About the property

3 bedrooms with adjacent apartment with 1/2 bedrooms in beautiful setting

Villa La Pergola, Mojacar. Sleeps 8-10/12

La Pergola is a luxury three bedroom Villa with pool, situated in a secluded and tranquil setting which sleeps 6; with a self contained apartment downstairs sleeping an additional 4-6 people which can be accessed from either within the house itself or through it’s own private entrance.

La Pergola is exquisitely furnished, set in 4,000 sq metres of private land with sea views and situated between Mojacar Pueblo, (the hilltop old town) and Mojacar Playa (the beach). With its many terraces and beautiful gardens it offers privacy and solitude but remains within walking distance (10 minutes) or driving (2 minutes) of busy Mojacar Playa with it’s abundance of beach bars, restaurants and shops. The nearest neighbours are 300 metres away at Villa La Casita and again this Villa, which sleeps 6-8 is owned by us.

Villa La Pergola has been beautifully restored and modernised but retains it’s original Moorish charm including oak beams, hand made Andalucian tiles throughout, parquet flooring in the 11mx 6m lounge diner, floor to ceiling original stone fireplace and hand crafted wardrobes and feature windows.

On the ground floor there are two double bedrooms ; each with en suite bathrooms, air conditioning and balconies with sea views. The third bedroom is an air conditioned en suite twin room overlooking the garden and terrace to the front. There is a fully equipped modern granite tiled kitchen including 6 burner gas hob, Bosch fan assisted ovens and dishwasher.

There is a separate luxury toilet.

Downstairs in the self contained apartment there is a further double bedroom with air conditioning, a lounge diner with 2 large leather couches which convert to double beds, a separate fully equipped modern kitchen with dishwasher, utility room with washing machine and a family bathroom. The apartment also has a separate entrance with it’s own garden area and terrace.

The Villa is very comfortable and spacious and decorated to the highest standards with Villeroy & Boch and Santini sanitary wear throughout, and furnishings by Ligne & Roset, Lombok, and Aznar.

Outside the lounge there is a 10m x 6m swimming pool, terrace and seating areas (created and designed by Brighton Architect Russ Drage) complete with waterfall, huge archways and sea views and illuminated at night. The contemporary outdoor furniture and lighting are by Skyline. In the barbecue area on the dining terrace there is both the original stone Barbecue with canopy and a modern gas barbecue as well as outdoor sink and fridge. There is further Skyline furniture and seating for 10. The kitchen garden and terrace has a dining and seating area for 6.

There is an additional outside utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer.

There is a very large private car park with electric gates.

We love Mojacar and have had many great family holidays in La Pergola over the years.

The location is quiet and tranquil yet 2 mins drive and 10 minutes walk from the seafront (Mojacar Playa). The seafront is about 7 km long and there are beach bars, cafés and restaurants, yet it still remains unspoiled. The resort itself is very much family orientated and is very busy with Spanish in the peak season.

There are three lanes leading to various parts of Mojacar,so very convenient for going out for the evening and leaving the car at the end of one of the lanes.

The old town (Mojacar Pueblo) is perched high on the hill looking down on 7kms of beaches. Mojacar is sandwiched between the mountains of the Sierra Cabrera and the Mediterranean sea. The old town is captivating with its whitewashed ancient buildings, labyrinth of winding cobbled streets, alleys and courtyards and there are magnificent views to the mountains, sea and the Taberna desert.

Mojacar remains true to its Moorish legacy with its old Moorish fortress (or Santa Maria church as it is now) and the architecture of the area still evokes an Arabic aura. Under a law passed in 1987, the Arab architecture here will be preserved for posterity. There are small cafés bars, restaurants and shops in the Pueblo.

For golfers we have 5 golf courses within a 20 min drive.

Marina golf. 5 mins drive

Macenas. 15 mins drive

Valle de este 20 mins drive

Desert Springs 20 mins drive

Cortijo Grande 20 mins drive

About Terry Playford

We bought our original villa (La Casita) in Mojacar and have had many wonderful holidays here. The opportunity to buy the larger La Pergola came up and we decided to buy as we loved the area so much and the larger house would accommodate our growing family more easily. We have worked on the property for two years sparing no expense and it is very much our Home. We are sure you will love and appreciate it here as much as we do!

