Lovely Andalucian Townhouse In Villananueva De Tapia

Overview

Property

Updated: 20-Nov-2016

Just off the main square sits this jewel of a town house with private swimming pool. Step through the massive wooden doors and you will find a cool, comfortable and spacious interior.. Recently renovated in traditional Andalucian style on three floors yet having every modern convenience. The sunny, furnished pool area is a real suntrap and there is a lovely shaded 'chill' out area at the end of the enclosed rear garden, the ideal spot for taking a well earned siesta during the hottest part of the day. The property is situated at the very centre of this attractive white 'pueblo' of the Antequera region. Step outside and shops, markets, banks and bars are a short stroll away. Long hot summer nights bring the local community out on the streets creating a lively family atmosphere particularly at fiesta time.

Lovely Spanish townhouse in a very Spanish village

  • 5 of 5

The townhouse, village and area were all beautiful and the weather amazing. While being in the heart of the village took me a few days to get used to, once settled we felt very relaxed, chilled and part of village life. Eating out with the locals in the evenings and exploring nearby Iznajar and it's amazing lake, was a wonderful experience. The views in the morning from the balcony were fantastic. We will certainly visit the area again and would certainly stay in the townhouse.

It can be a little noisy in the mornings and evenings but that's just part of village life and we embraced it - wonderful week! Thanks Nigel 👍☀️🕶🍷😎

Very comfortable spacious house with lovely pool in garden. Located in centre of traditional non-touristy village.

Lovely village house with great pool

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our 7 day stay at this lovely village house. The house and most notably the pool area was really well-maintained, and everything worked - it sounds a pretty basic requirement, but it's such a delight in a rented house when absolutely everything does work. Staying in mid-August, we can vouch that the aircon is very effective in the bedrooms, and the airflow in the other parts of the house ensures it's comfortable enough. We were slightly surprised at how small a village it is (compared with other Andalucian villages we have stayed in), and the food shops, consisting of one small general store and two greengrocers and a butchers, seemed to have very limited opening hours that we struggled with throughout, especially as we arrived on a Saturday evening. But the smallness of Villanueva de Tapia is part of the charm, and supermarkets are only a 15 minute drive away. There are also 4 small bars almost adjacent to the property, with tables in the street which from 8am (in August) are populated almost entirely by old men chatting loudly, and then from 8pm until 2am they are joined by families of all ages, eating and drinking and chatting even more loudly. It's all very jolly and friendly and full of local colour and atmosphere, and one can join in or else close the windows and shutters to effectively seal off most of the noise. A great experience.

Beautiful Village House

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in this delightful house in April 2016, the inside of the house is furnished beautifully, the small balcony at the back is lovely to have both breakfast and lunch and the seating area by the bbq is a wonderful place to have a late siesta out of the sun. We thoroughly enjoyed our week here, it was very quiet except for the dawn chorus of bird which woke us every morning. All though there are three bars very close by, they seemed to be frequented by older clientele and never caused us a problem, there was no music or roakus behaviour, just general village life, it was lovely to experience. A thoroughly good holiday.

Fantastic for Families

  • 4 of 5

This house has everything for a great family vacation to southern Spain, and was exactly as presented in the pictures. Set in a charming town, it was within 1-1 1/2 hours drive time to Granada, Cordoba, the White Hill Towns, and the coast. Allow at least 5 days to explore. The house is spacious, clean, and well appointed. The furniture and beds are comfortable. The swimming pool and deck are a delight. Communication with Nigel (the owner) was easy. Parking was plentiful on the street in front of the house. We loved our stay here. Be advised, that there are 2 bars located nearby, and patron noise can be disruptive in 2 (street facing) of the 3 bedrooms late at night on the weekends, and in the early mornings...the only drawback, otherwise a 5 star experience.

Lovely house for a big group ....

  • 4 of 5

The house has been beautifully restored, was very clean and tidy and is very spacious. For us (a family of 3), it was really too big but would of course be great for a larger group. I think that it's not an ideal location out of season as there really was nothing to do in the small village so everyday we needed to use the car. Perhaps it is livelier in the summer. In the lovely main bedroom it was very noisy first thing in the morning - I think with deliveries arriving. It would have helped to have an instruction manual for the electrical appliances and the heating controls. So, for us it wasn't ideal, but I think we just made the wrong choice on this occasion - it is a lovely house and I imagine in the summer it would be a different experience for a larger group.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your comments. As the house is in the middle of a typical Spanish village there will be activity at hours which perhaps are not usual in the UK in particularly in the morning when deliveries are made and rubbish bins are emptied and in the late evening when the locals come out to drink and gossip.. The house is centrally located for visiting the wonderful cities of Granada, Seville and Cordoba with any number of other attractions outside of the village which can be reached easily using the nearby and extensive motorway system. As the village is only small it is strongly recommended that guests hire a car to maximise the potential of their stay. Thank you for pointing out the lack of manuals for the electrical goods and the boiler. These should have been in the small study area next to the master bedroom. I will get replacements ( if available) as soon as possible.

Villanueva de Tapia is a small village of 1700 inhabitants situated just off the A333. It is typical of the white villages of the Antequera region of Spain. It can be reached via an easy 1hr drive from Malaga airport passing through rolling hills studded with olive groves and cereal fields. The village is quintissentially Spanish and moves to the ryhthms of rural working life. In the village itself can be found banks, grocery stores, pharmacy, butchers, general store and fruit market. There are a number of local bars serving tapas and typical Spanish fare. Nearby lie the towns of Archidona and the hilltown of Iznajar overlooking its manmade lake. The fascinating and historical cities of Granada, Malaga, Cordoba and Seville all can be reached on an easy day trip via the extensive motorway system.
