3+1 bedroom S/C apartment - walking distance from 6 major Tignes lifts. Sleeps 8

Last week of April available for just £750 - less than £100 per person! Snow is still up to our first floor balcony!

Our fantastic south facing apartment in the Ecrin des Neiges accomodation offers 3 bedroom luxury accommodation facing the slopes for up to 8 people. Now booking for 2017-18 ski season so if you want to actually ski rather than watch the grass grow next season head to Tignes! Our apartment is at 2100m - higher than the altitude of most resort top ski lift!

Located in Val Claret, L'Ecrin des Neiges is one of the most popular apartment complexes in Tignes due to its location at the slope level. It is superbly positioned within 3 minutes walk or 1 minute free bus ride (bus-stop outside the complex) from 6 major ski lifts in Val Claret with quick access to Tignes 2100/Le Lac. The apartment is on the first floor with a large balcony facing south toward the Tichot slopes with 6 chairs and a table. There is an excellent restaurant (Chalet Bouvier) in the complex.

The spacious (68 m²) apartment has three double bedrooms (one with en suite shower room) and a well-equipped open-plan kitchen/dining/living area with an extremely comfortable double sofa-bed. There is a further bathroom (with bath) and a separate toilet. All linen, towels and bath robes are included.

The living area has a large double sofa and we provide 3 relaxing chairs plus stools and coffee table.

There is both WiFi (free of charge) and a direct phone line in the apartment. There is a LCD TV with International TV but the view from the balcony over the slopes at sunset is a better watch! There is a large cupboard for all the ski clothes.

There is a heated boot-room with lockable personal locker for all the ski-gear including pegs for 8 pairs of boots. There are laundry facilities by the boot-room.

A space in the underground car-park can be booked at reception or we can arrange this for you at a cost of around €80 for the week and there is a lift up from the car park to within metres of the apartment. Or there is an outdoor car park nearby (about €75 for 7 nights).

The reception is staffed during the winter and summer seasons and they can arrange bread and croissants in the morning. They are very helpful and can supply extra linen, washing supplies and even a fondue set, as a guest discovered (see reviews).

The apartment is within a few minutes walk from lots of shops and restaurants.

We accept credit card bookings direct on this website. We also accept PayPal and payment by bank transfer in sterling and euros.

The warmer temperatures throughout the French Alps in 2013-14 led to many resorts closing runs, but Tignes was hardly affected and 2014-15 was excellent from November to May. The 2016 season had over a metre of base right through to the middle of April and in 2017 was one of the few resorts to have any snow before February. Due to it's altitude (2100m in the Cal Claret) Tignes really is a snow-sure location.

Of course the glacier is open for skiing all year round. Our apartment is available throughout October and November for longer bookings (minimum 3 weeks) if you need a base for ski training. For more details about what is included please get in touch.

Summer weeks are available throughout July and August for just £550 with a huge range of special events - mostly free - being held in Tignes. It is a great base for exploring the mountains.

It's also a great location for a summer vacation with all the events hosted by Tignes. Bikes can be kept safely on the large balcony overnight and the list of sports is extensive, including some unique to Tignes. In the summer we offer our clients free "My Tignes Open" (formerly SportTignes) passes which gives free access to many of the sporting activities throughout Tignes including use of the lagoon pool in Tignes Le Lac.

About Scott and Gill Thomas

We are a family living in the UK. We have visited Tignes every year since 2000 (when we bought the apartment) and our children learnt to ski here. We know the area very well and can help with ski hire, ski school bookings, restaurant recommendations and much more.

Why Scott and Gill Thomas chose Val Claret

We bought in Tignes because of its fantastic snow record and in recent years have really benefited from this. In 2016-17 we skied from the first week of December right through to April in good conditions when others were trying to ski in the rain or on grass!

We chose this apartment because of its excellent location in the resort being close to both the slopes and the shops and restaurants. At 2110m Val Claret is the highest and best served of the villages.

What makes this apartment unique

Tignes has a huge ski area and and is one of the few resorts to have enjoyed a good snow covering throughout the last 3 seasons. Our apartment is at 2110m - higher than most resorts top run. In Summer the skiing on the glacier is amazing, the highest golf course in Europe is quite a challenge, the mountain biking is excellent and the entertainment round the lake is brilliant!

The large first floor balcony faces south so you get the sunshine for much of the day and it is large enough to house your bikes safely.

The apartment has its own underground car park (extra cost) with a lift to within 5m of the apartment door so it is easy to get your luggage in and also offers step free wheelchair access. A locked dedicated ski locker with boot pegs dries your skis, snowboards and boots out overnight without carrying them up to the apartment.

Great location - well equipped - good reception

Very convenient for both the ski lifts in Val Claret and Le Lac and the shops at the top and bottom of Val Claret. Well equipped and very clean, the apartment is great for 6-8 people. Having a proper reception with helpful staff to go to for anything you need is a real bonus.

Great apartment & great skiing

We had a great week here over Christmas and the apartment was a great base for skiing especially with the bus stop for the local free shuttle bus right outside the door - a huge godsend not having to trek for ages in ski boots. It's well located close to the town centre via a lift to the back of the property to give quick access to supermarket, ski hire & lovely restaurants (Brasserie du Petit Savoyard was our favourite for Raclette/Fondue & great Pizza)

The apartment is very well set up, well maintained & very clean, the kitchen has everything you could need for basic self catering. The lounge/dining area was ok for our family of 6, however with just one sofa bed & a couple of fold out "comfy chairs" I'm not sure how well it would accommodate 8 people. Bedrooms were spot on, beds were very comfortable, although the pillows weren't!

The boot room in the basement was great, although I'm not sure it was heated, but it was really useful being able to store everything downstairs on the way back from skiing. Parking was fabulous - definitely recommend booking the underground parking if you drive. The reception staff were fantastic, extremely helpful & the breakfast bread/croissant delivery was fantastic.

The owners were a pleasure to deal with - providing outstanding information, directions, maps & advice & very prompt to reply to any queries etc.

We would definitely return but would take our own pillows next time!

Great Holiday

Cosy apartment in great location

We had an amazing stay at Scott & Gill's apartment in March 2017. It is perfectly situated for the lifts and is a comfortable, relaxing place to be, especially on the balcony in the late afternoon sunshine.

It could use a bit more ventilation as we all woke up with blocked noses and dry mouths every morning, but the showers are nice, beds comfy and facilities/storage are fine.

The building is well run and Gill and Scott were very helpful hosts.

Tignes shares the large well linked ski area called L'Espace Killy with Val d'Isere and has over 300km of pistes, 150 shops, 115 bars, numerous ski schools including ESF, BASS and Alliance Snowboarding. Renowned for its extensive off-piste, it has become one of Europe's premier resorts.

Due to its altitude Tignes has a very good snow record which has made it one of the most reliable ski-resorts in Europe both for skiing and snowboarding.

L’Espace Killy boasts a fast and efficient lift system with 97 lifts and all skiing standards are catered for with several free lifts on the beginner slopes. For the more adventurous the incredible off-piste also has unusually good lift access.

Also there is a half pipe, boarder cross course, some great freeriding, ice diving, dog sledding on the lake, hang gliding, skidoo riding, ice climbing, parascending, skating, snowshoeing, indoor tennis and heliskiing.

In the summer there are 16 lifts and 20 km of pistes available as well as a huge amount of summer sport activities. There is also Acroland where people on snowboards, ski's and roller blades hurl themselves off one of the four jumps and flying straight into the lake. And there is always the challenge of the highest golf course in Europe.
