It would be hard to find a more tranquil, beautiful location. The accommodation is all on one level tho there are 4 steps (with handrail) down from the parking area.

The property is secluded but only a 5 min walk from the village of Baycliff which has 2 pubs serving food.; 2 miles from the Manjushri Buddhist Centre and 4 miles from the lively market town of Ulverston with its many festivals - including Lantern, Flag, Music and Dickensian - and excellent shops - independent ones plus the wonderful Booth's supermarket, M&S Food outlet and large Aldi. There is the fascinating Laurel & Hardy museum, a twice weekly street market, Christmas Market alongside the Dickensian festival and a whole programme of festivals throughout the year, including several music festivals, walking and cycling festivals, print makers festival. Ulverston Leisure Centre is on the road from the cottage.
The famous Roy's Ices can be found on the road into Ulverston - try flavours you've never heard of before! You can also walk here (about 30mins) along the beach from the cottage.
Nearby Barrow in Furness has much of interest including the Dock Museum for a rainy day! Furness Abbey is a stunning example of a Cistercian Abbey - and the cafe is great!
Take a ferry over to Piel Island and explore the wonderful (free) National Trust Castle before refreshing yourselves at the pub on the island.
Other nearby attractions include the South Lakes Wildlife Park and Brockholes Outdoor Adventure Park.
There are plenty of great walks and bike rides from the property itself (including Birkrigg Common with its stone circle.)
And all this before you even begin to venture into the Lake District proper!
