Upon entrance to this enchanting building, you will recognize a wonderful blend of antiquity with a modern twist, where design against concept has been achieved within a totally refurbished building of heritage. Needless to say, the WOW factor is certainly on the menu here!

Upon entrance to The Old Mint you will find a large entrance hall, which opens out into an internal glass covered court yard with a part glass lift, which will elevate you to the entrance door of your accommodation. Upon entry you will be greeted by a very modern contemporary holiday let accommodation with a typical open plan Mediterranean kitchen/living/dining area (Air Conditioned) living area has a very high ceiling, a shower room with WC. The upper floor is accessed via a stainless steel spiral staircase to the upper level having 2 single beds and 1 double bed in two bedrooms respectively of which both bedrooms have Air Conditioning and a bathroom serves these rooms..

About the Owner

Having lived on the islands 20yrsI suppose I can now be classed as a local, formerly from Manchester in the UK. Needless to say I love the islands and the most prominent factor being the people of Malta, warm heart, sense of humour, respectful, strong family morals just about sums it up! Oh yes, to mention of course the super weather we are blessed with, after many years of rainy summers in England I am not only blessed with sunshine, but my darling local lady Carrol.

We enjoy eating out, especially Carrol..! You can be sure to enjoy some fine restaurants all over the islands, where quality is high on the menu with a great local bottle of red to wash it down, yep the true Mediterranean Maltese way. Summer months are a delight to swim in crystal blue waters and a very warm sea, snorkelling is a must!

Please do ask any questions about the accommodation or the islands as a whole, I'm a well seasoned wealth of local knowledge after 20yrs I don't think there is much I didn't do, see or eat ;)

We had seen the pics, but the place topped these by far.... great place, excellent setting, close to all amenities, friendly host... we loved it!!!

Impeccable stay

From the outset booking on for about a month's stay was wonderfully facilitated by the sole letting agency that manages the property. From there, our airport pickup also handled by the above went super smoothly and we were pleasantly welcomed to the flat dab in the heart of Valletta.

Very strategically located to venture around all of Malta, the accommodation is exactly as advertised and photographed! So you can really count on what you read and see well before arriving. Nestled in comfort, fine finishings and the nice separations of living and sleeping areas, this flat served as an ideal location for our purposes of retreating in and touring the amazing island of Malta!

The bonus came in being acquainted with Clair and Gino who co-own the building. They graciously took us out for a wonderful dinner around the corner and allowed us the great privilege of getting to know them through the all so famous Maltese hospitality! We can't thank them enough for the kindness they extended us!!

We also want to warmly thank Marcin, Nicolina and Josette who all played key roles in facilitating our stay and really encourage others to partake of this wonderful offering!!

We have zero hesitation in joyously recommending this truly exquisite flat to all visitors of Malta!! You won't be disappointed!!

Best Place in Valletta

The property is exactly as pictured on the website. The building itself is dated 1667 with very modern apartments (Old Mint 1, 2 and Penthouse). The owner, Claire, has done a tremendous job in finding a perfect balance between the heritage of the building while modernizing the individual apartments.

Would strongly recommend making use of the airport pickup for 21 Euros. It is so convenient and well worth it. We were met by Nicolina and she drove us to the apartment. She also showed us the apartment and went over all the necessary information to ensure we were familiar with the amenities. We were provided written receipts along with emergency contact numbers during our stay. These are details that added to our level of comfort.

The apartment is located close to many tourist attractions in Valletta. It is absolutely splendid. It is well-appointed and has all the necessary comforts for your stay. Its location in Valletta is ideal. You are within a few blocks from Republic Street which will certainly be a main point of your visit. It is only a few minutes walk to the ferry (to take you (across the bay to Sliema).

Be sure to visit Sharon who owns a convenience store just a block away from the apartment (corner of St-Lucia and Old Bakery St).

We highly recommend this apartment for your stay in Malta.

Fabulous, Elegant, Beautifully Furnished!!!

Stayed at the Old Mint Apartment no.1 and I really cannot find anything to fault it! I spent 10 days with 3 of my friends and it was just what we needed.

Upon arrival we were greeted by the owner Claire who was a delight!

The entrance to the building leaves you with that "Wow" impression! (Remember to check out the year of the building just above the fish fountain!)

She happily took us to apartment no1 and the lift came in handy with all the bags we were carrying! Gave us all the instructions we needed to know and some wicked restaurant tips...she knows of many places in Valletta that are a MUST!

The apartment is spotless and squeaky clean - everything looked as though nobody had been there before. Beautiful paintings on the wall and lovely large windows and high ceilings (a lovely sense of openness from a small apartment back home!). The kitchen has all that we needed and we definitely got a good nights rest after the bustling days out in the city.

It was home away from home - they even have beach towels - not something I usually find when staying in apartments!!!

Thank you Claire for your hospitality! A much needed break and I am looking forward to come back! Will definitely spread the word :) You indeed do have a little gem there!