Wonderful relaxing holiday at la pergola

  • 5 of 5

Spent two weeks this summer in this lovely villa. Everything you could possibly want for a really relaxing holiday and all ten of our party, with ages ranging from 12 to 72 thoroughly enjoyed it. Lovely pool and terrace, plenty of room for us all to eat outside and beautiful bedrooms. Loved the table tennis, pool and boules court and had many hours playing chess next to the pool. Great location, really peaceful, the beach being only ten minutes walk away for a dip in the sea or a drink at one of the many playa bars. Would definitely recommend for a thoroughly relaxing family holiday.

Wonderfull stay at La Pergola in August 2015

  • 5 of 5

We stay two wonderfull weeks from the 1st to the 15th of august at La Pergola. It is really a great location and amazing villa with à beautiful Swimming pool, tennis table, pool table and even fitness equipement ! The house is perfectly full equiped inside and even outside, 2 Barbecues and 2 terrasses to have meals. It is very comfortable and clean to perfection with en-suite in every bedroom !

The villa is very good located between the village and the Beaches and we had really appreciated the quietness of the place.

We had perfect holidays with our friends and Familly. Perfect for 12 max including 4 kids.

Landlord Fran and Terry are very kind, helpful and welcoming and provide us a perfect costumer service.

Also, It was great to have someone around coming to tidy the bedrooms and give a good clean on weekly basis and always available to call in case anything happens (special thanks to Steward).

We would strongly recommend the villa and will definitely go again !!!

Stunning Holiday Villa

  • 5 of 5

We normally spend a family holiday at La Manga Club and were pleasantly surprised to find such a well appointed villa just an hour further south. The property was beautifully and tastefully presented and the pool and leisure areas very impressive.

We received an excellent welcome pack which we had not expected and even had a call from the owner during our stay to make sure that we had everything we had been promised.

The information pack in the Villa was very comprehensive and together with the local agent we quickly became acquainted with the locale.

I must say that Mojacar playa is very attractive with a large variety of restaurants and bars and spotless beaches.

My wife and daughter enjoyed the shopping in Mojacar Pueblo and for the men there was a good variety of golf courses within easy access.

We also found that local pricing was considerably less than experienced in La Manga Club. I would certainly return to La Pergola and would have no hesitation in recommending it to others.

Absolute Luxury at La Pergola

  • 5 of 5

Owners who give every guest a warm welcome, a fantastic holiday start- up pack, luxurious furnishings, an exceptionally clean villa with just about every kitchen utensil and gadget you might ever need, masses of information about Mojacar and the surrounding area, a four poster king size bed and Wi-Fi too, (and that’s just the interior!)- what’s not to like? La Pergola is a very special villa with pool – we swam every day; beautiful grounds – we met Jan the gardener who even helped us to identify some local wild flowers; we saw a variety of colourful birds in the garden, too numerous to mention but..... what can we say about those beautiful bee-eaters?? There was plenty of outdoor entertainment too - boules on the lower terrace, snooker/pool on one of the verandas and table tennis on another.

The house is in a good location – Mojacar new town is an easy walk, all on the flat. We walked everywhere – to the beach every morning and enjoyed coffee at Café Koi or the little sea view terrace of La Dolce Vita. Why make coffee when you can have delightful café con leche, orange juice, cakes and doughnuts all for 2 euros? We also did some hill walking, directly behind the house and sometimes further afield. Mojacar old town, La Pueblo with its Moorish influences, and lots of little antique shops, gift shops, bars and restaurants is just a short drive away.

We had a fantastic fortnight in this delightful luxurious villa. We had never visited Mojacar in the Spring before but we would now highly recommend it – the flower displays and colours are just amazing. At first we thought a villa for 8 – 12 persons was a bit pricey for just the two of us but as new retirees (after many years working in local government) we felt we really deserved some luxury and this villa certainly delivered. It was worth every single penny and I look forward to returning next year…..if you’ll have us.

