Comfortable stone cottage in the Auxois Near Semur / Dijon / Beaune.

Updated: 24-Oct-2016
Charming cottage, well situated to make the most of the area.

Originally renovated as the owners home 'La Cachette' provides comfortable accommodation for 4/5, with beautiful views of the Auxois. Having moved to another house nearby, we are delighted to offer 'la cachette' as holiday accomodation.

Downstairs a very well equipped kitchen (gaz hob, electric cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher,..) open plan with a dining room sitting 5 people confortably.

A comfortable sitting room with beams and flagstones, wood stove, sofa and armchairs, where you can relax, watch TV or listen to music. From there few steps up will lead you to a lovely private sunny garden opening onto a larger garden.

Upstairs, 2 spacious comfortable bedrooms with double bed and views of the garden, a bathroom with toilets, a mezzanine with a single bed which can be used as an extra bedroom.

Also downstairs a shower room with toilet.

Centrally located and within an easy reach of all the major tourist towns of the region Dijon, Beaune, Auxerre, Semur en Auxois, Chablis, Saulieu, Vezelay, Autun, Alésia and the entire Côte de Beaune and Côtes de Nuits wine areas are all within an hours drive (or much closer).

You'll be on the edge of the Morvan Regional Park with its pine forests, clean lakes for swimming ,boating and fishing and seemingly endless network of MTB and walking trails..

In addition, we're delighted to present something a bit different, with services offered beyond just the accommodation to maximise your enjoyment of this fantastic region.

Birdwatching, Nature walks( foraging) and Road cycling (or MTB) excursions can be arranged with the owner (who is a local guide) these may be for a 1/2 day, or a full day with picnic ,or even week long programmes for an additional charge.

Nearby, there's a pizzeria / restaurant / bar in the next village (4km), a velo' voie verte' cycle route runs alongside the Burgundy canal (1km) as far as Dijon( 70kms) if you have the energy.

Golf 10 mins or 20mins for an 18 hole course at the Chateau de Chailly.

Beds are made up and towels are included.

Comfortable, well equipped property with pleasant and helpful owners nearby

  • 5 of 5

Well presented, comfortable and spacious property. A tasteful conversion of an original stone cottage, well equipped with everything necessary for a self catering stay.

Two large double bedrooms plus a mezzanine with a single. Large living room and kitchen, garden and patio area with BBQ.

A good area for walking, cycling and peace and quiet with a varied selection of restaurants nearby.

Excellent property at a good price.

Feels like home!

  • 5 of 5

La Cachette is a delightful, clean, well-eqipped and comfortable gite in the heart of Burgundy. We stayed here for a fortnight in June, which we booked having enjoyed our holiday so much in this property last year. It's always a gamble to repeat such a happy experience, but we were by no means disappointed. Agnes was as welcoming and helpful as ever and the two weeks went by far too quickly. There are some lovely villages in the area and we had the opportunity to explore them in greater depth this time. We plan to return for another stay next year.

Exceeded expectations!

  • 5 of 5

This property was the owners home- and it shows in the quality and attention to detail of the interior. It is spacious and well equippped, tastefully decorated and very comfortable. The photos don't do it justice. Agnes has worked in tourism for many years so knows how to look after her guests. There are even some UK TV channels and good broadband.

It's peaceful with good views and a lovely garden. The problem is that we only stayed a week.

Fantastic gite in a beautiful setting

  • 5 of 5

The gite is fabulous and felt home from home whilst keeping a rustic feel. The views were beautiful and the setting and location ideal for exploring the Burgundy region. Agnès and Tim are a lovely couple and made sure we were settled and happy to help with all sorts of things. We had a breakdown whilst staying and the car was in the garage - Agnès cancelled what she had on and took us out for the afternoon - we were extremely grateful to her and had a great time. We would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a gite in a rural area.

This is our second visit to La Cachette, and we were not dissappointed we had 2 wonderful weeks in this delightful ,well appointed house .Agnes and Tim take great pride in their property and beautiful garden .Lots to see and do in the area .Michael enjoyed his outings with Tim ,bird watching and a tour of the Resistance in The Morvan.

We found it great to have access to English speakers nearby ,who could give us some useful local tips etc!

The house is very comfortable and extremely clean,a delight to return to after a day out exploring!

Beautiful cottage, perfect for unwinding

  • 5 of 5

The wonderful warm welcome from Agnes is the perfect way to start a holiday, and the cottage is as lovely as the photos show! It really does feel like a home from home, and we particularly enjoyed the space - the cottage is cleverly renovated, and beautifully maintained. The garden was also a lovely place to relax, and the patio area to the rear is a very pleasant place to have outside meals. Agnes and Tim were unfailingly helpful with local information, from mountain biking areas to swimming lakes, restaurants and markets, vineyards and brocantes! Many, many thanks for an excellent holiday!
