About the property

3 Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms, Sleeps 6

An oasis of tranquillity and soft light with white walls and wooden floors. Furnished for maximum comfort and convenience, this house is perfect for short or long-term stays. The fully double-glazed windows and wall-mounted heating panels ensure cosy warmth in winter. In the summer, throw the windows open and a lovely breeze keeps it cool. There is so much space here that you can always find a quiet spot, perhaps upstairs on the 45 m2 roof terrace, reading a book and sipping a cool drink. If that's too hot for you, go out into the back yard between the house and hillside. It's always cool and calm there. The kitchen is designed to flow with ample preparation surface. It has everything you need, including an eye-level fan oven. 2012 new fridge/freezer! Your guests can sit around the 2012 new 8-seat dining table with a glass of wine while you prepare your piece de resistance! Beautiful new red sofas arrived May 2014 (through the balcony door on ropes!)

The laundry room is downstairs so no machine noise to spoil the magic. A 2016 7kg Bosch washing machine and a 2016 7 kg Bosch tumble dryer plus iron and board take the hardship out of laundry.

Then there's the garage too! Automatic up and over door with remote control, oodles of space and a back door out to the oasis of calm that is the back patio.

Getting around Vejer and beyond: In the summer, don't even try to park near the Old Town. It's hopeless but no need - you can walk there from the house. However, you don't need to haul shopping back as you can drive to Supersol in the town or to Aldi and Lidl outside Barbate and then drive straight into your garage.

The house is well situated for access to the beaches of the Costa de la Luz. Just 15 minutes by car to the surfers' paradise of El Palmar. Out of the summer season, parking eases up everywhere but it's still so nice to have your own integral garage - get into a cool car and not a boiling furnace or avoid getting dumped on by a winter downpour.

Short and Long-term breaks: Just because the house has so many bedrooms doesn't mean it isn't perfect for a couple who want to enjoy a break in Vejer. After all, I lived there on my own with my 2 dogs for 3 years! No problem if you want to bring your dogs too. The townhouse is the ideal place to get away from it all for a few months. The perfect retreat for artists, writers and anyone who needs time to think. Just contact me to discuss prices.

Eating, drinking and music in Vejer: The Spanish love to eat and drink so there are plenty of cafes, tapas bars and restaurants in Vejer. Prices here are a little more reasonable than on the coast and quality is excellent. Some of the bars also have live music - there are usually posters to tell you where and when. There is quite a large ex-pat community in Vejer from many countries so it is a very cosmopolitan town. Besides the many Spanish restaurants, you will find authentic Italian and Moroccan food in Vejer. The most famous of these is El Califa on the Plaza de Espana - Moroccan food in an amazing setting. When you book the Town House, we'll give you plenty more ideas of where to eat and drink.

About Barbara Mincik

I moved to the Costa de la Luz in winter 2002. I was single, worked all summer in the tourist industry in Europe and thought Spain would be a good place to hide out in winter. I wasn't wrong and spent 7 winters there. Even paradise palls when you experience it on your own. Luckily for me, I met my husband on Christmas Eve 2008 and moved back to the UK in 2009. The picture is me on our Honeymoon in Venice in 2011!

Barbara Mincik purchased this house in 2005

Why Barbara Mincik chose Costa de la Luz - Cadiz

After 3 winters on the coast, I fancied a rather more cosmopolitan life and so bought the townhouse in Vejer. Loved the view, appreciated the garage, hated the lay out. 3 years later, and several walls down, it became the lovely, comfortable haven of peace it now is. The views of the valley of La Janda are lovely and there is always a pleasant breeze in summer. Thanks to the double glazing and wood floors, it is also cosy in winter.

What makes this house unique

A short walk to the Old Town, an even shorter walk to the butcher, the baker, the fruit and veg store, the Post Office and to several pleasant bars, cafes and restaurants. You can park in front of and near by the house and actually in the garage. The house has oodles of living space, a great kitchen, comfortable beds and lovely outside space. From it, you can be on the highway to Jerez, Seville, Malaga or Gibraltar Airports within minutes.

Absolutamente recomendable.

Vejer is one of Andalucia's famous white villages. Straddling 2 hills above the beautiful beaches of El Palmar, Trafalgar and Caños de Meca, Vejer has an extensive old town plus the surrounding newer areas with better plumbing! It has a Cathedral, a castle and sections of the old town walls. Nowadays, it is home to artists and artisans, locals and ex-pats and welcomes visitors throughout the year. Exploring its narrow streets, buying artisan goods, olive oil, leather, silver jewelry, watching the world from an outside table in one of the many restaurants and bars, listening to live music in the evening or watching the stars as you dine outside, these are just some of the reasons to come to Vejer. The air is clean 800 metres above the bustle of the A48, the food and wine excellent and cheaper than on the coast. Whilst there are many places to go to from Vejer, the main reason for coming to Vejer is the charm of the town itself.

Our lovely town house is on 4 delightful floors. Naturally, this requires using 3 delightful flights of stairs to reach the top! If this bothers you, perhaps you should think again about Vejer, as this is a hilltop village. This means that roads generally either go up or down and many paths are also stairways. In the cooler months, we provide duvets, rugs and heaters. We also have property in flat and beautiful Zahara de los Atunes - just ask us!

30% of total is due at time of reservation. Balance is due one month before arrival. Euro 500 Damage Deposit is due in cash on arrival in exchange for the keys. Returned less any damage 7 days after departure.
Payment is accepted in € to our Spanish account, in UK£ to our UK account

Notes:

  • This house is comfortable and spacious. It is cool in summer and warm in winter thanks to its double glazed windows and laminate wood flooring on the living and sleeping levels. The kitchen has a great flow, the lounge is very light and airy, the roof terrace is secluded (apart from the goats on the hillside). The whole house is a home from home.
