About this property

Spacious Vacation Home minutes from Wellington, walking distance to wineries.

This house is perfectly situated for fun! Seven minutes from downtown Wellington, or one minute (!) from two of the County's very best wineries, Norman Hardie and Rosehall Run. The Wedge sits on two secluded acres in the shape of a 'wedge.' A great perch in the County, close to all the action, but secluded enough to really enjoy yourself when you want to make your own fun. Ideal for those who want to cook some serious meals, as well as those who'd rather just throw a few dogs on the grill.

Out back, grill your dinner on the gas BBQ or go old-school and use the Weber Charcoal grill. Sit at the two picnic tables, under the enormous blue umbrella. Then later watch the sun slowly fall over the rolling fields.

The perfect location for one or two families, or several couples. Sleeps nine!

Inside you'll find:

- FOUR BEDROOMS, three with super comfy queen beds, the fourth with a twin XL bunk over a full-sized queen bed, also super comfy.

- TWO FULL BATHROOMS

- A KITCHEN, large and fully stocked with new appliances, including dishwasher, and a dual oven perfect for cooking large meals (the upper and lower zones of the oven can be set to different temperatures)
- Small appliances including food processor, stand mixer, sous vide cooker, soda stream.
- Coffee/Tea station with Chemex pour-over coffee maker and Nespresso machine.
- Quality pots and pans.
- Chef quality knives and all essential utensils.

-DINING ROOM with a view and a good supply of cocktail and wine glasses.

-Well appointed COCKTAIL BAR with shakers and stirrers.

-Spacious and fun LIVING ROOM ample seating room, flatscreen 40" TV with Netflix, high-end stereo system with excellent turntable and great selection of vinyl. Play our records respectfully, or simply plug in your digital device to the optical cable. And go ahead and turn it up a bit, the neighbours are far away.

- Free Wi-Fi

THINGS TO DO:

Sandbanks Provincial Park Beach (though you might consider the equally nice, and frequently less crowded - and closer - North Beach.)

The following WINERIES are all within a 12 minute radius from The Wedge. Our near neighbours, ROSEHALL RUN and NORMAN HARDIE are highly recommended for their wine, and both have excellent food options. The first-rate food truck, PICNIC is parked at Rosehall Saturdays and Sundays during the summer, and pizza on the patio at Norm's is one of the County's must-do experiences.
STANNERS in Hillier makes superb wines in tiny quantities (Pinot Noir, Cabernet Franc, Riesling, Pinot Gris).
TRAYNOR FAMILY VINEYARD is fast gaining a reputation for its "Petillant Naturale" wines. They also have rotating food options and a Friday night live music series.
HINTERLAND WINE CO. is one of the County's premier wine destinations. They produce excellent sparkling wine. And right next door is COUNTY ROAD BEER COMPANY specializing in farm house style brews. The Beer Garden offers some of the very best food the county has to offer. A must visit.
TRAIL ESTATE WINERY is a relative newcomer offering superb Niagara-based cuvees until their newly planted County vines come on line.
THE GRANGE is a highly recommended visit. A visually stunning, rustic winery set alongside a creek. Grab a bottle of Gamay and one of their picnic basket lunches and settle in among the trees.
CLOSSON CHASE has earned a world class reputation for its Chardonnays.
THE OLD THIRD is an idiosyncratic winery that produces minute quantities of Cabernet Franc, Sparkling Wine and what many people consider the County's finest Pinot Noir.
KEINT-HE Winery & Vineyard is a consistent producer of splendid wines from both County and Niagara sources is 5 minutes from the house and 3 minutes from "downtown" Wellington!

The village of WELLINGTON packs a lot of goodness in a small package. Since its inception in 2014, the DRAKE DEVONSHIRE has been one the County's cultural focal points. Food in the dining room, cocktails on the patio, art in the lounge, live music in the pavilion, the Drake does it all. A great jumping off spot for your County week. And, best of all, only 8 minutes from The Wedge!
THE COURAGE BAR is also an excellent restaurant, and a great hang. Tell Oliver and Tyler we sent you.
ENID GRACE CAFE is the hot new breakfast/brunch/lunch spot. MIDTOWN BREWING COMPANY is the newbie on the block and they are making friends fast. Terrific beer, and limited - but so good! - menu. Also, an in-house deli offering charcuterie, good olive oil and pasta.
THE GENERAL is an important stop in town. Magazines, great gifts, coffee and snacks and chat. The place to catch the pulse of the village.
Also, cool, classy one-off gifts and home decor at WILKINS MERCANTILE, produce at the Saturday morning Wellington FARMERS' MARKET, and a peanut butter and jelly cone at NICE ICE BABY ICE CREAM.

