Overview

Description

Villa Arktos

Villa Arktos is the largest of three villas set in their own grounds in the peaceful area of Pefkias, in the hills above Skopelos Town. This villa enjoys fabulous views from the pool and pool terrace down the valley and out to sea. It has two double bedrooms, one sleeping gallery with a double bed suitable for children and two bathrooms.

INTERIOR

Villa Arktos is laid out on one floor and entry is into the open plan living/dining room and fully-equipped kitchen, complete with dishwasher. The sitting area has two comfortable couches and the dining table is placed in front of a big picture window which overlooks the swimming pool and large pool terrace. The two double bedrooms sit either side of the living / dining room to maximise privacy. One hallway gives access up a short but steep ladder/stairway to the small sleeping gallery, which has a double bed especially suitable for children, as well as the spacious wc/shower room and double bedded room.

About the property

Pefkias is a place to truly relax. “For peace, privacy and postcard-worthy views in a great location, Pefkias is - quite simply - perfect.”

Here and there you'll see old stone villas and hushed holiday homes peeking out among pine trees, olive groves and fruit trees. Naturally, the views here are superb. Look down to the wooded valleys and out to a sea that sparkles alluringly in the distance. If you're a fan of walking and hiking, you'll be in your element here. Pick a path down to the beaches of Limnonari and Agnondas. It'll take about an hour on foot but the sight that greets you is prize enough, with velvety sand giving way to warm crystal waters.

And even if you don't want to wonder that far, whichever direction you head in you'll come across bubbling springs and dinky chapels hiding in the hills. With its beautiful scenery and laid-back vibe.

Translate the name and you'll start to understand a little more about Pefkias. It's Greek for Pine Tree so it'll come as no surprise that sun-dappled pine forests cloak the place, their sweet scent filling the air. Pefkias is a rural pocket of Skopelos with an enviable setting. It's only a ten minute drive down to Skopelos Town and ten minutes in the other direction to the pretty fishing village of Agnontas. Plus it's a few minutes' drive from the beaches that gild the southwest coast, among them one of the island's most seductive sandy stretches, Limnonari.

Fabulous, secluded villa with amazing views - a great place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned from a two week holiday spent at this villa and I would really recommend it. We are a family of five and there was plenty of room for us all. The pool is lovely with fantastic views, but if you want to venture further afield there are some lovely beaches and coves just a short drive away. We went out most nights to Skopelos town (a 10 minute drive away) where there are many bars and restaurants, but the villa is very well equipped if you choose to eat in instead and sit back and enjoy the view! Dimitris is a truly great host. He answers any emails/messages really quickly and is so helpful. If this villa is available when you want to visit Skopelos - book it!

Owner's Response: Thank you so much Annette! It is truly a great reward to be able to serve all our guests the best way possible! This is why we do all we can to offer a home rather than just a vacation property, with all the necessary amenities. It is true that the villa is close enough to the beaches and Skopelos town, with Foteini's tavern nearby in case you want to eat somewhere close by, but yet far enough to enjoy peace and great views down the gulf of Skopelos town and the Aegean Sea. Hope to have you back soon!!!! Dimitris

Excellent & Ideallic

We stayed for 5 nights and totally loved it. The villa was perfect....very traditional and with a spectacular outlook. Also very private. We recommend it to anyone. Skopelos is a very picturesque island and doesn't disappoint.

Lovely relaxing stay, very helpful owner.

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely relaxing time at the villa. It is truly secluded and just what we needed. Skopelos is a lovely island and everything was a short drive from the villa. The town and our favourite beach (panormos) were a speedy 10 minutes away. Glossa is 20-30min away with a myriad of beaches stretching in between. Dimitris was a great host, always available to help and swiftly replying to our messages. When we got there, there was a bit too many bees for our taste (we were to be fair in the middle of the woods) but dimitris quickly accomodated us and sent someone to set traps. After which there was much less bees. I highly recommend this villa for families, couples and friends looking to get away from the husstle and bustle. The villa is surrounded by trees and the night sky is beautiful.

Small tips: we rented a car for our stay and there is no need for a gps. The roads are well sign posted and if you have a smart phone it's easy to figure destinations out. Taverna fottinis is a 10 minute walk away which we visited in the middle of a very uncharacteristic storm. Despite being the only guests madame fottinis took us in and gave us towels to dry up :)

Also if you look across to the neighbouring hill at night there's a funny little surprise which entertained us a lot.

Finally the villa is very well appointed and the pillows are very comfortable.

All and all a lovely stay.

Owner's Response: Thank you Jana for being our guests and hope to have you back soon!:) The truth is that this year we have had plenty of bees, but with our traps we over passed the problem! Our secluded villa with the starry sky will always be there for you! Best of wishes, Dimitris

Beauty and privacy! What better way to relax!

  • 5 of 5

We spent a week at Villa Arktos with my husband and one friend. It was a beautiful, relaxing vacation! A week earlier, we had a rest with my husband alone in the villa Pegasus, but when we were joined by our friend - we moved to the Villa Arktos, it is very convenient, as the villa has two completely separate areas for sleeping with its own bathroom, a spacious living room divided. Sometimes we do not want to go anywhere, and we were staying in, fried barbecue and swim in the large pool. The villa is located next to the woods on a mountain, so there is always cool, the sun enters the house only in the morning, when it is very gentle, and in the afternoon at Villa there is 5-7 degrees cooler than down on the beach! That's fine, because you can always escape from the beach and relax at home out of the heat! After our crazy and huge city - Moscow, this place seemed to us quiet tranquil haven, with a wonderful hospitable host - Dimitris! We will be glad to come back!

A wonderful villa in a beautiful location.

  • 5 of 5

From the moment we contacted Dimitris to enquire about Villa Arktos, we realised we were onto something special! He was so helpful and attentive weeks before we even set foot on Skopelos; we knew we had made a great decision in booking this villa for our first trip to Greece. (Dimitris even came to the rescue and found us a hire car when we couldn’t find any available on the regular car-hire websites!) Never before on our holiday travels have we experienced such genuine care from a host – he was so focused on ensuring our holiday was a success and we can't thank him enough.

The villa is in a truly wonderful location - I can’t imagine there is a better one on the island, to be honest. You hardly notice the couple of nearby villas, yet whilst it felt very much on its own, standing in the tranquillity of the beautiful wooded valley with just the sounds of cicadas and goat bells drifting on the breeze, Arktos was conveniently only a short drive from Skopelos Town (for supermarket supplies or restaurants). Similarly, by car, the rest of the island’s beaches, towns and villages are within easy reach. (The short track down to the villa from the road is quite rough going, so take it slowly!)

The villa itself is just as described and seen in the photos on the website. It has rustic, yet stylish, charm and oozes such a relaxing atmosphere. We had four adults and one fully grown teenager (who slept in the small gallery room) and the space and facilities provided by the villa were perfect for us all. We sometimes ate inside although more-often we dined out on the terrace. We found the air-conditioning in the two main bedrooms a real bonus! The pool was marvellous and the view, whether swimming or sitting on the terrace, was simply wonderful; we soaked it up day after day, gazing down the wooded valley to the Aegean Sea. I have no doubt this will be the pervading memory which will see us through the coming UK winter...
