About the property

Beautifully Restored 7 Bedroom House With Large L Shaped Private Pool

This luxuriously appointed renovated house was built in 1870, and is situated in the village of Forgrave-sur-Lot which is only 45 minutes drive from Bergerac airport (Stansted/ East Midlands/ Bristol). The house benefits from a large enclosed garden which has several areas for dining under a canopy underneath shady trees or by the large L shaped pool under a sliding awning. There are plenty of areas around the garden to relax, whether that is lounging by the pool or sitting under the shade of the trees with a good book.

The pool area is very well appointed, with an oven and a large BBQ and hot plate. Plus washing machine and fridge. There is also a paella stove and pans.

Our website has many more photos and more information about the local area. During the months of July and August an evening market is held in the village by the river every Thursday, with food, wine and live entertainment. It is a fantastic evening for the whole family with local producers cooking food fresh for both locals and visitors.

We regularly have our young grandchildren to stay so are well set up to host families of all ages. 2 cots, 2 highchairs are available on request.

Fongrave

This is a very friendly village on the bank of the river Lot (500m away from the house). It has a bar/ shop and restaurant, a post office and a church with a magnificent carved 17th century wooden altar.

The house is within five minutes stroll of the river which besides being picturesque is an ideal area for fishing (fishing licences can be obtained from the village shop).

During the months of July and August an evening market is held by the river every Thursday, with food, wine and live entertainment. It is a fantastic evening for the whole family with local producers cooking food fresh for both locals and visitors.

The village is on a cycle route and bicycles can be hired in the next village.

Local area

There are several bastide towns nearby which are well worth exploring, including Pujols, Monflanquin, Penne d’Agenais and Castelmoron sur Lot. There are festivals held regularly throughout the summer in many local villages.

In Penne d’Agenais (20 mins) there is the Parc des Pirates, a pirate-themed park of interactive games and challenges for children which is great fun.

In Castelmoron (10 mins), there are boats, pedaloes and canoes available to hire

Also nearby in Agen is Parc Walibi, a theme park with rides and many other attractions.

Chateau de Bonaguil near Fumel is a fantastic castle to explore.

Wine tasting

Famous vineyards such as Duras, St Emilion, Buzet and Monbazillac are not too far away and are well worth a trip or you can sample the local wines, which are even closer!

Golf

There are golf courses in nearby Villeneuve sur Lot and towards Buzet.

Bordeaux

A beautiful city, an hour and a half by car but well worth a visit. Stunning architecture, fantastic shopping and great restaurants.

Boating and canoeing

Available in the neighbouring villages and also from Fongrave for both novices and the more experienced. Further information is provided in our information folder.
