About Nadia Watkins

my family have had property in Estellencs since 1952 . My sisters and myself went to school in the village as young children . For us it was a kind of Paradise . The whole village was our playground and we feel very much part of this village. We love coming back to see everyone and our children and grandchildren also love coming for their holidays.

Nadia Watkins purchased this house in 1965

Why Nadia Watkins chose Calvia - Andratx Region

This simple but charming house is in a lovely position at the top of the village overlooking the stunning views of hills and the sea . The little balcony is perfect for watching the spectacular sunsets over the sea.

This area of the village is only for pedestrians, so there are no traffic noises.

What makes this house unique

This village and the beautiful surroundings make it a unique place.

This corner of the village has its own quiet charm overlooking an overgrown lemon orchard and the big trees in the Casita's garden.

The 3 floors of the house have charm and feel welcoming.

Guestbook comments from the manager

Your house was exactly what we had hoped for; very nice traditional, a garden with orange and lemon trees.Perfect location by the sea with mountains behind and not far from Palma!

We rented a car during our visit to travel around. But most days we were walking in the mountains or sitting in the garden reading books or looking at the Mediterranean !

Delightful stay in old Mallorca

  • 4 of 5

The best part of our stay was being in a terrace of traditional Mallorcan stone houses, with big, high ceilinged, cool rooms. It was a relief to come into the cool of the kitchen from the heat outside. The neighbours, who have and use, the neighbourhood's traditional bread oven on their terrace over the way, were warm and welcoming. We were in touch with the village rather than insulated from it. The garden was a great space for eating and relaxing. House spotlessly clean thanks to Maria. Not for the faint-hearted though - we got very fit going up and down the stairs! And be prepared for quite a long pull up the steps from the road though they are mostly shallow and well spaced. We loved being part of something that was so different. Nadia happened to be staying nearby while we were there; it was a delight to meet her and sense her real love of the village and the people there. On the down side the duvet was too much for us in the warm weather and we had to discard it. Maybe a spare sheet would be helpful? And the church gong! Suffice it to say that with the windows shut at night we got used to it and it didn't trouble us; with the doors to the stairs open and the big airy rooms it didn't matter that the windows were shut. The walking was great - mostly we got up and left at dawn for the coolest part of the day. A truly lovely holiday. Thank you Nadia.

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time to send the review. It's good to hear that you enjoyed Estellencs and your stay in the Casita. Comments from guests are helpful and I will see to it that extra sheets are provided. I only wish you had asked Maria or sent me a text and we could have sorted the problem. Nadia

Loved the house and garden and hope to go again

  • 4 of 5

This house is on a hill, with no parking outside, and has three floors, so it's not for anyone with walking difficulties. But it's a lovely old house, in a quiet village, with a garden with a view down to the sea. The beach is not the best but it's swimmable and a lovely downhill walk to get there. Restaurants are a bit limited, but there are a couple of good ones (not the so-called Italian). Parking must be very difficult in high season, but the supermarket is very limited, so car hire is essential. The bed was comfortable, though the pillows a bit hard. There's no TV, just a selection of books. But we loved the house and garden and hope to go again soon.

An authentic village house

  • 5 of 5

The casita is a cosy village house, close to the centre with the bar and restaurant, and only a minute away form the start of various walks into the mountains or to the sea. Everything you need is there, but it is simple. When we arrived the heating was on, a welcoming gesture that we much appreciated. The kitchen has a three-burner electric stove which was sufficient to cook our meals; there's even an oven. Bathroom small but sufficient (plan the hot water use). The bed is excellent and we notably slept better than at home. The church bells are not disturbing at all. I would choose this little house again over the luxury of an impersonal holiday apartment!

Unresolved dispute

  • 1 of 5

The property was wrongly listed with (nonexistent) internet access but the owner refused a full refund when the fact became evident a few weeks before scheduled arrival. Very unpleasant communication and the worst experience with any ownersdirect property ever.

Owner's Response: This started with a misunderstanding, unfortunately.I had not realised that the advertisement had gone live on Owners Direct as I am dealing directly with Home Away . On the description it had a button which said WIFI and if the anonymous person had clicked that tab he would have seen that it said NOT IN THE HOUSE. About 3 weeks before his stay he was very put out and angry , I did point out that if he had read all the details on the website it was all very clear.I agreed to refund the main payment but kept the deposit being at such a late stage.I did this straight away believing it was agreed tween us. February 2016 I get a most aggressive communication saying if I did not pay the deposit he would see me in court ! I did not reply to his threats. I believe my record throughout these years and the reviews show how I behave towards my guests. This being also ANONYMOUS says something .

a nice located, tasteful and comfortable house

  • 5 of 5

The sparkling white, wellgroomed casita is situated in a calm and authentic part of Estellencs. A tasteful furnishing and the atmosphere of hospitality (not only shown by fruits and warmth as a welcome) together with the wonderful site made every hour of our stay to a pleasure. Therefore we spent much time in or in front of the casita - unless we enjoyed the daily wonderful route to the rough seaside or trips to the neighboured mountains and villages ... To sum up our impressions: We thank Nadia! All our expectations are fulfilled, even surpassed! We look forward to a return!

Beautiful peaceful spot

  • 5 of 5

My partner and I (mid-late 60s) spent a wonderful week in the Casita in May. The house was perfect for our needs, well fitted out, attractive and very clean and spacious and we loved the balcony, The weather was such (low 70s) that we were able to sit out each evening and enjoy a drink while admiring the fantastic views of the sea and mountains. We didn't use the garden much although we liked the lemon trees and the enormous palm and I imagine in the heat of the summer, it would be a lovely place to sit.

We managed the steps up to the house with no problem and the fact that it is pedestrianised and above the main street means that it is wonderfully peaceful.. The only slight blight was the somewhat random chiming of the church clock which seemed to have a mind of its own and was not to be relied on for accuracy!

Estellencs itself is a delightful place well away from the crowds and very unspoilt. We used to enjoy the walk down to the cove and back (only takes about an hour) past a lot of small-holdings - everyone seems to grow a variety of crops and the irrigation system is fascinating.

There is a good bar/cafe on the opposite side of the main road and the Montimar, a really good restaurant, is at the bottom of the path and steps leading up to the casita. The food was excellent and plenty of it. Do try the suckling pig.

Although we hired a car and enjoyed driving the amazing windy roads (and avoiding the cyclists), the bus service is excellent and takes about an hour to Palma arriving at the main bus station which is relatively close to the centre and next to the train station to Soller

Overall, we had a wonderful holiday, really enjoyed ourselves and would definitely recommend both the Casita and Estellencs. Nadia too was extremely helpful in providing information and sorting things out.
