This modern, minimalistic flat is on the second floor of a medieval building right in the heart of the old quarter of Annecy. It has a Juliet balcony overlooking a mainly pedestrianised street with many shops and restaurants and regular markets. Although, even at the end of September, the area was bustling with activity, there was no disturbance with the balcony window closed. It was a real pleasure to step out of the building and straight into the beautiful old town of Annecy.
The apartment has a modern kitchen/lounge and bathroom, with air conditioning in the double bedroom. Although it has the potential to sleep six, this would involve two people sleeping on a double sofa bed in the lounge. There is also a private, secure car parking space (suitable for a compact hatchback) about 8 minutes walk from the flat.
The owner, Pierre was very helpful and pleasant but does not speak English.
We would recommend strolling around Annecy, the boat trips on Lake Annecy and a car trip around the lake. Lyon, Aix-les-Bains, Chambery-Mont Blanc, Geneva and Lausanne are all within driving distance but there are also beautiful medieval villages such as Yvoire.
It is a fairly expensive area, possibly as a result of its proximity to Geneva - the price for a main course started at about 16 euros.
We would thoroughly recommend this apartment in what is one of the most beautiful towns we have visited but would have reservations about its suitability for people with mobility problems.
PS Le Vieux Annecy is NOT the old quarter of Annecy. To reach this apartment, follow the signs for Annecy (town centre and lake) and then the signs for Albertville until you reach signs for the chateau. The private car park is on the rue de la Tour la Reine and is on the right before reaching the public car park on the left and the chateau car park at the end of the road.
