderful view of the stars while lying in bed. There is a large futon inside the tipi also. We can also add a cot so 5 people can stay in the tipi. Children are welcome and will have an awesome time staying in a real tipi.  This year we have added electricity to the tipi!! There is now a small refrigerator and plugs to charge all your devices.
There is a small table and four chairs, a barn wood chest that holds dishes, silverware, cooking utensils, drinking glasses, etc.  with a propane coffee maker that brews hot coffee or hot water for tea. A blanket chest sits at the end of the bed with extra blankets, coverlets for use outside by the fire, games, books , first aid kit and a map of the area. Towels, wash cloths and hand towels are provided also. There is a blue tooth lantern provided for light and listening to music. We do not allow smoking in our tipi.
Outside a propane grill is provided for your cooking needs next to a picnic table.  A fire pit sits right outside your tipi with adirondack chairs and camp chairs to sit on while making s’mores and memories. The wide-open spaces and lack of light pollution outside the tipi make this an ideal location for stargazing. Relax in one of our hammocks with a book or just take a nap while listening to nature.
A private flushing toilet is located only steps away. Close by is a spacious outdoor shower with hot water and a dressing room. There is a sink for hand or dish washing next to the shower. The water from the sink is cool clear well water from our house system, great if you want to make coffee or fill water bottles. A large mirror is attached to the shower also.
As our guest you will have everything you need and more for an  unforgettable glamping experience.
Guests are welcome to explore the forest and take a hike on the adjoining Lincoln National Forest.
We charge a $45 cleaning fee and an additional $25 fee for up to 2 pets.

We were disappointed but the owners are lovely people
When my husband and I were searching for a unique experience and the tipi came up the pictures were amazing and we booked right away because we were looking for a private and quiet weekend. We were under the impression the tipi was solitude with the owners a far distance away but the tipi was off the driveway and very close to the owners home and busy driveways. The landscape was cluttered from fire and rain runoff and looked like normal Maintence and clean up is never done. The outhouse was cute but the shower is shared with all the guests (There are 2 tipi tents that was rented by another family) and it was close to the main driveway and uncomfortable to use. If we were in our twenties i think it would of been fine. The tipi looked nothing like that beautiful night photo that got us to book our trip here. The inside was dirty and it had an old bed (not the beautiful set up in the photos). We felt mis lead and there for disappointed in our decision that we traveled 3.5 hours for what was really there when we arrived. The owners are a wonderful couple and very friendly and welcoming but we felt our money was wasted this trip. We booked for the entire weekend and left after the first night. There are so many beautiful places to camp I wish real up to date photos were available on the booking site. It would of made a big difference.

Glamping at it's finest
This was the perfect get away, very peaceful and our hosts were so kind and helpful. We truly enjoyed every moment at the tipi. They have the necessities to keep me comfortable but rugged enough to make my husband feel like he was truly camping. We will be back for future trips for sure!!!!!!!!

Rustic and Comfortable
My wife and I are a retired couple that love to camp; however, like most folks at our age, sleeping comfortably is something we must have. We were not disappointed in this regard as the tipi had a very comfy queen-size bed that was very warm for us. The property owners supplied the camper with other conveniences such as a porta-potty, a shower with hot running water and a gas-operated fire pit. The property is quiet in a forested setting and it was a wonderful place in every way. Our only surprise was that the tipi leaked water more than we had anticipated and it rained on us several times during our stay. The weather also gets much colder than we expected (in August) at night, so make sure you take warm clothing with you. Overall our stay was very relaxing and restful. It is truly "glam" camping and it was wonderful.

About the host

My wife and I are very fortunate to live our lives in the Sacramento Mountains of southern New Mexico. We are in awe of the high mountains and absolutely spell-bound by the wildlife that abound in our own backyard. We are proud and honored to be able to share our passion for the mountains with you.

Why they chose this property

It's a real Indian tipi! Who doesn't want to come to New Mexico and stay in a tipi. Plus its "Glamping" which is camping without really camping.

What makes this property unique

The tipi has a queen bed with quilts and a down duvet cover. There is a candlelight chandelier over the bed. A chest holds towels, wash cloths, games, cards, etc. Then there is a barn wood chest that holds the dishes, utensils and pots and pans for cooking on the propane grill just outside. Fire pit with chairs for making s'mores and star gazing. It's a very unique experience.
