Castle on a cloud

All is not what it seems in this spirited home. At first glance, the polished original features recall the most formal Brooklyn townhouse – rooms all clad with carved wood panelling. But look closer, and you’ll see that the modern additions might have been summoned up by one of whimsical imagination: funky furniture and fun playthings are hiding for all to seek. And outside, Park Slope is enchanted byways and sunny lawns. Whether you're strolling along the shady residential streets, or settling in at a local café, you'll soon find yourself beyond the scope of a tourist’s map.

Sitting comfortably

Your hosts are a family who love their neighbourhood. When they're not playing in the park, or out and about in Park Slope, they’re travelling to unusual destinations.

Magical realism

The spell will be upon you from the moment you slip through Prospect Park III's iron gates. Inside the sculpted intricacies of the woodwork are fascinating, while throw pillows and art add bursts of colour – shaggy rugs and glossy tiles creating sensual texture. It's easy to fall into a reverie in the back garden, or drift into daydreams on the white couch. Kids will take to the play area, where a pair of chairs and a roll-top desk are just the right size, and even adults have to wind their way up the spiral staircase to the majestic master. Both bedrooms are touched with fantastic original details, like intricate parquet floors, mirrored fireplace mantles and charming bay window nooks.

About Owner / Property Manager

onefinestay gives you the chance to stay in someone's place while they're out of town. You get to live their life for a few days and nights.

Booking a stay is as easy as booking a hotel room. And there's service to match.

Nobody wants to be a tourist, so our homes come with recommendations from the people who live in them. For everything else, we're here 24/7.

Why Owner / Property Manager chose Brooklyn

If you’ve ever wondered where hip people go when they grow up, the answer lies in Brooklyn - Park Slope, to be exact. In this idyllic yet unfailingly cool neighbourhood, parents don plaid flannel to push their top-of-the-line strollers, fliers for French immersion preschools are tacked up in organic coffee shops, and frozen yogurt toppings are crafted by Bouchon-trained pastry chefs.

Stroll through the brownstone-edged streets and it’s all too easy to see what drew the cool kids to these parts. Romanesque revival townhouses and Queen Anne-style homes fill the landmark historic district next to the lush expanse of Prospect Park.

The Brooklyn Museum holds court in all its Beaux-Arts glory, bringing culture and cutting-edge art to New York’s most populous borough. The Brooklyn Botanic Garden provides Mother Nature with a stage for her exquisite tricks, from the exuberant blooming of the cherry blossom trees during spring to the explosion of fiery leaves come autumn.

To meet the demands of its exacting population, Park Slope’s restaurant and bar scene is vibrant and varied. Locally sourced 'New American' fare is as easy to come by as Filipino dishes, and bartenders are well-versed in microbrews, vintage bourbons and classic cocktails.

What makes this apartment unique

Booking a stay is as easy as booking a hotel room, with online payment and confirmation. You get the same attention to detail and personal service too.

Every home is properly cleaned before and after you stay, beds made (we can even do hospital corners) and bathrooms kitted out with luxury toiletries. There’s a maid service if you want it, as well as other hotel-style amenities.

Once we’ve helped you settle in, we’re just a call away, 24/7. If it’s something we can’t solve over the phone, we’ll pop over to lend a hand.

And because nobody wants to be a tourist, our homes come with personal and unique recommendations from the people who live in them – places to eat, things to do and adventures to go on.