But really the best ice cream in the County, maybe the Country, is in the tiny perfect village of BLOOMFIELD at SLICKERS. All their creations are supposed to be amazing. We wouldn't know as we've never been able to get beyond the immortal "Campfire", a concoction made with marshmallows toasted over an actual wood fire. This cone deserves its own postage stamp. Worth the 25-minute wait.
Have tea or breakfast at SAYLOR HOUSE. Buy a beautiful tea-towel at, well, one of about nine tea-towel-selling shops on the street. Grab some proper County swag at the PRINCE EDWARD COUNTY T-SHIRT COMPANY. Have lunch at the AGRARIAN (maybe before the ice cream). Let the lovely Laura and Elliot serve you dinner at THE HUBB AT ANGELINE'S.

PICTON is the seat of the County (whatever that means). An actual town, with grocery stores (Metro, Sobey's) a decently sized LCBO, (though a mere 5 minutes from the Wedge, the Wellington lickbo's hours and selection are very limited). Sharing the same parking lot as the Picton LCBO is the AGRARIAN MARKET, a good fancy food store. And later, while you're in the Sobey's parking lot, wonder why there's a freaky old mansion, THE FALCONER HOUSE just sitting there in the same lot as a McDonald's and Rexall, across the road from the Walnut St. Tim Hortons, then wander over there and find out what the heck's happening with that property. See if County wunderkind Alex Fida is hanging about. Get the story. See if there's a show on at the REGENT, a first-run art flick, or maybe THE RHEOSTATICS live! Savour a rice bowl at the VIC CAFE (a current County food obsession.) Head out of town for about three clicks along 49 to PARSON'S BREWING and crush a CRUSHABLE LAGER with super-correct tacos or a plate of fried chicken done right.

Come back the next day maybe, but this time skirt the town all together by driving along County RD 22 by the abandoned WWII CAMP PICTON. Stop at the vista overlooking the town, take in the view for a moment then decide you're hungry and head out in search of food. Move toward MILFORD in the Southeast part of PEC. Stop in at the prettiest vegetable stand you've ever seen at VICKI'S VEGGIES. Get some stuff for later. Head to WAUPOOS ESTATE WINERY for lunch, later head further East to FIFTH TOWN CHEESE and get some more stuff for later.

On your way back come through LAKE ON THE MOUNTAIN PROVINCIAL PARK. Stop at the MILLER HOUSE and enjoy a fine house-brewed beer. Take in the breathtaking view hundreds of feet below you as the GLENORA FERRY pushes back and forth to and from ADOLPHSTOWN. Then look over your shoulder across the street to a full blown lake at the very level your'e sitting. Wonder how that's even possible, then maybe google it, I guess.

Now get back to The Wedge to sample your purchases, maybe plunge some rosé and sparkling in ice while you take a small siesta. Then arise! Put something suitable on the turntable, stir some cocktails and get those ribeyes started.

Excellent host
Stayed for 3 nights with 4 adults and 4 young kids. Big property with lots of space to play. Communication with Cam was easy and effective. Lots of nice little touches. About 30 minute drive to sandbanks beaches and located next to great wineries. Definitely worth a visit

Lovely, spacious home!
Cam was a fantastic host and the house was beautiful. We were a group of six adults and three children and this house worked perfectly for us to enjoy a lovely weekend in the county. Great decor and details throughout the house. Amazing stocked bar! Delicious Detour coffee for our use. And a fabulous record collection! Thanks so much Cam for everything. We really appreciated all of your communication and willingness to make your place work for our group. We'll be back!

short weekend in a great house
We were 7 women who stayed at Wedge house for a far too short weekend. It was lovely to sit out in the garden overlooking peaceful fields. The kitchen had everything you could possibly ask for. Cam kindly left some delicious rose which we enjoyed so much we went and got more for our second night. We all brought our bikes and biked around the area stopping in Wellington and then at wineries and the lavender farm. Traffic is way less than in the Niagara area so less stressful. We would all be back for sure. Cam was great at providing lots of information and anticipating our needs. Thank you
