The apartment sleeps 4 people in two double bedrooms. It has a fully equipped open kitchen and dining room, dual aspect living room with partial views of the sea and Hallgrimskirkja and a beautiful bathroom in Art Deco style. Full oak floors / black slate flooring throughout. Decorated and refurbished with only the very best. Everything you can dream of is there: flatscreen, home cinema, ipod connection, Wifi, washing machine/dryer, dish washer, iron, fully equipped kitchen - we really thought of it all!

Reykjavik is the capital of Iceland. A small cosmopolitan city which has most of the things a traveler would need and want. Trendy shopping, fashionable cafe's, great restaurants as well as theaters muesums and music houses.

The apartment has a perfect location. It's all just around the corner!

1 - 5 Minutes Walk from the apartment

"Shop till you drop" in Laugurvegur, the main shopping street with its many exclusive Icelandic design stores, restaurants, cafes, 24 hour supermarket... Plus one of Iceland's ubiquitous Bonus supermarkets, and Sandholt, arguably the best bakery in Reyjavik. Afterwards, go and be amazed at The Penis Museum (yes, really!). Then cool off again at Sundhollin, the oldest swimming pool in Reykjavik with its original 1930's features and hot tubs on the balcony.

5 - 10 Minutes Walk from the apartment

Visit Hallgrimskirkja, Iceland's very own Empire State Building, a beautiful church that's illuminated with colours at night... Just walk down the street and stand at the coastline of Iceland and enjoy... And also check out Solfar, Jon Gunnar Arnason's beautiful sculpture of a viking ship, situated at the water. Visit the antiques and fleamarket at Kolaportid.

10 - 15 Minutes Walk from the apartment

Feed the ducks at Tjornin, the big City Pond. Afterwards, pop into the City Hall and have a look at the enormous 3D Reykjavik map. Have a drink on Austurvollur, the main public square surrounded by the Parliament and Domkirkjan, the oldest church in town. Don't forget to visit Harpa, Reykjavik's new and hypermodern Concert Hall. Finish off the day by taking each other out at Perlan (the Pearl Restaurant overlooking Reykjavik) for a real treat of the senses with the best view in Reykjavik city.

Lovely Stay!

We stayed for a week in this apartment and had the most wonderful time! The location is absolutely superb - close to Reykjavik's downtown core and all that it has to offer! We realized location is everything when you are visiting Iceland in the winter - the closer you are, the less cold exposure, the better ;). But in all seriousness the apartment is very spacious, modern, bright, clean, and comfortable. Loved sitting on the chaise, sipping on wine, reading my book, and watching the happenings on the streets below. At times you could hear the rowdy night comers at 4 in the morning, but it is nothing that you wouldn't expect being in the city. We met the neighbor below and they are quite nice, and not once did they complain about my music level :). The owner was great at communicating and provided a very detailed outline about the apartment and of all the best places to visit. We certainly enjoyed the local bakery and having fresh bread every morning! Overall, we would definitely stay again - thank you for sharing your beautiful apartment!

Brilliant

Spent Christmas in Reykjavik, staying in this apartment. Ideally located for a car free city break, it easily accommodated two adults and two teenagers.

Spacious, but cosy, despite the snow and wind outside, it is well appointed and had everything we needed for our stay.

Great communication from the owners, made the whole booking really straightforward.

We would definitely consider booking again the next time we visit Reykjavik as it is a superb location, five minute walk to the main shopping street Laugarvegur, , the Sundhollin pool is on the next block and in the shadow of Hallgrimskirkja. It's also only a short walk from the BSI Bus Terminal so ideal for the Flybus connection to Keflavik airport.

Great location for exploring downtown Reykjavik.

The owners were great to deal with and the location was perfect. The apartment was clean, well appointed, and reasonably priced. Would definitely stay here again if we get the chance to return to Iceland.

Homely, comfortable, convenient and good price

Two adults and two young teenagers spent a week in this apartment and would readily recommend it.

It's very tastefully decorated, well equipped, conveniently located and instantly homely.

We were sorry to leave and would definitely look to book again on another Reykjavik visit.

The building itself is - like many others - simple from the outside but inside is a well thought out, clean and comfortable home which has obviously had much time, effort and expense invested.

Owners Sue and Dieter were always instantly on hand via email to offer advice and solve any minor queries. There is a lot of information to help guide you both around the apartment's equipment and attractions in the city and further afield.

We found a car essential as we were driving out most days (free parking outside) but for those on a short break and staying local, you can walk everywhere (after a bus from the airport).

Check out the old swimming pool a minute's walk up the road!

We are now big fans of Iceland thanks, in part, to this apartment.

Perfect apartment in a perfect location

The location of the apartment is ideal as it is in the centre of town within walking distance to the shops, restaurants, bars, indoor swimming pool, concert hall, and BSI bus terminal.

The apartment is very clean, spacious and cozy even though the building on the outside is not new /modern. We got to meet the neighbours in the building who were ready for a chat and made us feel welcome.

A good collection of books, dvds and board games in the apartment kept my family engaged whenever we were indoors.

Tried the Nepalese restaurant and the cuisine was excellent, but would not recommend the Thai place above Bonus supermarket. The crepe shop on Skolavordustigur is amazing. We also walked to Perlan and the geothermal beach from the apartment by which could see the other part of the city. We had the great opportunity to watch the Euro cup qualifier match between the Netherlands and Iceland on big screen in the town's square with the Icelanders.

All the suggestions given by the landlady were very useful.

There was a small issue with the shower which was attended to by the manager within minutes.

Our stay in this apartment made our family holiday a memorable one and would recommend this apartment to anyone.

home away from home

what a wonderful place to live like an icelander for a while. we felt like this was much more than a vacation. the apartment is close to everything, yet you feel like a local living in a neighborhood. we had the opportunity to meet the neighbors living below us and they made us feel completely welcome and at home. the apartment is every bit as beautiful as the photographs and everything we could possibly need was provided. one of the very best parts was the list of recommendations from the owner. every restaurant and tip she suggested was spot on. every question we had was answered quickly and thoroughly.

we highly recommend walking to cafe solon for the seafood soup with coconut milk and saffron for dinner. often. stop by hotel alda on your way for nicely priced drinks by the fire at happy hour. noodle station is right around the corner and perfect for a super affordable and delicious dinner to take back to the apartment. the selection of books and movies keep you completely entertained when you don't feel like going out.

don't be put off by your first impression from the street. the front door and dark hallway lead you to a cozy home away from home at the top of the stairs. with a view of the sea! the big windows make for fun people watching and the location could not possibly be better.
