About the property

A House Ideal For Families

Situated off the Maleme-Nea Roumata road 16 km west of Chania and less than 1 km from the centre of Maleme, this handsome old family house with 10m x 5m private swimming pool is set amongst olive groves, some 300 metres from the coast road.

The house is built on two levels and terraced out of the hillside and contains vaulted timber ceilings, complimented by wooden floors and the use of gorgeous, soft creamy marble in the shower rooms.

The main entrance door on the upper level leads into a beautifully fitted kitchen with full cooker, microwave, dishwasher and fridge-freezer, cupboards and ample work surfaces with a creamy marble splash back. To one side there’s a dining table and beyond here an archway leads through to an attractive and comfortably furnished sitting room with a generous sweep of windows on two sides providing wonderful sea view over the olive groves and the village of Maleme, to the distant Rodopou Peninsula.

The double-bedded master bedroom is situated off the sitting room, enjoying similar sea views, it has a large fitted wardrobe as well as the unusual benefit of two shower rooms, both containing a WC and wash hand basin!

Also on this level, off the kitchen, is a further airy room with two single beds and a cupboard and its own en-suite shower room with WC and wash hand basin.

Villa Palma is built on two levels and terraced out of the hillside.

Situated at the lower level and with its own separate entrance door is a studio, complete with two sofa beds as well as a shower room and a washing machine. To the front is a small sitting area, plus a wardrobe and desk unit.

Outside, apart from the usual patio furniture, sunbeds and umbrellas, Villa Palma is a sea of green with terraced lawns sloping down to the stylish wood decking surrounding the pool with just the occasional token stepping stone and a solitary palm tree. These terraces have barriers making the gardens ideal for young children to enjoy and with plenty of space to play .The pool is on the lower level and it has a min depth of 1.2m and a max depth of 1.7m.

About Stefanos Paraskakis

I was born in the village (Maleme) I studied economics in Greece and management in the UK (Aston University MBA)I worked for a ferry shipping company for more than 20 years and few years ago I came back to my place of birth where I produce organic olive oil and manage two properties. I put a lot of work in the renovation of the house and I enjoy welcoming quests and manual work on the farm.

Stefanos Paraskakis purchased this villa in 1964

Why Stefanos Paraskakis chose Chania area

For its modern design by an architect school friend of mine.

This villa is exactly as described and more. It is located privately amongst olive trees out of sight of the road but with superb views over the mountains and sea and still it is within easy walking distance of the village and shops and tavernas, also the bus stop to Chania and Kissamos. The owner is welcoming and gracious and has taken great care to furnish and equip this house to the highest standards.

The garden and pool area is delightful; the pool is cleaned daily and the villa was also cleaned and linen changed half way through our stay of 8 nights.

Highly recommended.

Family bliss

  • 5 of 5

Just arrived home from a truly magical time at villa Palma. Our every need was carefully attended to by the fabulous stefanos. What a great guy with a fantastic talent for creating a beautiful and unique villa. We are a party of 6 adults and 3 children (one of which is 9 months old). Stefanos made sure we had everything we needed to get the best out of our holiday and was always around to help if we needed but at the same time awfully discreet and unobtrusive when coming to maintain the grounds each morning.

We loved the pool and had so many great days relaxing at the villa. The villa is a in a lovely secluded patch with stunning views and great facilities nearby. We will be back for sure!!thank you stefanos

Sublime

  • 5 of 5

My partner and I spent three heavenly days here. As other reviewers have said it is even better than the pictures. The views are stunning with sounds of the ocean at night. Golden eagles hovering nearby by day and owls flying over head at night. A superbly romantic, relaxing get-away.

The house and pool were immaculately clean & well maintained with all necessary and more, needs taken care of. Many thanks for the delicious avocados and oil!

Villa Palma is a real gem and Stefanos was incredibly welcoming and helpful - even accommodating our very last minute booking. He was very interesting and enjoyable to talk to. Stefanos obviously takes great care and pride in providing a very tranquil, relaxing, easy experience. I cannot recommend Villa Palma highly enough.

Absolutely beautiful villa & a warm welcome!

  • 5 of 5

Villa Palma is a beautiful villa with stunning views and a wonderful garden. The villa contains just about everything you could possibly need & every care was taken by owner, Stefanos, to ensure we had a great stay! We really couldn't fault this villa and found Crete to be our favourite place in the Med - the villa is in a great location if you enjoy a more relaxing holiday exploring some of the best walks and beaches in Europe. It's also handy should you want to take a bus to Chania for a night out.

All in all this was one of the best holidays we've been on and we couldn't recommend Villa Palma enough!

Owner's Response: It is very interesting to me to inform and be informed by guests. This is way there is a telephone land line in the house for free local phone calls and also useful if they wish to call me.It is one more possibility to anable me to respond to queries. Let me add that the bus service from and to Chania town runs till midnight and it costs 2.30 euro per person. The bus terminal is very close to the old town of Chania and to the Venetian harbor where day and night life is not to be missed. Owner's Response: Now I understand that it was a great idea to renovate this centuries old house of ours and even better idea to rent to holidaymakers because I enjoy offering hospitality. Stefanos