Amazing villa and holiday

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful holiday in this gorgeous villa. Everything you could want is there and to lay around the pool with stunning views out to sea was amazing. The local town is split into two with a beach area with a wide variety of shops and restaurants and then there is the original old town up the hill with a different selection of shops and restaurants so spoilt for choice.

Stunning property with a traditional Spanish feel

  • 5 of 5

This villa was utter luxury.

We were greeted with a substantial welcome pack which made our long travelling day worthwhile!

3 families stayed in this property including 6 children for 11 nights.

The children enjoyed playing in the pool and especially loved the light show in the pool area on an evening. The outdoor eating area was nicely lit with ample BBQ facilities.

Car is essential for dining out or sightseeing.

We truly enjoyed our stay and would recommend the villa to families/ friends.

Mojacar is in Almería, a province of southern Spain. It is bordered by the provinces of Granada, Murcia, and the Mediterranean Sea. Europe's only desert is found in Almería, and is part of the National Park of Sierra Nevada (in the Sierra Nevada mountain range), which it shares with Granada province.

Almeria shares the title of the town with the most hours of sun a year along with Athens and Siracusa -- more than 300 days a year! The temperature of its seawater is warmer in winter than its air temperature making swimming an all year round enjoyable activity. The over all-annual average temperature exceeds 18c.

The desert landscape and climate that characterizes part of the province have made it an ideal setting for Western films, especially during the 1960s. Because of the demand for these locations, quite a number of Western towns were built near the Desert of Tabernas. Films such as The Good, the Bad and the Ugly and A Fistful of Dollars were shot here. Large sections of Lawrence of Arabia and Patton were shot there as well.

Mojacar Playa with its sandy beaches, stretches for miles beneath the ancient village of Mojacar extending as far as the eye can see in both directions. New developments include restaurants, bars, shops, villas and apartments all tastefully built in keeping with the traditions of the area. Surrounded by the sea on one side and the magnificent mountains of the Sierra Cabrera to the rear Mojacar paints an enchanting picture captured many times by local and visiting artists alike.

The medium yearly temperature in Mojacar is around 20 °C. Winter is practically non-existent, it passes as a long autumn or spring. Mojacar Village (the Peublo) is built in a Moorish style and has many narrow lanes and cobbled streets etc adding to its enchantment.

Mojacar Playa is becoming an increasingly popular and sophisticated resort.

There is a local water park 20 mins drive or a dedicated bus will take you there :

Keen golfer?

The area around Mojacar in the Northern part of Almeria offers 5 courses: The Desert Springs Golf Course, The Valle del Este Golf Resort, Marina Golf Macenas Golf and Cortijo Grande. Please email me for further details...

Mojacar is aptly named and famous throughout Spain as El Rincon del Embrujo, 'The Corner of Enchantment'.

Mojacar Beach enforces building restrictions, which has ensured the charm of the area and a steady growth of international investors giving Mojacar a cosmopolitan atmosphere. The beach is 17 kilometres long in total, a large part of which is a designated area of natural beauty. Only 7 kilometres is developed and is so unspoiled that within this stretch there are no less than 3 Blue European Flag Awards on the beaches for cleanliness. Mojacar is a unique blend of mountains and valley areas sheltering the beach and the sea. Every modern convenience is to be found here as well as a sports facility, sailing, fishing and golf, just to mention a few.

There are many fiestas to delight visitors.

Open street markets provide the weekly highspot of every town and village in Almeria, and attract colourful merchants selling clothes, leather goods, ceramics, household goods etc, a pastiche of colour and noise. There is a weekly market in Mojacar Pueblo and a Sunday 'flea market'.

Nearby

Garrucha, - A thriving fishing port and Marina of where just before sunset each day the boats return to harbour to unload and auction off their catches at the quayside, why not experience this colourful spectacle, and the follow it up with a meal in one of the numerous fish restaurants in the village.

Aguilas - with its 16th century castle overlooking the bay and weekly market.
