Lovely place to stay.

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Heron Cottage in August 2017 as a family of 4. The properties are in beautiful, well kept gardens. We were met by Jane on arrival and she showed us around the cottage and told us bits of information that we would need. She kindly told us that there was some body boards and windbreaks in the laundry room if we wanted to make use of them with the children (we did!). All of the rooms are well decorated, clean, tidy and very comfortable. The cottage is well equipped with everything you should need for your stay. We didn't use the log burner as the temperature was quite nice while we were there. My only complaint is that we paid £850 for a week in the cottage and electricity was added on extra at the end. This was just £10 but seeing as there is a wind turbine and solar panels at the property it should really include electricity in the total price.

Very good stay

  • 4 of 5

A very well maintained property with great facilities and ideal size for an extended trip away. Location is handy for Padstow and surrounding areas. It was nice of the owners to provide a BBQ for our use on request too.

The private rear garden would be too small for families and so a different cottage on the same site would be recommended. We were told "help yourselves to logs" so were surprised to receive a bill for them on departure and the wifi did not work once during our stay.

Also as we stayed for 2 weeks (13 nights) it would have been a nice gesture to have offered to do a mid-stay clean for us.

But overall a very nice stay and very welcoming hosts.

Owner's Response: We are always grateful to receive our visitors' comments and we confirm that we are rated as 4 Star self-catering accommodation with Gold Awards on all cottages. All our cottages are checked through as thoroughly as possible on changeover days to ensure that standards are maintained - cleanliness is of the utmost importance. Self catering is not serviced accommodation and, once the holiday commences, it is the hirer's responsibility to keep it clean and on departure to leave it clean and tidy with all items left as found. All guests, when booking, are provided with our terms and conditions which make it clear that in Heron and Well Cottages we provide logs for the guests' use and, if used, are paid for on departure. We are pleased to have installed new wifi internet access points in our cottages and signal strengths of the maximum five bars are available.

Fantastic Holiday Cottage - Highly Recommended

  • 5 of 5

I stayed in the Heron Cottage with my twin daughters for a two week family holiday and was not in any way disappointed with my choice. We were welcomed upon arrival by the owners Jane and Richard (very nice people) before Richard showed us around the property. Richard and Jane live on site and although very unobtrusive, were always on hand. The cottage itself was fantastic. Well designed, very comfortable, maintained to a very high standard and contained everything you could need. It is set in a beautiful, quiet location whilst being ideal to explore Cornwall. Cornwall is a beautiful county and well worth a visit and I would highly recommend staying at one of the properties at Hawksland Mill. Thank you Jane and Richard and we look forward to a return visit.
