About Gail Phillp

Ric and Gail Phillp , ex-ski instructors ,retired to France in 2008 from Andorra to enjoy their hobbies-walking, cycling, golf, amateur bird watching. Ric to build his kit car and learn to play the saxophone ! Gail to create and potter in her garden in between playing golf and volunteering the local Dog Refuge, making cakes, jam and chutney!

Both of us have always loved the countryside and mountains and feel we have found the ideal spot to live with Foxy our rescue dog now our children have left home.

Gail Phillp purchased this cottage in 2000

What makes this cottage unique

This is one of the most peaceful and beautiful locations in the sunflower region of Gascony. Boasting over 300 days of sunshine per year we are lucky to be able to eat outside nearly all year round, enjoying that view which made us fall in love with this property.!

From our door step we can walk or cycle on virtually empty roads and tracks.

We can play golf admiring views of the Pyrenees on uncrowded courses.

We have plenty of good varied,, well priced, local restaurants (within 10 mins ) offering wonderful Gascony cuisine with very friendly service

Yet,,although we're away from everywhere we're also very well situated -

We can ski in the winter or take a hike in the mountains once the snow has melted

We're within easy reach of the the main cities , Toulouse , Auch, Tarbes , Lourdes , where there are plenty of things to do and see .

No wonder we often think we are living in Paradis !

Guestbook comments from the owner

Peaceful and relaxing stay

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed a lovely stay in this quiet spot. Swimming in the cooling pool whilst watching the cows stroll by and sunbathing with nothing to hear but the birds. This is the ideal place for a get away from it all holiday and we had the opportunity to spend quality family time together.

Idyllic setting

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our week here. The gite is perfect for two people. The garden with its wonderful views and the delightful pool make it a great place to relax.

It is also ideally situated for trips into the mountains. We particularly recommend going up the Pic du Midi and making the journey to the Cirque de Gavarnie.

We are happy to recommend this property.

We have had a wonderful stay at Le Petit Rossignol, perfect location to explore the mountains, Pic du Midi, St Bertrand de Comminges, Save Gorge and Col des Ares, also perfect for visiting Gers, had a great day among the sunflowers in the Marciac area. Great food locally, Gail & Ric happy to share the best places to eat! Our two Staffies had a fab time, there are great walks right from the gite, through fields and along the canal, we walked

Ideal for a couple.

  • 4 of 5

Fantastic sunsets and sunrises with amazing panoramic views of mountains. Nice patio and outdoor space, great for enjoying weather and views. Villa was easy to find, a straight forward drive from Toulouse airport and to days out like driving to the mountains, thermal spas, walking, caves as well as supermarkets etc. Gail was really helpful and easygoing. Thanks for a lovely fortnight.

Here in this unspoilt corner of Magnoac in the day you can sample the culinary delights of Gascony, wander around the local markets, sit and watch the red kites soaring and tumbling in clear blue skies while enjoying a glass of the local wine on the terrace, watching the sunset behind the mountains, all accompanied by the evening chorus of the crickets and frogs in the nearby pond ! Then at night you can find a local fete to dance the night away or just enjoy star gazing and experience the most amazing skies in this non polluted region of France..

For the more active there are ample walks in this beautiful countryside, cycling along quiet roads or off road following the small canal, golf at one of the many not quiet and picturesque golf courses in the area. For bird watching, swimming, canoeing and fishing there are 3 lakes with in 15 mins. Also close by are horse riding stables and a local aerodrome for sky diving and parachuting.

The Tour de France, in July, comes through the area each year and is an exciting event to watch and experience even for non cyclists !

Further afield each year, in August, you can go to the famous

International Jazz festival at Marciac.
