About the Owner

Having lived on the islands 19yrs I suppose I can now be classed as a local, formerly from Manchester in the UK. Needless to say I love the islands and the most prominent factor being the people of Malta, warm heart, sense of humour, respectful, strong family morals just about sums it up! Oh yes, to mention of course the super weather we are blessed with, after many years of rainy summers in England I am not only blessed with sunshine, but my darling local lady Carrol.

We enjoy eating out, especially Carrol..! You can be sure to enjoy some fine restaurants all over the islands, where quality is high on the menu with a great local bottle of red to wash it down, yep the true Mediterranean Maltese way. Summer months are a delight to swim in crystal blue waters and a very warm sea, snorkelling is a must!

Please do ask any questions about the accommodation or the islands as a whole, I'm a well seasoned wealth of local knowledge after 19yrs I don't think there is much I didn't do, see or eat ;)

All the Best,

Paul & Carrol

Great place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

This year in Gozo, we rented a farmhouse in Gharb, which, by extraordinary coincidence, overlooked the shrine of Ta' Pinu. The house was called Dar is-Sultan,

The Resindece is located in Għarb which is the most north-western point of the island. We have stayed in this village numerous times before and really like it. It is close to Victoria (the centre of the island) and very close to Dwejra, which is the area where the Blue Hole, Azure Window, and Inland Sea all are located, also, the area that featured in the wedding of Drogo to Daenerys Targaryen in the first series of Game of Thrones.

Entrance to the farmhouse is down quite a narrow alleyway just opposite Jeffrey's Restaurant. You enter the house through a wonderful little courtyard.

The air con was much appreciated as it was really warm during our stay, high 30's to mid 40's. I don't find this a problem as long as I have a pool nearby to cool off in! We only used the air con at night,.

It's quite beautiful and the whole place is impressively appointed. Amazing sitting room, the mill room, which is spectacular! It has a lot of beautiful and interesting items in it, cannon balls and an antique confessional.

Of course the most important part of the house on a holiday such as this has to be the pool and garden. The house benefits from a covered BBQ area complete with cushioned seating and a patio table and chairs. This allowed us to enjoy our meals al-fresco. At the rear of the property are all these gardens where the family that own it grow melons, tomatoes, peppers, onions, aubergines, and olives. There is also a little stone path weaving through the garden, a bench at the back where you can sit next to the grape vine and watch the world go by.

Not a bad place to spend a couple of weeks eh?

Gharb is a village located at the westernmost point of the island of Gozo, Malta, with a population of 1,554 people as of March 2011. It started life as a small hamlet centuries ago. You can see its ancient roots in the centre of the village where some houses have fine examples of decorated stone balconies. Gharb was created as a parish in 1679, a move which gave impetus for the building of a new, baroque parish church. Built between 1699 and 1729, it has an elegant façade which has been compared with Francesco Borromini's Church of Saint Agnes in Piazza Navona, Rome. The village square, so quintessentially Gozitan, has become the view on many a postcard. On the square is a fascinating folklore museum housing all sorts of memorabilia retelling the Islands' rural history.
