Overview: Our fine elegant Kensington apartment is on the raised ground floor within a period building with private garden square. This is a sought after central location close to the Gloucester Road Underground Station. We have shops, pubs and restaurants nearby and are within walking distance to many important landmarks, i.e. Hyde Park, The Museum Row and Kensington Palace; as well as Kensington High Street, Harrods/Sloane Street and the Kings Road in Chelsea. The immediate neighbourhood of the Gloucester and Brompton Roads are well appreciated and known within this borough, with a cosmopolitan mix of residents and visitors alike.

Details: Our apartment offers spacious proportions, with plenty of character, gorgeous period features, marble fireplace (decorative), impressive high ceilings and large bay windows. It is our second home, nicely furnished and decorated, very well kept and fully equipped. Our Living / Dining Room awaits you with an inviting ambiance and a sense of space. Interactive TV, iPod/phone stereo docking and high speed wifi. We have a large bedroom and a small study / single bed room. A modern bathroom with walk-in shower, underfloor heating and a washer-dryer. In addition we have an en-suite powder room at the master bedroom. A fully equipped kitchen including dishwasher, hob, oven, microwave, toaster, kettle, coffee machine, fridge, freezer. Everything you need to eat in and relax at home if you wish.

Neighbourhood: We are in a period building in South Kensington in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, one of the most sought after areas in London. Mostly professionals, local and expats, live in this neighbourhood. We are ideally placed only five minutes’ walk from Gloucester Road Underground with direct access to Heathrow airport. Many shops, restaurants, bars and pubs, supermarkets and gourmet grocers are in the immediate vicinity.

Location: You can walk in between 10-25 mins to the various important landmarks such as the famous museum row with the Victoria and Albert Museum, Natural History Museum, Science Museum, Royal College of Music and Royal College of Art. As well as High Street Kensington, Hyde Park, Kensington Palace, Kensington Gardens, the Diana Memorial Fountain, Serpentine Gallery and Lake (for boating), the Royal Albert Hall and famous Harrods with surrounding designer shops of Sloane Street.

It is also very convenient for public transport access only a 3-5 mins walk to bus stops and Gloucester underground station. You can hail a taxi at your doorstep . From Gloucester station, you can get straight to the Theatre District, Green Park, Buckingham Palace, the Tower of London, Westminster with the Houses of Parliament, the London Eye, Piccadilly Circus, St. Paul’s Cathedral and more. This location is really convenient for getting everywhere in London. Easy and direct access to Heathrow airport via underground or the M4 and M25 motorway.

About Silvia

We are a canadian/german family and this is our holiday home in London. We live and work in Singapore and our families are in Toronto and Frankfurt, our friends are living all over and that is why London makes a good middle ground for meeting up with everyone. We spend many memorable times together here in London, we all enjoy tremendously what this city has to offer. We have been holiday renting via VRBO/HomeAway since early 2012 and hope our visitors will find the same enjoyment and can make happy memories in staying at our place in London.

Why Silvia chose Kensington and Chelsea

We like this neighbourhood and the period buildings with their private garden squares. We loved this flat and knew this was it the minute we walked in - the proportions, big windows, high ceilings, period features, a gentleman owner who had kept it immaculate - the sale was agreed in a day. We had been coming to stay in Kensington&Chelsea since the 1990'ies and have friends who live in this neighborhood or else own a second home here. And we wanted to be able to spend more time in London. We feel familiar, safe and comfortable and we like the convenient location and we like to walk - which we never do much in Singapore. I like to walk up to High Street Kensington or down to the Kings Road to meet friends for a coffee or lunch and a bit of shopping. Or just pop around the corner to a cafe or a pub to meet for a coffee or drink on short notice. I'll have a walk to visit my favourite, the Victoria & Albert Museum, just by myself. If I feel like going for a power walk or son/husband feel like a jog, we are at the Hyde Park in a few mins. In summer we take a picnic and sit on the sun chairs watching everyone enjoying a relaxing time, and there's always something going on in the Park. This neighbourhood is very cosmopolitan and the South Kensington weekend market is a piece of little Paris - oh the food! I think London is a walking city and being in this location you never miss a car. If we need to get anywhere beyond walking distance the tube is 4 mins away or a taxi available outside the front door. But, our flat is our second home, it certainly has the ambience and comfort to also enjoy just staying in, relaxing and have the world go by. We feel it really offers us a reprieve from the tropics and busy daily life in Singapore.

We love the generous sense of space, the high ceilings, period fire place, stuccoed ceilings, chandeliers, window to the quiet court yard in the bed room. Being able to open the double doors between lounge and bedroom to open up the space, it is a comfortable and inviting space and has a good ambiance. Our art work and decorative pieces had been with us many years or were additions from more recent travels, so it feels like our second home, not just a pied-a-terre. We have enough space to share a social week end with entertaining friends or enjoy some quiet, relaxation time after a busy day bustling about in the galleries, museums etc. We love the 'holiday size' of the apartment, big enough not to feel too crowded with four people, but small enough not to worry too much about all the household chores to keep it tidy and clean.

We are within walking distance to the famous Museum Row on Cromwell Road -- including the Natural History Museum, Science Museum, and Victoria and Albert Museum, and the Geographic Society. Also to the Kensington Palace and Hyde Park. Minutes away from many shops and restaurants on the Gloucester Road and Old Brompton Road. Walking distance to High Street Kensington and Kings Road Chelsea, Knightsbridge with Harrods and the fashion boutiques of Sloane Street.

Any other major attractions are easily accessible from this central London location! You can hop on a double decker bus or take the tube to the theatre district in the Westend, Tower of London, Buckingham Palace, St. Paul’s Cathedral, The Tate Galleries, The National Gallery, The British Museum and so on – door to door 20-30mins on public transport.
