Perched up in the hills and just 5 minutes’ walk from medieval Tourrettes sur Loup, this house is perfect for families. The four double bedrooms (all with ensuite bathrooms) comfortably accommodate eight people and the configuration of rooms make it ideal for two families to share if holidaying with friends. The villa’s elevated position provides sweeping panoramic views of both the sea and mountains.

This south-facing house is welcoming and very homely – relaxing, spacious and private. All the rooms are bright and airy, with views of either the garden, pool or down to the sea. The double-aspect living room with fireplace, comfortable sofas & TV corner opens onto the garden and terraces, and is well equipped with toys and games for younger children. Adjacent is the dining area opening onto the swimming pool terrace. The well-loved kitchen is well equipped and includes a small breakfast table.

Outside, the gardens are perfect for children to play and adults to relax. The large and predominantly flat garden has numerous mature Mediterranean shrubs and trees, and includes a heated pool that has a removable security fence for complete piece of mind.

Several terraces with tables and chairs offer a choice of spots to relax in the sun or shade and enjoy the sweeping views down to the coast. Lastly, the comfortable summer kitchen area has a barbecue and large outdoor table for enjoying long lazy lunches and warm al fresco dinners.

Tired, but great pool

The house is in a good position, near to our favourite village. The outside area at the rear is very good, with a great pool, beautiful backdrop, great sunloungers and dining terrace. The interior is sadly very tired and rather shabby. When we stayed, one of our wardrobe doors was simply left off and laid against the bedroom wall. The coffee table in the sitting room was falling to bits and had to be removed for safety reasons. The shower basin in the poolside bedroom was full of rusty marks, with the shower head tied on by a piece of string. This and many other aspects of the house fell well below the description and our expectations. We asked the agents to inspect the property while we were there, however Sophie, from Pur Azur, was unfortunately defensive and unhelpful. Her colleague (whose name I sadly don't recall) took over and was much more pleasant and practical offering is alternative accommodation, which sadly wasn't suitable and hence we stayed put.

Throughout our two weeks no gardener appeared, but the pool guy attended regularly and pleasant.

We had a good stay here eventually, and it is unfortunate that our concerns and disappointment were so badly dealt with at first.

It's a shame we didn't have the opportunity to discuss your exact requirements as you booked the house straight away , it would have helped us in recommending a property that fitted better with your needs. We are surprised by your comments regarding the inattentiveness of our team Pure Azur , indeed the team worked as a whole to follow up immediately upon receipt of your complaint by sending you resolutions to your numerous points as well as presenting you 2 days later and in peak season , an alternative property . Following this unfortunate start , the team was present at any time to meet your various requirements ( change of micro wave , change of table ..) . At check out , Receiving positive comments from your part that you had a very good stay , made us feel reassured that you had good holidays . We're taking this on board to improve our processes and communication in the future.

Spacious and relaxing with great views

We stayed as a family of six and there was plenty of room for us all. Many shaded outside seating areas, lovely warm pool, large comfy living room and great views over the hills and coastline. It is in a quiet area yet within walking distance of the pretty medieval village. Highly recommended and we hope to come back again.

There is always a good time to visit Tourrettes.

During the peak summer season the weather hots up, but being elevated from the coast means that it’s easier to escape the intensity of summer heat. There is a plethora of events, ranging from world-famous jazz concerts (Juan Les Pins, Nice, Antibes), International firework competitions (Cannes and along the coast), and of course locally the Fete de la Musique (June 21st) when the whole village comes to life with concerts and al fresco dining.

In winter, the weather can still be very mild. The local ski resort of Geôlières is a 45 minute drive and offers family skiing with spectacular views and mountain scenery. For a bigger ski domain, Valberg, Isola 200 and Auron are great for day trips. Other events not to be missed are the world-famous Nice carnival (February), Menton Lemon Festival (February) and Tourrettes’ very own Fete des Violettes (February): a unique event with music, locally decorated floats parading through the village and the infamous ‘bataille des fleurs’.

Spring & Autumn offer temperate, pleasant weather and a welcome escape from the grey skies of Northern Europe and cooler climes. And of course being out of season, there are fewer people and air fares can be cheaper.

The surrounding area offers much to explore. 45 minutes’ drive will take you to Cannes, Antibes, Nice or Juan les Pins. A little further along the coast is Monaco, Monte Carlo and the Italian border or head west and enjoy a day out in St. Tropez. There are five golf courses within a 30 minute drive. Active outdoor pursuits nearby in the Gorge du Loup and surrounding mountains include parascending, hang gliding, canyoning and horse riding. There are some excellent and varied walks nearby for all levels of walkers or hikers, many in mountainous terrain with breath-taking views.
