Chequers is perfectly located a 10 minute walk to the beach 20 minute walk from the main shopping centre but it is far enough from the centre of town so you are never disturbed. Recently refurbished mid 2013 with new furniture inside and out and retiled you can't forget the terrace with is a great sun trap from 8am till 8pm. The terrace is large and is great to sit on in the evening all round perfect place to unwind.

We have just had two wonderful weeks at Chequers and will most certainly returning again hopefully later this year. The apartment is clean, comfortable and has a great large balcony which DOES have the sun all day long. It was also nice to have a proper fridge freezer, Sky TV. and washing machine all of which work lovely. Jamie is a very nice person to deal with also, he is polite, friendly, professional and answers any questions quickly. Thank you Jamie for making our stay so pleasant.

A property that fulfilled my needs

I was looking for a space to enjoy Gran Canaria. Chequers was the property that provided that opportunity for me. Puerto Rico is a quiet inlet on a coast that hosts a lot of people for holidays. I was looking to get some heat on my body and to be able to walk rather than stay on the beach. Chequers is about 15 minutes walk to the marina/beach. It is also very close to a beautiful hill walk that I really enjoyed. I was on my own- I'm not too sure of the space for three people-yet everyone's need is different. I booked with just a few days notice. It was my first time using HomeAway. I didn't give the home owner much time to arrange for me to get keys yet he managed it and kept assuring me that it would work out.

The restaurants, taxies, busses to and from nearby resorts and tour coaches were plentiful as were the boats. I really enjoyed the week and yes I would go back to Gran Canaria and stay at Chequers. Seán from Ireland

Stunning appartment!

The whole place was extremely clean, the kitchen has everything you might need the fridge is a holiday changer! Easy to park and you don't have to climb 300 stairs to get there!

Good location, just what we were looking for!

The apartment is a short step away from the mountain walks, one of the paths leads downwards to Amfi del Mar beach, and then on to Playa de Patalavaca beach, and then onto Arguineguin sea front, which is good for walkers. Chequers is in a very quiet location, there is a small shop which has everything, just behind the building. A bigger supermarket just down the bank. The apartment has everything you need, it is well equipped, and has UK TV by WIFI and a DVDs player. The large terrace & swimming pool face the sun & catch it most of the day.The restaurants in the Olas shopping centre are excellent and have plenty of choice, the walk back up the hill keeps you fit and isn't too bad. The restaurants are a little cheaper a little further down the hill on the sea front. All in all, we had a lovely stay, and some lovely walks, and a trip on the ferry to Puerto Mogan is definitely worth a visit. Taxis are cheap only 3 euros, in case you can't be bothered to walk back up the hill. Would certainly come back again!

Good exterior, poor interior.

The property is situated in a nice, quite and sunny location as described in the advert. However, the interior is tired and is in need of refurbishment. The sun terrace furniture is past the use by date, with some items in a dangerous state. Upon arrival, the cleanliness of the facility was far from ideal.

Owner's Response: Unfortunalty I was only told about the furniture by this guest any cleaning issues will be brought up by me with the cleaning company which as stated on the advert must be paid locally however the above guest didn't pay

Overall a good apartment with a lovely sunny terrace.

This property is at the top of a set of apartments so gets sun on the terrace all day long. The short walk to the bars, large supermarket and marina was great although quite a climb back up so definitely for the more energetic although taxis are available at all times. For a few things a small supermarket was just a few steps outside the apartment door. We always hire a car so we can drive to see other places and there was always somewhere to park when we got back. Jamie was very helpful and friendly to deal with, and answered our emails promptly.

Lovely place to stay highly recommended

Stayed before here and the best recommendation they say is to return.

Just the same lovely place and only a short walk to some nice places to eat.

No problem booking either and very nice person to deal with.
