Centrally located to explore nearby Aix-en-Provence, St. Tropez, Grimaud, Lorgues, Cannes, Nice, Hyeres, Frejus and many other Provencal and Côte d'Azur towns and villages! La Peyrardiere is not only a fabulous summer holiday location, it is also ideal for other holidays and bringing families and friends together. Some fabulous times to visit are Fall (grape and olive harvest, flea markets and cooler weather- still can swim until November) and Spring ( all sorts of interesting festivities from Easter, May Day, Transhumance and the local Gonfaron festival of the winged donkey- Fête de l'Âne à Gonfaron https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MBJ2re4oyLw). Take advantage of the lower rates during the off-season!

Nestled in the heart of the beautiful Maures Mountains, in a preserved and peaceful environment, with a beautiful view of the surrounding hills, La Bastide la Peyrardiere is a well deserved luxury escape. The stone farmhouse was originally built in 1780. Having been recently renovated to the highest English/American standards, it still retains many of its original features. Full of space and light, this 18th century stone farmhouse provides holiday makers with a dream destination in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur. American satellite TV and wifi.

Whether you wish to explore some of the finest hilltop villages in Provence or just relax by the pool, you will be warmly welcomed and will thoroughly enjoy your stay.

This sunny farmhouse is surrounded by vineyards on 3 sides, with magnificent views of mountains. The beautiful gardens invite you to lounge by the salt-water pool, relax in the pool house, play boules in the boules court or enjoy the view from the back covered terrace. A rare period pigeonnier (pigeon house) and wheat threshing floor add to the character of the gardens. The pool is fitted with an alarm system and secure pool cover, but young children must be supervised at all times when the pool is uncovered.

About the Owner

We're an American family with young children. Our eight-year-old twin girls grew up from birth in this house. Our hobbies include exploring Provence, ruins, cycling, running and hunting for antiques and treasures at the brocantes and marches aux puces. We have lived in France for almost 12 years.

Perfect holiday home for up to 12 people

  • 5 of 5

11 adults and a 7 year old had a wonderful 2 week holiday in this lovely huge farmhouse from the end of July to the start of August 2016. Jill the owner was always at the end of an email from start to finish and answered any queries we had. Sue is the lady that met us on the 1st day and showed us around the property telling us all the relevant and important information we needed to know. There is also Patricia and Eric that live in the house close by that are always on hand if anything is needed in an emergency. All the rooms are lovely and big including the kitchen which has everything you need. The bedrooms are super clean and 2 of them are very big indeed all with lovely views over vineyards and mountains in the distance. Our 7 year old shared the attic room with us and there was still enough room to have a party in there! We all sat down together on the terrace to eat breakfast and dinner and it was very nice having the built in BBQ at the end of the terrace to cook on while we all sat down together. The grounds were much bigger and prettier than the pictures portrayed and the lovely swimming pool is set in its own grounds surrounded by vineyards. As you can imagine with a 7 year old she was in there everyday and enjoyed every minute of it. There was more than enough space in the front of the house for 4 cars and 2 motorbikes and piece of mind that there are electric gates, not that there are many people or houses around because it is quite rural but still about 20 minutes walk in to Gonfaron. Gonfaron has a few restaurants 1 of which we had a lovely meal and was well looked after. Gonfaron is a typical French small town with a bank, boulangerie x 2, a few nice cafes and a weekly market. St tropez is 50 minutes away but there are some lovely villages near by. We would all love to go back there at some point soon and I would highly recommend it to everyone. All 12 of us thoroughly enjoyed our stay there.

wonderful villa in great location

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned from a fabulous week at this villa. The villa is in a great location as you can walk to the local village and also drive easily to the coast.

The kitchen is very well equipped and opens out on to a great deck with a table to seat everyone and another area with couches for relaxing. The gardens are lovely and the pool beautiful.

The bedrooms and bathrooms are great- all a good size and two enormous.

We have stayed in quite a few large houses in the south of France and we thought this was the best- we intend to return next year.

Lovely villa close to local village

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned from a week in this lovely villa. We were a large family group ranging in age from 77 down to 5 and the house suited everyone, there is a beautiful pool area with wonderful views of the surrounding countryside.

The kitchen is well equipped and opens on to the outside deck which is a great size and very well organised with a large table to seat everyone. The bedrooms and bathrooms are great-all are a good size while two are vast!

The local village is within walking distance and we enjoyed a lovely walk each morning down to the local boulangerie in the fabulous sunshine.

We all had a fab time and I would thoroughly recommend this villa.

Beautiful house & gardens

  • 5 of 5

Our family spent a lovely week here! My husband and I went with our 2 kids and also our parents. The house is beautiful and very welcoming. The gardens are stunning, you really couldn't imagine anything prettier! The swimming pool is to the side of house meaning you can relax and keep the kids at the house safely then all go to the pool together.

We took a car which is a must, especially for the kids in the strong sunshine. Gonfaron is a pretty little village and the house is a good base for travelling to places such as St Tropez and Nice!

Would highly recommend!!

Stunning sunsets, wonderful home

  • 5 of 5

Property is terrific with so much space and wonderful interiors. We went on walks though the vineyards and drove to incredible places close by for day trips. Best thing about Provence is the sunsets and the wine! This house is great for families and decor is just great. Hosts are super helpful.

Location

From the Owner

We fell in love with Gonfaron while on vacation and dreamed of coming back to live full time! We found our dream stone farmhouse, La Peyrardiere, in 2004 and have enjoyed the central location. We are fortunate to be able to explore nearby Aix-en-Provence, St. Tropez, Grimaud, Lorgues, Cannes, Nice, Hyeres, Frejus and many other Provencal and Côte d'Azur towns and villages.

Activity and Interests

Nearest Airport : Le Palyvestre Airport, Hyeres (Toulon) at 45 Kilometres Nearest Barpub : Bar des Maures at 1 Kilometres Nearest Golf : Golf Resort de Maures at 35 Kilometres Nearest Train : Gonfaron at 2 Kilometres Nearest Motorway : A8 / A57 at 12 Kilometres Nearest Restaurant : at 1 Kilometres Nearest Ski : Isola 2000 at 120 Kilometres Nearest Beach : St. Tropez at 45 Kilometres Car: recommended

The farmhouse is easily accessible and is centered between 3 international airports: 75 min from Nice Cote D'azur IAirport, 90 mn from the Marseille-Provence Airport, and 40 min from Le Palyvestre Airport, Hyeres (Toulon) and 45 minutes from the T.G.V. Aix-en-Provence station.

I highly recommend L'abbaye du Thoronet, only 25 km away. It is a beautiful former Cistercian abbey built in the late twelfth and early thirteenth century, now restored as a museum.

For antique and bargain-hunters, there are a few great brocantes and marches aux puces nearby.

Les Gorges du Verdon (France's Grand Canyon) is a river canyon that is often considered to be one of Europe's most beautiful.

St. Tropez, Cannes and Aix-en-Provence are a must; try to go on a market day! The medieval villages of St. Paul de Vence and Eze are beautiful.

Grasse, Hyeres, Antibes, Marseille, Nice, Monaco, are all great days out.
