About the property

3 Bedrooms, 3 Bathrooms, 1 Kitchen, 1 Big Living Room

'Set in its own grounds, with access via a private gate, the Villa, which resembles a small castle, has a private swimming pool, and dramatic views over the beautiful Val di Pavone - the Valley of the Peacock River - and of the majestic Rocca di Sillana, an Etruscan/Roman fortress, modified in the 16th century by the Florentine Medici family.

The Villa Rocca itself is on two floors: the Ground floor, consisting of the Kitchen, with 'fridge, gas hob, electric oven, and dishwasher, microwave oven and dining area; and the adjacent Living Room with seating for 8 and having a large open Tuscan fireplace and a bathroom with shower, bidet, toilet and a washing machine On the First floor is a landing, with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, giving accommodation for up to 6 adults and 2 children. On the top of the house is a roof terrace bordered by the battlements.

Outside there is the swimming pool ,6mt x12mt (high of water 1,60 mt), plus a covered terrace, private gardens and a convenient barbecue for outside living and dining.

It is situated 2km from the small village of Montecastelli, 8km from Pomarance with its shops, bars and supermarket, 20km from Colle val d'Elsa, 36km from Etruscan Volterra, 40km from San Gimignano with its medieval towers, 60km from Siena and 80km from the Renaissance wonders of Florence. The seaside, with its Blue Riband beaches and its many fish restaurants, is about 70km distant, so the Villa Rocca is ideally situated for all cultural activities as well as for relaxation and self-indulgence.'

Peaceful with stunning views

  • 5 of 5

Very peaceful as no near neighbours. Stunning views across the valley to the castle. Nedda and her friends made us very welcome even inviting us to a secret restaurant to enjoy local cuisine. Perfect for a family wanting peace and quiet. Small restaurant in the nearby town of Montecastelli where the staff are friendly and the food was good. Supermarket closes on Sunday and is 20 minutes away so need to stock up beforehand

A peaceful retreat in the stunning Peacock Valley

  • 4 of 5

We stayed at I Poggi in July 2014 with our teenage children and had a wonderful time. The villa was spacious and clean but furnishings and equipment a little dated. However, this has not stopped us from booking in 2015.

The private swimming pool is a good size, well maintained and with views over the stunning Peacock Valley. This is a perfect place for those seeking privacy and just outside Montecastelli so a car is essential. We went to Florence by train from Poggibonsi and explored the local area. We found the Manager and family very friendly and extremely helpful.

If arriving later on a Saturday, it maybe worth considering that most supermarkets and local shops close on Sundays so stock up with provisions en route or arrive earlier in the day.

Tuscany Paradise

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic 3 week stay in the I Poggi villa. When you enter the gate to the premisses for the first time you just cannot believe the beautiful view over the green valley. The house is situated centrally on a hill such that you have full privacy, it is just you and the incredible landscape. The very large swimming pool is situated a terras downhill, great place for children where we enjoyed long sunset evenings. The utilisation of the house is at high standard, the house is being looked after very well. The family that manage the rental live at 5 kilometers, Nedda, Matteo and Gionatan and have been so kind to us! Also we have spent time in Pisa, Florence, beautiful villages and the beach all at short drive distance. There are great possibilities for long walks in the nature. A small paradise in Tuscany we will recommend to our friends and come back to.

Petit coin de paradis

  • 5 of 5

Atemberaubende Lage, super Pool, mangelhafte Ausstattung - Preis zu hoch

  • 3 of 5
