Chalet Luftschloss, Stunning Free Standing Chalet With Amazing Mountain Views

Overview

Property

Updated: 02-Dec-2016
Perfect Hiking Or Skiing Base, Although You May Not Want To Leave The House!

Newly renovated, extremely comfortable and very tastefully decorated, chalet Luftschloss (castle of the winds) boasts uninterrupted views of the surrounding mountains. The big, open plan living space with open fireplace and big windows creates a very pleasant atmosphere. The chalet is located on Terrassenweg, one of the sunniest areas of Grindelwald. It is only a few minutes' walk from the ski-school nursery slopes on Bodmi, and from there you can also ski down to the First cable car station. It is also conveniently close to a restaurant as well as a bus stop with connections in all directions. In winter the ski piste (First ski region) runs almost to the door of the property.

In summertime, the amount of hikes you can go on are countless, whether it's a short stroll combined with a cable car ride with the children, a more adventurous day hike or downright mountaineering. Grindelwald has something for everyone's taste.

Entering the chalet via the middle floor, you encounter the open plan living, dining and cooking area. There is a ample sofa space for everyone. The dining table seats 8 very easily and the modern kitchen is well equipped with a dish washer, ceramic hob and oven. For entertainment there is a flat screen TV, DVD player, satellite and WiFI; there are also games at your disposal. You will find a toilet and shower on this floor too. French doors open on to the terrace where you may dine 'al fresco' whilst enjoying the breathtaking views.

Up the open stairs, you will find 3 bedrooms and a bathroom with both a bath and a shower. There are 2 double bedrooms, one with a beautiful daybed and a queen sized bed, the other with twin beds. There is a cosy children's room with bunk beds.

Below the living room and on the garden level is another big bedroom with twin beds and on suite bathroom with bath. It has direct garden access. The laundry room is behind the bedroom.

The property managers will meet you on site on your arrival day or shortly after to personally introduce you to the apartment and the area. They the a wealth of information and insider tips for you. The managers are also on call should there be anything you need assistance with.

Included in the rates are a one time linen set up and free Wi-Fi. There is no extra cleaning cost.

Great chalet in a quiet location

  • 5 of 5

Nice chalet raised above Grindelwald. Very quiet and peaceful with great views across to the Eiger.

The chalet is well appointed and the managers were very helpful in every way.

Loads to do in the area and we had a great time.

Great home in a beautiful location

  • 5 of 5

Home was very well maintained and matched the description. Great view from the balcony. Great customer service from manager. We were given ideas of things to do, places to hike and which mountain passes we should consider purchasing. Very helpful. Gindelwald is about a 20 minute walk from the home so will need to drive to get groceries if needed. Impossible to park in town. Close enough to walk for dinner, etc. We would recommend this to friends and relatives!

Great, good value property with stunning views

  • 4 of 5

The communal living space is excellent. Good space for small children. The property was very clean on arrival. The manager is very hospitalble and easy to deal with. Easy bus ride or drive into town. Overall great property. But the views seal the deal.

Would stay again.

Tolles Chalet in grandioser Lage

  • 5 of 5

The perfect Chalet for the perfect vacation

  • 5 of 5

Family with 2 adults and 3 children. We stayed during Aug.

Waking up in the morning and seeing the Jurgenfrau in front of you makes you feel you are in vacation for real or maybe in a post card.

The location of Gridelwald is perfect for those who wish to stay in the Jurgenfrau area for some time. The chalet is outside of the center of Grindewald. You can reach the center by bus or car. Parking in the center cost money (make sure you have some coins with you). We were the whole week.

The chalet is great. Its made of wood and gives a warm feeling. The side which faces the Jurgenfrau is made of glass and provides a continuous panoramic view on the mountains while you are in the chalet. The bedrooms were convenient. Showers are clean. There is also a shower on the floor level is you are a larger family.

The living room is beautiful and is the perfect place for family reunion. Every night we were sitting there and listening to music, reading, watching the pictures from our day trip and playing together.

The kitchen is great and has all what you need to cook for the family. Cooking with the kids was fun. The dining hall is facing the amazing view of the Juregnfrau.

You can seat on the small porch which is facing the mountains and enjoy the view with a glass of wine. The artists among you can seat and draw the magnificent view.

There is a small garden where the children can play outside.

What you have to bring from home-If you like to draw/paint, don’t forget your drawing materials. Music device (there is no stereo system)- We brought our iPAD mobile speaker. This is a Nesspresso machine on the chalet. Bring you own capsules. I couldn’t get them in Grindelwald. If you wish to watch movies bring a mobile DVD.

Diarmmuid, welcomed us on the first day. He is nice, fair and service oriented. Before we arrived he sent us an information package on the chalet and the area. During our visit he asked if we need help and if we are good. He was available for questions.

Payment is done by paypal or direct money transfer. Check which way is cheaper. Paypal took 5% transaction fee.

Our kids never wanted to leave the chalet, As I said the perfect place for the perfect vacation.

Dominated by the world famous Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau mountains it boasts the country's highest density of dramatic scenery. The village is the stating point for hundreds of walking trails, mountain biking trails, paragliding, rafting and much more in the summer months and for its skiing and snowboarding during the winter months when it becomes a lively winter ski resort. Set beneath the towering peak of the Eiger you couldn't be in a more beautiful setting. There is train station in town making it easily accessible from any part of Switzerland.
