About this property

The Eagle’s Nest Ski & Bike Paradise!

WE DO NOT PROVIDE SHEETS, DUVETS OR TOWELS. Pillows, pillow & mattress protectors are provided. Linens can be provided for an extra cost.

NOTE: If you are a five-star guest, search and contact us via "The Port Carling River House" for additional savings.

Much like the Eagle's must feel in their nest, our log home is perched on a hillside, offering views through the tree tops. Our one of a kind chalet is within 300 feet of Sir Sam's Ski and Ride (which offers a family friendly environment for downhill skiing, snow shoeing, and downhill mountain biking).

For the beautiful dogs days of summer, Sir Sam's offers some great downhill mountain biking, and hiking, as well as numerous backroad biking routes and hiking trails nearby. In the summer, a short walk will take you to the boat launch and public beach on Eagle Lake, and the quaint Eagle Lake Market (and LCBO outlet) which offers everything from snacks and baked goods to full take-home dinners.

Winter enthusiasts will love the proximity to some great OFSC Trails, as well as downhill and cross country skiing, dogsledding and snowshoeing. Sir Sam's also has an FIS level snow-cross course that is open to the public (except during special events), and can give you a first hand view of what our Olympic Athletes experience during a race!

The property itself boasts a lovely level lot at the back, with excellent land for exploring with the kids. There is an outdoor firepit for quiet evenings at home, as well as a very unique fireplace (not currently in use) that serves as the anchor point for gathering between the living room and kitchen.

The house is four bedrooms, two and a half baths, and sleeps up to 9 people. The oversized Master Bedroom looking through the trees has a three piece ensuite, a large closet and a King sized bed. The three other bedrooms on the third floor comfortably sleep seven more people (room one with a double bed, room two with a single over double bunk bed, and room three with a queen, there is a cot available for an eighth person). The main level two piece bathroom serves as extra "comfort" when the upstairs four piece bathroom is in use.

The property is fifteen kilometers from the Town of Haliburton, with it's beautiful waterfront, great small town shopping, and many Museums, Art Galleries, outdoor venues and scenic vistas. Check out the Skyline Park, or Head Lake Trail for a truly unique and amazing glimpse into this extraordinary area.

Further afield are some great spots such as the Haliburton Forest Wildlife Preserve that offer year round activities for all ages, and the Leslie Frost Center, as well as the Hawk Lake Log Chute.

We welcome you to experience this amazing area, and enjoy all of the adventure that Haliburton has to offer!

Please note: the property is situated on three levels, and as such is best suited to those with suitable mobility. There are a number of stairs that may not be ideal for toddlers, or the elderly.

Our Stay
We enjoyed our time. The proximity to Sir Sam's Skiing was excellent. There are a lot of stairs in the Chalet, all wood so our legs were tired at the end of it. The ice on the driveway posed a hazard and I had the best wipe out of the week, not on the ski hills but on the driveway. Otherwise, the accommodations proved to be everything we needed and were looking for. Overall I would highly recommend this property.

Amazing Thanksgiving Long Weekend at Eagle Nest cottage.
The property was beautiful as it was surrounded by an expansive forest. It is steps away from a beautiful lake. If you are looking for a scenic getaway this is cottage to be.

Haliburton Get away
Beautiful cottage all around. I liked being surrounded by a forest of trees. It made me feel like I was in a forest. Lots of rooms for large groups. The only thing that I didn't like was the stairs. There are lots of stairs. It made it difficult going up the stairs with our luggage and boxes of supplies. If you're twenty and can move extremely well, then all the power to you. However, if you in your 50's and older like us, it makes it hard going up and down those stairs. That is the only set back.
