About the property

Villa On The Hills Of Lucca, 3 Bedrooms, 3 Bathrooms, 1 Sofabed. Sleeps 7 People

This charming farmhouse restored in 2012, was formerly a small cloister dating back to 1700. It is located in the middle of an olive tree grove dominating the valley and the city of Lucca, which lies only 11 km from here. The owner is an interior designer, this is why interiors are refurbished with care and attention to details, using original Tuscan furniture and aiming at the perfect ease of the guests. The days in Lucca will be particularly agreeable thanks to its many attractions and points of interest: the sightseeing of the town, its unique city walls, churches, squares, museums etc. For those who love the sea, in 20 minutes you can reach the sea-side resorts of Versilia, Viareggio, Forte dei Marmi - all renowned for their huge golden shores. For mountain lovers, in only 30 minutes you can be in the Garfagnana area and walk through its ancient villages. Take a chance to visit the cities of art and the most characteristic places of Tuscany (Pisa, Firenze, Siena, Cinque Terre) that are near to Lucca and easy to reach. In case some day you do not want to go anywhere, you can enjoy the impressive terrace, which is definitely the peculiarity of this house, offering the possibility to stay outside in complete relax. A magical place surrounded by nature where everything is like it used to be – only a few ancient houses deep in the stillness of the hills and an enchanting atmosphere due to the magnificent view, outstanding during the day and lovely by night.

Beautiful Tuscan Villa!

  • 5 of 5

This villa was exactly what we were looking for-up in the beautiful hills of Tuscany, and the location was perfect--we easily took day trips to Lucca, Florence, Pisa, Cinque Terre, and Volterra. There is NOTHING like walking out on the terrace after waking up in the morning-looking out over the valley and seeing Lucca in the distance, the peace and tranquility can only be described as good for the soul! The view at night comes in a close second-unbelievable!!

The drive up the winding road the first time was a bit daunting, but you get acclimated quickly, and it is well worth the location and the views.

Massimo was a great host-he helped us with reservations at Le Meriviglie on the night we arrived, a nearby restaurant where we had a great meal with the locals. He also helped us arrange beforehand for a local chef to come prepare a fantastic meal at the villa. We dined out on the terrace with wine, beautiful weather, and beautiful views as Paula brought us course after course of fantastic local cuisine. It was one of the highlights of our stay, and a night we will never forget!!

We all agreed as we were checking out that we were genuinely sad to leave this place-hopefully we will return again someday Massimo!!--thanks for everything!

Wonderful!

  • 5 of 5

We spent a lovely week in Tuscany. The house was absolutely perfect, tastefully furnished, very clean and comfortable. We loved the position on a hill slope facing the south, there was a plenty of sun on the terrace all day long so even in March we felt almost like it was summer - but so fresh! And the views were amazing!

Massimo (the owner) was very friendly and helpful, thank you very much Massimo! We hope to be back.

Wonderful week near Lucca

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful 1 week stay at Casa Ministro. The house was just what we wanted. It had everything what you need. The property was comfortable and very clean. The look at Lucca and surronding was beautiful. The roud up was wery winding and narrow but it was not problem for us. The owner Massimo was very friendly and extremely helpful host. He arranged for us the local chef and we had excelent home made dinner.

We hope to return someday.

Grazie mille Massimo.

A beautifully kept Tuscany Villa with a spectacular view. The villa was also very clean.

  • 5 of 5

Massimo (the owner) was a great guy to deal with and was very accommodating. The villa was exactly what we hoped for: Very clean, comfortable, well equipment and with spectacular views. We would definitely stay here again. The villa is remotely located in the hill sides of Tuscany, and is a gem to come home to after a busy day visiting Lucca. A car rental is recommended, as taxi fares quickly add up. We choose the taxi way, so that we could drink lots of Tuscany wine and not have to worry about drinking and driving. Thank you Massimo for making our holiday a memorable one.

Ciao.....

Charming Cottage with Amazing View

  • 5 of 5

The house was charming and beautiful. It had everything we needed for our stay, and the views from the patio and side terrace are simply amazing. It's close to amenities, and its easy to pop into Lucca to enjoy the sites of the city. Massimo was super helpful and friendly, and even had bread, wine, and pasta waiting for us at the house! The drive up to the house may see daunting to those unfamiliar with European rural roads, but after driving in the mountain region nearby, they are not so bad :) We had a full size estate car, and had no issues getting to the house or parking there. Looking forward to coming back for another stay here in the future. It's just so peaceful and pretty!

Charming house in a beautiful location

  • 5 of 5

The house and location are as wonderful as the pictures portray.

The house is full of character and charm, it is equally comfortable, and has all the essential facilities for a holiday break. We could never tire of the daily view into the valley from the terrace. The hillside location is easily accessible by car and a trip to Lucca takes 15 minutes.

We chose this property from the photos on this site and positive comments from previous guests. We stayed in Florence for a short break prior to picking up the car and spending a week at Massimo's house. Whilst here we drove to Pisa which is easily accessible from the house. What we could not believe is why Lucca is not as famous as Florence and Pisa. Lucca was an unbelievable and unexpected jewel. Located within the medieval walls which enclose the town it is a truly historic and fascinating place to visit. The wall of the town is 4km in length and fully accessible to walk, or cycle along. Within the historic walls is a thriving town with some wonderful restaurants and shops.

Massimo is an absolute gentleman and is committed to ensuring his guests have the perfect holiday. He is available without being in any way intrusive. One morning there was no water available, a text to Massimo was swiftly replied with information that he had contacted the local water supplier and there was an issue to the area which was being resolved, further texts kept us fully updated with the timescale for restoration, and happily the issue was swiftly resolved.

I have no hesitation in recommending this property as an ideal place to discover the beauty of Tuscany.

The city of Lucca boasts some wonderfully charming urban spaces: the most famous of these is surely the Piazza dell'Anfiteatro, built on the ruins of the ancient Roman amphitheatre by the architect Lorenzo Nottolini, a unique architectural marvel. The main artery running through the historic centre is the narrow Via Fillungo, a medieval street lined with the city’s most prestigious shops. Some of Lucca’s other picturesque squares include Piazza San Michele, the city’s historic fulcrum, and Piazza San Martino, the centre of religious life and the site of the renowned Duomo di San Martino. Its immense historic-monumental opulence has prompted a recent proposal to include Lucca’s historic centre – which also comprises a historic playhouse, the Teatro del Giglio - in UNESCO’s world heritage list.
