Located in the heart of Flushing village, this two-bedroomed fisherman’s cottage with garden provides stylish accommodation with a relaxed atmosphere.

Poppy Cottage sits neatly in a row of pretty painted houses in a delightful street in the ever popular village of Flushing. Originally a fisherman’s cottage, this 18th century gem has been thoughtfully updated to create a bright, sunny holiday hideaway for up to four people.

Once through the welcoming entrance of this pretty cottage you are immediately struck by the atmosphere of calm which pervades here. The owners have chosen a muted palette of white and neutral shades to decorate the house, which has been stylishly furnished with comfortable seating and colourful touches. The inviting sitting room is a wonderfully bright space with white painted beamed ceiling, classic tiled floor and a large sofa and armchair arranged around a cosy open fire. Equipped with flat-screen TV, DVD player and complimentary Wi-Fi, should you wish to enjoy a relaxing movie evening following a busy day on the beach.

Poppy Cottage’s kitchen has been cleverly designed with modern wooden units and matching central island to provide a good degree of food preparation and storage space. Built-in appliances including a fridge/freezer, microwave, oven and hob ensure that holiday catering for the family is a breeze. A washer/dryer is housed outside in the shed, which also has room for airing laundry.

The kitchen leads through to the cottage’s most recent addition, its spacious conservatory. This light room combines a formal dining area with a relaxed seating corner complete with wall-mounted fire and flat-screen TV; a sociable space which opens up the downstairs of this traditional cottage.

French doors open out from the conservatory into Poppy Cottage’s lovely garden. Laid to patio, this secluded area boasts walled beds with pretty planting, a table and chairs and a BBQ.

Poppy Cottage can sleep up to four people in two bedrooms which are located on the first floor. The first, a master bedroom, benefits from a double bed and wardrobe and overlooks the garden. The second has two twin beds and charming street views. Also on the first floor is the property’s family bathroom, decorated in a nautical theme with tongue and groove panelling. Its white suite comprises a W.C. and bath with shower. Luxury towels and complimentary bath products are provided for guests, as is high quality bed linen.

Notes:
Poppy Cottage is fitted to the very highest standards, and unlike many Cornish holiday cottages it has comfortable beds and quality bedding, a modern hot water and heating system, and it is spotlessly clean. For those with young children there is a cot and a high chair at the cottage. Well behaved dogs are welcome.

Perfect getaway

A really cosy warm wonderful cottage, with all the facilities needed. Local Pubs and a good fish restaurant doing some delicious food at very reasonable prices. All within walking distance! Only a stone’s throw from the sea with some beautiful beaches. Some lovely walks to walk off all those cream teas! All in all just what the Doctor ordered. Will definitely be back!

Great cottage, great village, great service!

In the past we have always stayed on the North Coast and so decided to try something different this year, we were not disappointed. Flushing is a charming, friendly village with lots of pretty cottages and very unspoilt. We chose the location because we wanted a week to relax - being able to stroll down to one of the pubs in the evening or pop over to the Waterside restaurant meant we didn't cook all week - perfect!

The little ferry that runs to Falmouth was very romantic and a hassle free way to explore the town and our toddler loved the playground in the village

When the agent popped around to check we were settled in he even helped me connect my iPad to the WiFi - now that is service!!

The cottage was clean and comfortable with lots of thoughtful touches - we will return!

Flushing is known to be one of the warmest villages in the UK because it has an idyllic sheltered south-facing aspect. It has pretty quiet streets lined with pastel coloured terraced fisherman’s cottages, and surrounded by beautiful unspoilt surrounding countryside.

Many Cornish villages have become over crowded with tourists, but Flushing is much quieter, even during peak season, and it still benefits from a strong and vibrant community.

A passenger ferry runs a regular service between Flushing and Falmouth. It also connects with the ferries to St Mawes, Mylor, Trelissick and Truro. In summer the Fal River boats offer trips to the gardens of Trebah and Glendurgan, and onwards to Truro. A local water taxi service also runs around the bay.

Flushing has two friendly pubs, a stunning seafood restaurant located on the quayside, and a well-stocked friendly shop. It also has a Sailing Club that welcomes guests, and it’s own year round dog-friendly beach.
