Tel: 07752059460. My husband grew up in nearby Barrow and, as a family we have explored the area with our children for many years. Keen to continue this even when his parents were no longer around, we fell in love with this cottage which we think is in an idyllic location. Although we live more than 200 miles away, we get up whenever we can - our dogs are in their element at the cottage and run for miles across the sands. Our children as adults visit with their friends - taking the opportunity to go for long walks, bike rides, paddling their kayaks and flying kites.
Rose purchased this bungalow in 2006
We had no intention of purchasing a property but it was one of those moments where we both fell instantly in love with the cottage and location and knew we must have it. We've had no regrets and, besides letting it out, ourselves, family and friends have had many magical holidays at the cottage.
The cottage is cosy and quirky and equipped with everything you may need - hopefully! Dogs are safe in the grounds of the property but so near the beach for long walks. You can relax in the privacy of the gardens on sun loungers or choose to sit on a raised decking so you have a stunning view out over the bay.
Location, location! stunning views from the conservatory and gardens over Morecambe Bay with the hills of the Lake District in the distance. The seclusion and tranquillity of the cottage - no near neighbours. Pubs (and food) 5 mins walk away, one dog friendly. Vast sands to walk out on (ideal for dogs). Amazing bird life in Morecambe Bay can be viewed from the property. Ideal base for exploring Southern and Western Lake District or just going for walks and bike rides from the property.

This is a great place to stay. The cottaage is cosy, clean and warm. It has a big conservatory to view the beach and sea. Just a few steps from the garden and your on the beach, great for dogs children and grown up children. Just a few miles from a town but the peace and quiet is amazing (in fact the town is very peaceful too). We love Gillions tea rooms in Ulverston, very old fashioned just like the town itself. We cannot come back for a few years so will miss Maskel beach.
We had a lovely, quiet few days. The kids enjoyed the space, we enjoyed the peace and quiet and we all enjoyed being right on the beach, the dog especially. The cottage is warm, homely and has good amenities. There is a good range of garden birds, with lots of huge windows to watch them from. The natural light here is amazing and on clear nights you get great stargazing because of the lack of light pollution. Rose was lovely to deal with and we will book again.
It was our 4th stay and this gem of a cottage and it was so good to return! What a wonderful place to stay! Opening that gate onto Morecombe Bay is bliss, sitting in the conservatory and looking out of an evening is bliss! It's a really comfy home from home place for us. We had a break of 2 and a half years due to buying a motorhome but as soon as we opened that door, we realised how much we missed it! So much so, we booked it again for September before we left.
Thank you Rose and Bob for sharing such a special place, we really do feel at home there and can't wait to return.
It was great for the children and the dog as they had lots of freedom up and down the beach front. As a family it was lovely going for lots of walks and exporling
It is fair to say the property could be modernised a bit but we loved our stay. The kitchen was adequately equipped with an efficient oven. Living room was comfortable and the log fire a delight which kept us cosy at nights. We also enjoyed the dining room.
By far and away the highlight for us was the location. Walking the dog on the beach directly from the bungalow was special!
great location, good walks along beach, great for bird watchers. accommodation very comfortable an well equipped, love the conservatory.
Pet friendly, Maskel Beach is situated in an idyllic position on the beach on South Lakes peninsula. Lake Windermere is 20 mins drive, lively town of Ulverston with its many festivals is 4 miles, Buddhist Centre 2 miles, bird watching over Morecambe Bay from the property. Excellent walking and cycling from the property. Secluded, private grounds but also magnificent views over the bay. Many good restaurants nearby, including within walking distance and dog friendly. Please be aware the foreshore is 10m of stoney beach before the sands.
