Overview

About the property

Le Rambouillet, Beaulieu sur Mer

Situated centrally in the quiet but upmarket town of Beaulieu sur Mer this studio is ideal for two people- with a super comfy double bed - stunning, uninterupted views of the mountains from each room and the balcony.

Beaulieu is a jewel, halfway between Nice and Monaco, with superb transport links by bus and rail, both of which offer magnificent views of the beautiful bays and the Corniche. Villefranche and Cap Ferrat are within easy striking distance to the west while Eze and Cap D'Ail lead into Monaco. This is a perfectly formed small town with a vitality of its own year round.

This extremely quiet, unoverlooked studio, now with super comfy double bed, is located on the top floor, by lift, of a well kept modern residence, affording it fabulous views over Beaulieu and the mountains behind, yet with easy proximity to all amenities of shops and super markets, bus stops and train station. There is a marina with a wide variety of both power and sailing yachts, edged with cafes and restaurants, a casino and two well maintained, gently sloping sandy beaches.

The studio is well equipped with a large lounge with sofa bed, a separate bathroom and separate newly fitted kitchen and balcony the length of the apartment where you can enjoy a meal or just a quiet glass of wine and a book whilst taking in the panoramic views. The kitchen is fully equipped for those who want to cook their own delicacies, with dishwasher, oven, induction hob fridge with freezer compartment, washing machine and drying rack. Air condtioning for a good nights sleep. We have free wifi, smart TV and telephone via Skype. All in all, a perfect relaxing home from home.

Walking and Hiking: Whether you just want to wander round Beaulieu and the marina, or walk the coastal path past David Niven's beautiful villa on the way to Cap Ferrat, or strike out up into Alpes Maritime, there is something for every ability in and around Beaulieu.

Museums and Gardens: There are two local museums, Villa Kerylos and Villa Ephrussi Rothschild with its stunning gardens, with a rich cultural heritage all the way along the coast- Matisse and Chagall Museums in Nice, The Picasso Museum in Antibes and various chapels with murals by Cocteau all an easy train ride away. There are many seasonal art exhibitions and music festivals year round.

About Richard Reeves

We are semi retired spending most of our time in England but as much time as we can in France. We love this area for its mix of sun sea and culture not to mention the wonderful fresh produce.

Richard Reeves purchased this apartment in 2000

Why Richard Reeves chose Nice Area

We think that Beaulieu sur Mer is the best location on the Cote d'Azure bar none. We spent a long time looking for a place on this coastline having regretted buying properties in Tenerife and Cornwall. We loved Villefranche but it was too busy when the enormous cruise ships arrived but find Beaulieu-sur-Mer to have just the right mix of quiet beaches lovely restaurants shopping and supermarkets. It is easy to live and travel here without a car with easy access to trains and buses which afford lovely views of the coastline. The frequency and fantastic fares of the flight service was also a big advantage.

What makes this apartment unique

Protected from the cold north winds blowing down from the Alps, Beaulieu-sur-Mer is often referred to as 'La Petite Afrique' (Little Africa). Like Menton, it has the mildest climate along the Côte d'Azur and is especially popular with the wintering wealthy. Beaulieu-sur-Mer is graced with lush vegetation, including oranges, lemons, and bananas, as well as palms.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Very highly recommended. Beaulieu is a little gem - convenient to get to from Nice airport (by train) and once there it doesn't disappoint. It's very peaceful, with all the amenities anyone could need, including a well-equipped supermarket.

Every day we were there it was sunny and between 27 and 30 degrees, gentle breeze, excellent coffee and a couple of very good bakeries near-by. We ate every meal on the balcony and the view is incredible. Richard is knowledgeable and approachable as a host.

Overall I could hardly improve the experience, it was exactly what we were looking for. We fully intend to go again.

This is an up-market seaside resort town in addition to being a year-round commercial and residential town, with the added advantage of being pretty, and in a beautiful setting. The lower part of town has shops, shady tree-lined sidewalks and its Casino, as well as beaches and yacht basins. The main part of town is above the railway tracks, inland from the station.

