About this property

Family restored house, for restful, sportiv, cultural sunny holidays Provence

'Le Clos des Tilleuls' is a very comfortable renovated mas, situated in a spacious closed garden in the middle of cultivated fields, close to the village.
It is important to say that you live in the whole house and in its large private garden, with nobody around, neither hosts nor owner ! While resting in the shadow of old lime and fig trees, while swimming in the swimming pool, while playing table tennis, you will enjoy a magnificent view of the medieval village of La Laupie and the mountains beyond, not far from the river “Le Jabron”.
The completely restored house combines authenticity and refinement with treasures from the past unearthed at brocantes or abroad. The overall effect in this 1800s mas is one of natural warmth and coziness.
With 3 bathrooms and toilets, you will enjoy an independent daily organisation in the house.
The kitchen/dining area is a beautiful vaulted space perfectly fit for cooking. From the neighboring producers, you can buy the best products in the shop of the village or on markets around.
You will discover a region full of tempting choices...
Nature in all its splendor: fields of lavender and sunflowers, olives, apricots
and truffle oaks. The gorges of the Ardèche and the Drôme. The hills, rivers,
forests and mountains offer unforgettable excursion possibilities – hiking,
biking, and horseback riding. As well fishing, canoe, kayak, descent of canyon,
escalation, caving(speology).Tennis and golf -18 holes-. Mediterranean beaches at 1h30 drive.
A rich cultural heritage: numerous perched villages, châteaux and Roman
churches.
An extensive artistic life: concerts, art exhibitions and numerous festivals -
Mozart in Saou, jazz in Crest, choral festival in Orange and Vaison-la-
Romaine, theater in Avignon and the literary correspondance festival in
Grignan.
Numerous provençal markets, handicrafts, brocantes and antiques – especially well-known for the latter is L’Isle sur Sorgue. And numerous restaurants ranging from country inns to gastronomic restaurants
In 'Le Clos des Tilleuls',with your friends or with your family, with several generations, with your pet, you will appreciate all year long the gentle rythm of life in sunny Provence.

Absolutely beautiful house and garden in fantastic location with a wonderful owner and
We stayed in La Laupie for just one week, but wished we had stayed longer. The house is absolutely beautiful, very well equipped and surrounded by wonderful, Provençal farmland. The garden and pool are idyllic and the perfect spot to relax and unwind, so much so that we struggled to tear ourselves away from it each day. Anne-Frederique, the owner, is extremely sweet and helpful. All around a wonderful experience that we hope to repeat next year.

A gorgeous house looking out to hilltop village
1105362 La Laupie We discovered this gorgeous house last year and it was so lovely that we are planning to go back again this year! This corner of France is sublime with several unspoilt little villages perched on little hilltops above a flat plane. There is a wonderful feeling of space and peace. The house itself looks out, over a wide grassy area and over fields, to the picture book beauty of the old village of La Laupie. The foothills of the Alps themselves are close by to the East and the Ardege Gorge is over on the West, so there are plenty of outdoor activities for young adults or teenage children. We (2 adults and 4 twenty something year olds) flew into Lyon and hired a car, with the drive from the airport to the house taking about an hour and a half, so it was not too far. The house itself is delightful with a well equipped kitchen and several choices of tables and chairs - breakfast area in the morning sun, lunchtime area, cool in the shade of a tree, as well as the more normal kitchen/dining area. We are planning to go in the summer this year, knowing that we can spend hot afternoons by the pool whilst our more active young adults can play table tennis in between splashing about. We can all gather for a game of boule, in the shade, or even floodlit later on. There is a boulangerie about 15 minutes walk along quiet lanes (or a very quick drive). There are supermarkets in the villages, about 10 minutes drive away, as well as a variety of restaurants. Everyone of us had a particularly enjoyable time and we are looking forward to seeing it all again. Sandra

Stunning views, great garden
This is a lovely house - airy and light inside, with a big garden. It has stunning views of La Laupie's old town on one side, and the mountains on the other. Having dinner on the lawn as the sun went down was a real pleasure (bbq also provided). There's a dishwasher and a washing machine - so you can concentrate on the fun stuff (like the ping pong table). There are plenty of beautiful old towns and villages to visit within a short drive. The owner couldn't have been kinder to us - extremely welcoming and helpful. Altogether, I would thoroughly recommend it.

Delightful character property
This is a lovely property in an ideal location for exploring all of the delights of the Drome region. We are a family of five, 2 adults and 3 teenage children, and we thoroughly enjoyed our two week holiday in La Laupie. This tastefully and comfortably furnished house was clean and well equipped. We were met by the lovely owner on our arrival. The internet service is very reliable which helped us plan our days out according to weather, canoeing locations, travelling distances, opening times, and places to eat etc. On very hot days we were glad of the pool and the numerous shady places to sit in the garden. There are wonderful views from the garden of the surrounding farmland and mountains in the distance. The house is very conveniently located with good road access to several local villages with good restaurants, a small supermarket, cafes and small weekly markets. The owner of the property is very kind and helpful and speaks good English. The information provided about the area on our arrival was invaluable as this was our first visit to this region of France. We enjoyed lots of days out and spent some very restful days relaxing at the house. The Shortis Family July/August 2014

Host profile image
I was an active woman, living in Paris, and Lyon .I used to travel a lot and we decided to change our way of life for a quieter life and environment. We chose 2 nice places to live now in Provence, and often stay on the Ile de Ré as well .These are two wonderful places to stay ! 10 years ago, I looked for a natural and refined place to enjoy Provence life. We chose this region Drôme Provençale, because it is as well the South landscapes of Provence, and the green and freshness in Summer of forests, rivers and hills very close. We travel,we are open-minded and we are very satisfied by all possibilities here as well in cultural, sportive or daily life .Our family members and friends of 3 generations are very attracted as well by the region and often stay at home !

Why they chose this property

I found in love with this stone 'Mas' and its location. The warm and unique architecture of a 19th cent country house with a wide view -east onto the hills far away, south onto the cultivated fields, and west, onto the medieval village, with no neighbours to be seen except the fields. I could completely renovate it and could display rooms to have a real daily comfort and an independency inside the house .You will like walking to the village to the producers'shop and to the bakery very near.you will love the South French atmosphere in and outside. The garden is completly closed and safe for children. The swimming pool is completly closed as well.

What makes this property unique

First of all, the 'Mas' and the garden are an independent estate, with no other holiday-makers or owners living close ! It has its traditional Provence architecture with outside stone-walls.I kept all architectural old elements details, added some old furniture, in a contemporary atmosphere. It is clear, cheerful . I would like you to enjoy at home this authenticity, simplicity and refinement,a way of life in South of France.I would like you, your family members and your friends to enjoy all activities and discover this marvellous and various region.
