....Absolutely breathtaking and incredible place to escape to enjoy the views and beautiful mountains! No place in the world like the Samuraj in Saas Fee! Truly remarkable and an adventure of a lifetime.... New Year 2013

Chalet Samuraj is located just 350m (8 minute walk) from the main ski lifts, closer still for direct access to the slopes and just a short 3 minute walk to the village centre. The 196 sq m chalet sleeps 9, and has three double bedrooms, (one double is ensuite) and two single bedrooms, one with bunks. 4 of the bedrooms have direct access to large south facing balconies with spectacular views of the village, glacier and mountains. The chalet has a large sunny open plan living/kitchen area, with an extendable dining table that can seat up to 12 persons. The kitchen is fully equipped including a Nespresso coffee machine, slow cooker, Raclette and Fondue sets. The sunny chalet benefits from south and west facing verandah off the sitting room with table and chairs, with some of the best views in the resort.

Chalet Samuraj is available to rent on a self-catering basis all year round, with prices from CHF 1600 per week.

Picturesque chalet

The chalet was homely, clean and had everything needed except for a cafetière that was provided when asked. It was a little disappointing to find you had to pay for using the washing machine and drier when this was not mentioned on the website. I also think the website information should have included all the extra payments you have to make if you want to ski in Saas Fee. These include the citizens pass, taxis to get luggage to and from the chalet ( not cheap), bin bags and car parking.

Owner's Response: I am pleased you had a good time staying at the chalet and note your comments on some of the additional costs that you incurred when visiting Saas Fee. The citizens pass scheme and costs were fully detailed in the quotation and provide discounts for many things including ski passes and car parking. In addition guests at Chalet Samuraj enjoy generous discounts at both the ski school and ski equipment hire shops which also provide access to the ski storage facilities by the slopes. I try to provide as many complimentary offerings as possible such as starter food pack, Prosecco, shower and hand soap, Nespresso/coffee capsules, cleaning materials and so on. Most chalets do not provide any local refuse sacks, whilst I provide 1 just to get guests started. The small charge for the washing machine is purely to discourage overuse because of the high cost of electricity and water in Switzerland. In this instance both an early bag drop and late check out was also provided with no additional charges levied. I do hope this puts some of your comments into context and the issues did not unduly spoil your holiday. We would love to see you again and many thanks for leaving the chalet in such a clean and tidy condition. Best wishes, Martin and June

Fantastic located Chalet

-Excellent location overviewing the village and valley with stunning view to the glacier.Quiet area, no tourist crowd around. We spend Sylvester here in first row watching fireworks from the terrace.

-hiking trails (winter & Summer) directly behind the chalet. 500m walk from chalet to plenty of ski lifts and cable cars bringing you up to 3500m if you like!

-Nice cheminee, spacious rooms and well equipped kitchen.

-great service and responsiveness of the owner in following up special requests and overall support given by very friendly guy (Colin).


-bathrooms old fashioned but well functioning. Owner mentioned that renovation will take place in May`15.

Overall: just can recommend the chalet! Tip/Top!

Immaculate well equipped Chalet

Fantastic Large Chalet! South facing balconies with amazing views, great underfloor heating with lovely traditional log fire! Comfortable beds and pillows. Fully equipped kitchen with luxury appliances. Wifi and A short walk to the village with lots of restaurants and pubs. Loved it, ski ing for all levels, would definitely recommend.

Glorious sunshine and snow at Chalet Samuraj

Lovely chalet, well equipped and very clean. We had a great week due to fabulous weather and plenty of sunshine on the slopes. The Chalet description is accurate and it is obviously a much cherished second home. All the local restaurants we sampled were excellent, but lunch on the terrace of the Bristol Hotel is particularly memorable for the fantastic views, lovely and very attentive staff- as well as the most delicious meal we enjoyed whilst in Saas Fee. Optimum Ski School were excellent and highly recommended.

Nice chalet in a very nice village

We appreciated the chalet and his location, close to the village center. We found everything that we needed in the chalet, even a Nespresso machine! We had a very good customer service and Kat the housekeeper was very nice and helpful. We would recommend this chalet to friends and we are actually looking for a new rental next year.

From the Owner

We have enjoyed many holidays in Saas Fee, both skiing and summer hiking and it is a beautiful and truly all year round holiday village. The property is a traditional chalet of around 20 years old and was built and lived in by the Bumann family until the decided to move to a new house in the village. It is immaculately maintained and gives us the potential to modernise it further to enhance its future enjoyment for us, our family, friends and guests. The views over the village and mountains are worth the short uphill walk from the village. Because of the glacier and the high elevation, snow each year is guaranteed as are long periods of sunshine caused by the villages own micro-climate. We hope you will enjoy staying at Samuraj as much as we do ourselves.

Award winning Saas Fee is a car free glacier village. In the Saas Valley, known as “the pearl of the Alps,” tourism dates to the 1830s, when local priest Father Johann Josef Imseng – the first skier in Switzerland – began guiding visitors into the surrounding panoramic terrain. Now, as then, travelers to Saas-Fee journey along steep mountainsides and deep gorges into the heart of the Pennine Alps, where authentic Swiss chalet villages are encircled by Europe’s giant peaks. There are free electric buses within the resort itself. It lies on a high plateau at 1800 metres above sea level, at the foot of the highest Swiss mountain, The Dom. At this high altitude, there is guaranteed snow during the winter season and glacier skiing all year round. It is a very pretty village with lots of character and traditional charm. There are over 100 km of ski slopes, snowboard parks, 30 km of hiking trails and a 6km toboggan run. For non-skiers Saas Fee has plenty to offer with tobogganing, ice-skating and winter mountain walking.

The summer months are equally stunning, with fresh air, walking, hiking, climbing, cycling (on or off road) and an aubundance of activities going on to keep all ages entertained. The air is as pure as anywhere in Europe.

Travelling to Saas Fee is straightforward and there are a number of options. Apart the driving, there are also a number of direct flights to Geneva, Zurich or Milan. There are good rail connections from the airports to Visp, the nearest major town and then a short bus journey up the mountain to Saas Fee itself. There is also car hire available at the airport and indoor parking at the top of the village. Inclusive in the rental price is a transfer taxi from the village bus terminal or car park for you and your luggage at the beginning and end of your stay

  • Chalet Samuraj is on a fair gradient with a number of steps to the chalet. It may take a little more effort to reach the chalet but the views and location will more than make up for this.