Another vacation in Le Rambouillet

  • 5 of 5

Hi, I have been to this same property several times over the last few years. It is well-equiped, central to amenities, quiet and clean. Every year the owner seems to improve the apartment.

It is a short walk to the beach and a longer walk takes you along the sea to St Jean-Cap-Ferrat. Plenty of nearby restuarants and a supermarket and the train station are only a 5 minute walk away.

Another gorgeous year

  • 5 of 5

For the second summer in a row, we returned to this delightful holiday home in Beaulieu-sur-mer. If it's possible, this year was even better than last. The flat's kitchen has recently been refurbished and looks lovely and modern in white. Once again we made the most of the balcony, enjoying our meals and evenings outside. I couldn't imagine a better place stay within the best place in France. Already dreaming of next year!

Great views, quiet Beaulieu getaway

  • 5 of 5

The property is in an ideal location for visiting the beach, food and drink in town, and enjoying beautiful mountain views of the Cote d'Azur. The unit was equipped with great modern appliances, and had a very nice balcony. Would definitely stay here again.

My third time in this apartment

  • 5 of 5

This is the third time I have stayed in this apartment and ever year there seems to have been at least one improvement. This year it was the walk in shower. Some evenings I took the owner's advice and used the app FilmOn on my tablet to watch UK tv on the smart tv in the apartment.

The apartment is very well maintained and has all the equipment that you would need.

Locally a walk along the coast path to Cap Ferrat is always a favourite. For longer trips the railway station is 10 minute walk away and the bus stop is even closer.

Perfect holiday

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful apartment that totally lived up to our expectations. The apartment was Very clean and it was clear by arrival that it was done very professional and it made us feel at home.

The apartment is full equipped and that makes easy to cook your own meals as you don't have to by everything from scratch. Great detail!

The view from the terrace was stunning as was promised! We enjoyed it both in the morning as well as in the evening and its nice that the sun don't shine on the terrace during the day so its nice and shady.

We loved our stay with our baby boy and we will come back and stay in this great apartment soon!

Well appointed with beautiful mountain views

  • 5 of 5

This apartment is an excellent choice for those wanting to explore the French Riviera but also enjoy home comforts and stunning views. Although small, the owners have equipped the air-conditioned apartment well, featuring a very comfortable pull-down bed, large sofa, high-quality TV and DVD, a quality shower, two induction hobs, a full oven and a decent-sized fridge with freezer box. The real gem in this property however is the full-width balcony as it enjoys late evening sun enabling one to sip an aperitif and cast a gaze across the hills and towards the Moyenne Corniche.

If you visit Beaulieu you will be spoilt for choice as to what to do: spend hours on the numerous beaches (Plage Fourmis is closest although Plage de la Petite Afrique may be more suitable and was featured in a scene from Dirty Rotten Scoundrels) working on your tan, walk up the corniche to the top of the village (and beyond, if you so wished), or out to St-Jean-Cap-Ferrat and Villefranche - both of which boast their own excellent options for swimming and sunbathing - along the coastal paths. You could also take the bus (back) to Nice or in the opposite direction to Monaco if you are in need of a break from the sun - it's worth noting that Beaulieu has its own micro-climate which is degrees warmer than that stated for Nice.

Eating-wise you have a huge range of options, taking in the local vegetable market (go to the right hand side of the two stalls), Charle's (not a typo) the butcher and the ubiquitous Super U to create something at 'home' or you can head towards the port and enjoy traditional French cuisine at several establishments, Italian (Marcello is spectacular), Indian at Le Portofino Indien, Moroccan at Le Petit Darkoum or perhaps indulge in some of the finest ice cream you are ever likely to taste at Giampi's.

We would absolutely recommend this property to singles and couples of all ages and would contend that it might also act as a base for those with a small child too, although that may require some logistical discussion with the owners who, in our experience, are always helpful and amenable to requests.
