As a family we are based only a couple of miles away from Waterside House. We love East Lothian and all it has to offer. The rolling countryside, fantastic beaches and wonderful walks. If you are a golfer then you must truly be in heaven.

We stayed at Waterside House for a week in January. Outside it was cold, snowy and stormy while we were there but inside was warm and cosy. Central heating kept us warm throughout the stormy nights and plenty of hot water available from the power showers to heat us up after a day outdoors.

Waterside house is freshly decorated and has quirky decorative pieces e.g antler chair in dining area to make you feel that you are in an upmarket rental.

There is ample space in the house for family to stay but not be on top of each other and the kitchen dining area provides the ideal space for cooking and entertaining, with the main living room upstairs for you to retire to after a long day.

The Waterside Bistro is just next for the nights we couldn't be bothered cooking and local amenities meant that we didn't have far to go for food shopping, walk along the river and look in the local shops.

Would recommend Waterside House to families or groups who want a country retreat within the town.

Comfortable, well appointed and conveniently located for golf in East

Lothian. Accommodated 7 golfers with ease, plenty of room, great showers and good kitchen. Good communication with very helpful owner. We're looking forward to returning next year.

Wunderbar !

Wir waren mit 7 Personen in dem Haus in Haddington, südlich von Edinburgh und es war ein Traum !

Wunderschön gelegen an einem kleinen Fluss mit Blick auf die alte Kirche und eine ebenso alte, pitoreske Brücke. Allerdings liegt es nicht am Meer (in der Beschreibung ist ein Fehler), sondern etwa 15 km davon entfernt.

Das Haus war super sauber, absolut gemütlich. 4 Schlafzimmer, 3 Bäder, große Küche mit Essbereich und TV und 1 gemütliches kleines Wohnzimmer, das wir aber gar nicht benutzten. Die Küche ist voll ausgestattet.

Direkt nebenan gibts ein Restaurant (welches man auf dem Bild der Hausfront sehen kann) mit kleiner Bar.

Bis nach Edinburgh sind es mit dem Auto ca 30min. Es gibt zwar Busse aber es ist recht umständlich und dauert ziemlich lange. Also Auto ist ein Muss!

In Edinburgh so weit wie möglich Richtung Burg fahren, da gibts mehrere Parkhäuser, das ist am bequemsten (kostet etwa 9Pfund/Tag). Das ist zwar teuer, aber wir waren 7 Personen, da hätten wir mit dem Bus reichlich mehr gezahlt!

Das Haus in Haddington ist als Ausgangspunkt für Ausflüge in die Region East Lothian ideal. Der Vermieter sendet vor Anreise den Schlüssel-Code per Email, am Hauseingang hängt ein kleines Schlüsselhäuschen, dort kann man den Code eingeben.

Das Haus ist zwar leicht zu finden (auch Dank des Restaurants) aber der Eingang befindet sich im hinteren Teil. Wenn man unter der alten Brücke durchfährt, an der Front vorbei fährt, 1. links, dann wieder 1. links und nochmal links, dann kommt man zum Hintereingang im Hof des Restaurants, dort befindet sich auch der Eingang zur Wohnung.

Alles in Allem eine TOP-Location, absolut empfehlenswert, wir haben uns sehr sehr wohl gefühlt !


The house is really lovely and cosy and beautifully situated with a nice view on the old bridge and the church. It's well equipped and very clean. Even if it's aprox. 30min by car away from Edinburgh, it's ideal for trips in the region of East Lothian.

We were there with 7 persons and felt absolutely delighted, we loved it !!! 1000% recommanded !!

We love a nice property on holiday and think that Waterside House has it all. Attention to detail and lovingly decorated, this property is fantastic for golfers or families. As a family we know how to keep the kids happy so have lots of toys and DVDs to keep them entertained. There are numerous golf courses and beaches nearby and the town of Haddington is well equipped. There is even an award winning bistro right next door if you can't be bothered to cook or just fancy a night out!

Haddington is the capital town of East Lothian. A small market town with easy access to all the delights of East Lothian.

Good places to eat including the award winning Waterside Bistro right next door! The annual Lammermuir Music Festival and Lennoxlove book festival are becoming well recognised events.

Approx 20-30 mins from the centre of Edinburgh means that the facilities and events of this internationally popular city are readily accessible. There is simply nothing else like the Edinburgh Festival in August and Edinburgh's Hogmanay celebrations are unbeatable.

East Lothian is quite simply the home of golf. Musselburgh Links is officially recognised by the Guinness book of records as the world's oldest golf course. Within 10 miles of Waterside House you can play Muirfield, Gullane, Archerfield, Renaissance, North Berwick, Aberlady, Longniddry, Haddington, Musselburgh......

The beaches are equally infamous. Gullane, Yellowcraigs, Aberlday, Tyninghame, Seacliff are some of the more notable.

Other highlights include Concorde at the Museum of Flight, the North Berwick Seabird Centre, the Bass Rock and several old castles. Other activities include horse riding, wake boarding, tennis and a great children’s farm/ play centre located near Dunbar.

The riverside location is so peaceful. Amazing walks just on your doorstep and every year we love watching the resident swans and their signets from the windows. A link with the bistro next door means that you can either pop in for a visit or the chef can have some food waiting for you after that hard round of golf/ long walk on the beach. It even has an off licence if you have found yourself short!
