One of the most desirable places to rent a holiday property on the lovely island of Mallorca is thheate Pollensa area, highlighted by the quaint old town and its nearby Port.

The beauty of Cal Rei Gran, a delightful restored 6-bedroom single-storey holiday villa, is that it is situated in the picturesque countryside between Pollensa town and Port de Pollensa. So you get the best of both worlds!

The interior of Cal Rei Gran is fabulous. Spot the cool Philipe Starck designs. Drool over the gorgeous Italian Bontempi kitchen. Check out the superb lighting design. And appreciate the fabulous top quality furnishings…there’s a touch of ‘hotel chic’ about this superb holiday villa, characterized by cool, contemporary features and attractive décor.

There’s a large flat screen satellite TV mounted on the wall so you can keep up with all your favourite TV programmes, and you benefit from air conditioning and wi-fi throughout.

One of the most appealing factors of Cal Rei Gran is that everything is on one low level. You don’t have to bother with stairs. In fact, the property delivers a lovely spacious flow of living space dominated by the attractive, open plan living and dining area. Large, fluffy cushions everywhere add to your feeling of comfort. The sliding patio doors ensure that your holiday home is bathed with that soft Mediterranean light that we all love so much.

Access to the outdoor area is also easy – there is just one step which can be accessed if necessary by using a small ramp.

The large, fully fitted main kitchen is a joy. Gleaming with design by the Italian company Bontempi, it’s all chrome and stainless steel with all the mod cons you need.

The villa sleeps up to 12 people in a total of 6 bedrooms, 4 of them in the main house. The star attraction is the master bedroom with a four-poster bed. Several of the 5 bathrooms feature walk-in showers. Bed linen and towels are supplied.

Separate and across the way you’ll find a pretty 2-bedroomed ‘casita’ (little house) with a bathroom. There’s a chill out space too, the perfect place to wind down after a busy day exploring the area.

A nice little touch here is the covered terrace with pretty dining furniture, as well as a breakfast terrace on the west side of the villa.

The exterior of Villa Cal Rei Gran is stunning. There’s a large private swimming pool with a stepped entrance. Luxurious loungers and large sunshades make it ideal for sitting out in the sun.

The rectangular pool is illuminated at night, and with the backdrop of the gorgeous Tramuntana mountains, it’s a lovely place to relax and watch the sun go down.

There’s a covered barbecue area too, so you can dine al fresco if the mood takes you.

A beautiful, landscaped large garden featuring mature trees and a playground area with swings and a ping-pong table makes the property ideal for families with young children. An automatic irrigation system keeps the grass looking lush.

And if you want to keep fit whilst on holiday, there is a small gymnasium for your use. There is also ample parking space.

Pollenca is without any doubt, one of the most beautiful parts of Mallorca. It is believed that this is where tourism on the island first began. This was the preferred destination for painters and artists at the beginning of the century. The landscape here is so diverse; steep mountains meet lonely shores with deep, blue waters. The green of the pine trees contrasts with the grey of the limestone rocks. Pollenca sits in the north eastern corner of the island, close to Formentor and Alcudia.

Pollenca is a typical Mallorcan town and is a maze of narrow, winding streets. Each has a character of its own and all are worthy of exploration. In the heart of the old town you will find quiet spots, untouched by tourism. In the centre you will find a flight of 365 steps that lead to the Calvario at the top. Most visitors attempt the climb. At the base of the steps is a delightful square with cafes and restaurants. It is the proud owner of a Roman bridge, that spans a small stream. The nearby square features a fountain dated 1827 and adorned with the image of a cockerel, the symbol of the town. If you enter Pollença from the main Lluc to Pollença road you will see the bridge on your left as you head for the town centre.

East of the town lies its port 'Port de Pollença'. The port owes its fame due to the fact that it is one of the most beautiful on the island and also one of the deepest and most closed. The bay has sandy beaches and shallow turquoise waters which makes it popular for family trips. There is a first class infrastructure and a lot of entertainment offered like all type of water sports, shopping and nightlife.

The fisherman's wharf has recently been pedestrianised with sweeping wooden walkways and is an attraction in itself. You will also find a wide array of restaurants to choose from, offering every manner of gourmet delights. Sunday is market day and all manner of local goods can be found.
