About this property

Black Mtn-Jackson NH Private- Relax -Swim Hike Golf Fish Horseback Story Land

Escape the crowds go where the mountain air is pure, and has the faint scent of Balsam Christmas Trees. This modern and attractive log cabin sits high on Black Mountain (Ck out photo of location), Jackson NH. It’s surrounded by the privacy of the White Mountain Forest. It has the feel of being in the wilderness, but minutes to civilization. On a clear night step outside and shut off the lights, you can almost touch the stars, and hear a pin drop. The privacy and spectacular views truly add to this lovely log cabin. The interior is handsomely furnished, 2 bedrooms, and loft sleeps 6. A granite countered no kitchen which is fully equipped - garlic press to wine glasses. Wood stove fireplace in main common room area adjacent to dining and living room. The lower walkout level contains a finished recreation room with flat screen/DVD, there is a large film selection. The cell signal is strong , and internet can be accessed through hot spot. At the end of the private driveway( during the month of April “Mud Season” and all wheel drive, 4 wheel drive vehicle is recommended) is one the many trail heads for The White Mtn National Forest Hiking Trail System. Bald Land Trail, East Pasture Loop, Black Mtn Cabin Trail. A 5 minute ride to Jackson Village, offers some top notch restaurants and taverns all family friendly. Folks have chosen Jackson for their vacation destination since the 1800’s and for good reasons. Jackson has 2 public golf courses, swimming at Jackson Falls, excellent trout fishing -some streams are fly fishing only, horse back riding, & 30 min to Saco River for tubing, kayak, or canoe rentals. The town of North Conway is a 20 min ride- tax free shopping and plenty of taverns & restaurants . Cabin is 60 miles from the Maine Coast and 125 miles from Boston. A wonderful getaway to unplug and recharge
From the minute we booked, George was incredibly friendly and helpful, sending us directions, restaurant reccomendations, and helpful videos to help ensure our stay is as good as possible! He called me as soon as we arrived to welcome us and give us an opportunity in case we had any questions. This cabin was wonderfully secluded and I don't think I've EVER seen so many stars at night. The cabin was also so welcoming, and decorated like an outdoorsmens dream! I will say, as the description already says, you will need 4/all wheel drive for the driveway in the snow/mud season. Also be aware that many of Jackson's restaurants are closed in the beginning days of the week, but North Conway is a short drive to many restaurants and shopping! Overall it's a great place to unplug and reconnect with loved ones and the great outdoors!

nature and peaceful
This is the perfect small cabin in the woods! Up a dead end road where the forest trails (ski and hike) begin. For folks who like nature and a calming place. The owner was always available by text and most helpful. It is heated by woodstove 80%, has good cell phone reception, lots of dvds. Center of Jackson with good restaurants 6 min. away. We are planning to return.

The perfect quiet getaway.
The definition of serenity. A perfect full size cabin nestled in the woods on the side of a mountain that is as far away as you can be without having to go far away. Our family visited in February for a snow-cation and we weren’t disappointed at all. George, the owner, was very responsive and provided a wealth of recommendations for local amenities and activities. The cabin had all we needed. We even spent two days just in the cabin itself relaxing, reading by the fire, and playing board games. An escape from reality our family desperately needed. I am certain that we will make our way back to “ Thistle Rock!”

My husband, dog and I had 2 magical nights and days at this beautiful cabin. We enjoyed walking the surrounding trails, sitting by the warm wood stove and preparing meals in the kitchen.

I live on the coast of Massachusetts but spend as much time as possible in Jackson. In the future I hope to retire to the mountains.I love the outdoors and all this area has to offer. I first came to Jackson as a boy to visit my uncle who owned the original home that was here. I would dream all winter of trout, hiking, exploring, and wild raspberries. I was fortunate enough to purchase the property years later. The original house burned down but out of the ashes came a new beginning. You can stay at cabin and immerse yourselves in the forest and not see a soul or head out to the village and beyond to civilization.

Why they chose this property

If you like the sweet smell of balsams (Christmas Trees), the mountains/ outdoors, and privacy this is it. When I arrive in Jackson I have no need to leave town its all here. Sitting in the brook on a July afternoon is heaven. There is also an outdoor shower to die for and no need for a curtain. A good book in the afternoon with all the windows open, and a mountain breeze -u need nothing else.I designed this cabin to meet all of the needs that make this place special.

What makes this property unique

The mountains are the home also to many different species of wildlife. I believe I have seen most pass through my property-moose,deer,bobcat,coyote,bear,porcupine just to name a few. The variety of birds are too numerous to count. They fill the forest with beautiful music from dawn to dusk. Speaking of nightfall you can reach out and touch the stars. The rivers are stocked but native trout exist also. I am not a golfer but the 2 courses are challenging and open to the public.
