Overview

About the property

High End Design and Furnishings, Ideal for Large Groups. Free Wifi.

Only a 500m walk to the secluded, sandy beaches in Pessada, this large, magnificently appointed and luxurious villa is one of the newest on the island of Kefalonia. With an open floor plan, this 320 m² villa offers many places to gather or retreat. With 5 bedrooms, 4 full baths and 2 separate living rooms, it is large enough to accommodate two families very comfortably. There is air conditioning in every room of the villa. There are two large screen TVs with a library of over 100 movies, satellite programming and Free WiFi throughout.

On the outside, the covered veranda offers a dining area for 10 and a comfortable seating set for relaxing with a drink or playing cards. Just a few steps away is a 50m² pool with lounge chairs and umbrellas. All this with incredible views of the sea and the occasionally anchored yacht enjoying the same peace and tranquility as you are. Views to the South include Spartia beach and the island of Zakynthos across the Ionian Sea. Looking to the north provides a full view of Mount Ainos, the tallest mountain on Kefalonia.

Throughout the property are gardens of Lavender, Jasmine, Bougainvillaeas, Oleander and Rosemary. Additionally, there are groves of olive trees and citrus trees. Depending on the season, you are welcome to enjoy lemons, oranges or grapefruits right from the trees. They are still small trees but they are growing fast.

The villa is conveniently located to many island activities. You can take a peaceful walk along the rural roads and paths of this cliffside village. Within 10 minutes, you can walk to the secluded coves that make up the small beaches in Pessada. Nearby, you can walk to the port in Pessada where you can have a souvlaki and beer at the outdoor cantina.

Within a 10-minute drive, you can visit St. George's castle, built in the early 16th century. Within a 15-minute drive, you can visit the monastery of Saint Gerasimos for a glimpse of its ornate interior and the mummified body of the saint himself. Argostoli, the capital of Kefalonia, can also be reached with a 15-minute drive. You can visit Argostoli for the fruit markets, souvenirs, bakeries, cafes or many wonderful restaurants. Be sure to spend an evening in the square where you can have an ice cream, frappe, crepe or mixed drink while watching the town come alive and gather. Other notable drives include a visit to the underground Lake Mellisani and Dragorati Cave. It is a beautifully scenic drive to Myrtos Beach and the picturesque towns of Assos, Fiskardo and Sami.

We welcome you to enjoy our home as much as we do on the idyllic Greek island of Kefalonia.

About George and Rebecca

I am a Greek American with deep roots in Kefalonia. My father was born and raised on this idyllic island and still lives there today. Both our sons were baptized in Kefalonia and we continue to visit the island every summer. My wife and I love the spirit and beauty of this island so much that we decided to own a piece of paradise.

George and Rebecca purchased this villa in 2012

Why George and Rebecca chose Pesada

When my wife and I first saw this property, it was a small olive grove. We fell in love with the peace and tranquility that enveloped the plot. With a panoramic view of the Ionian Sea to the south and Mount Ainos to the North, the home is truly surrounded by beauty.

What makes this villa unique

With an unobstructed view of the sea, Villa Pessada provides a sensation that you are on the bow of ship, alone on the ocean. We have taken the time to create an atmosphere of luxury and serenity when we built our home in Pessada. We would love to share this experience with you.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We were the first people to stay in this beautiful villa and we were so very impressed. Everything had been thought of: the kitchen was so well equipped, the bedding was superb and all the facilities were first class. Everything is scrupulously clean. This is not a five star villa - it is at least an eight star! Extremely well finished and a beautiful location for a villa holiday. The views are breathtaking.

George (Senior) and his wife Maria were lovely -very helpful, welcoming with glorious Greek hospitality. Lorna and Ray the Managers were also very helpful. All the transactions with George (Jr) and his wife Rebecca were also smooth and trouble free. They are a lovely family who care about their customers.

We will definitely return and also recommend to everyone we know. Thanks to the Totolos Family for building and making such a fantastic and idyllic place to stay.

An elegant, spacious, secluded getaway

  • 5 of 5

Much has already been said about the space and elegance this property offers, but it's worth repeating. The villa is a high-spec, well maintained, very spacious property that suited our party (4 couples and 1 single) perfectly.

The design of the house feels familiar for those used to American properties and it all works really well, from the large kitchen at the centre of the ground floor, to the large dining area and multiple lounges.

But it is the exterior where the villa really comes into its own. It has a fantastic veranda/deck with seating for everyone to drink in the views and while the evenings away. It has a really good-sized, really well maintained pool for a Greek property and with its position overlooking the sea towards Zakynthos, there is very little one would want to change.

The only thing we would suggest to improve the overall experience for guests, is to encourage other guests to make/leave suggestions of restaurants, beaches and sites within the locality. We used Trip Advisor to help us decide where to eat but would have welcomed recommendations from previous guests.

All in all, a splendid villa in a beautiful location.

Perfect Pessada!

  • 5 of 5

We spent a glorious fortnight at this lovely villa: six adults and four small and very lively children. It is a spacious, gracious house, very well-equipped, with a large and attractive garden and a pool which has a generous tiled surround; plenty of room for the young to play and swim to their hearts' content and for the grown-ups to lie and back and soak up the rays!

Now for the outlook... Thanks to the villa's elevated setting, we were able to enjoy wonderful views along the south coast of Kefalonia, back to the mountains and across the water to Zakynthos.

We were made very welcome by the English caretakers who met us at the airport, showed us the ropes when we reached the villa and continued to look after us at intervals during our stay.

The Kefalonians whom we encountered were without exception, warmly welcoming and delightfully humorous.

The villa is tucked away in peaceful seclusion. We soon found our bearings and were able to get out and about for shopping and sightseeing with little difficulty. One must always bear in mind the fact that Kefalonian roads rarely if ever follow the example of the crow! As this makes clear, a car is pretty well essential, not only for exploring but also for shopping and eating out.

All in all, we couldn't have asked for better.

Beautiful villa with stunning views

  • 4 of 5

This was our first time in Kefelonia.

The island is beautiful with some truly incredible scenery. The roads are fantastic fun if you like driving - if you're a nervous driver you may find them slightly nerve wracking.

From when we booked the villa we have been in contact with George who has been great at answering questions and helping with recommendations and information. As all the other reviews have said, we were collected from the airport, shown around the vila, and made aware of how to use the various appliances. This involved a bit of waiting around while hire cars were collected but this was not a problem.

We booked this villa to accommodate 10 of us, 9 adults and a 1 year old. We were certainly not short of space! The villa is very spacious and provides enough room for big family meals, as well as for everyone to find some quite space when needed.

The bedrooms are all a good size, with the 2 masters being huge! The beds were comfortable and the villa is quiet at night so a good nights sleep was had by all.

On the days we stayed 'home' the pool area was a fantastic place to soak up the sun. It's now well fenced off, the gardens have grown in, and the view is stunning! The pool itself is a good size and has a good range of depth - over 2m at the deep end so plenty of room for jumping in. The steps gave my little girl plenty of confidence and by the end of the week she was happy to climb in to the pool and swim back to the step to get out.

There are 2 huge TV's available, one with an Xbox and both have a selection of films. We didn't use any of this, but it was nice to know we had some entertainment should we have needed it. There is also a system to allow you to play music both in the house and out to the pool, however despite some quite detailed instructions, we could not make this work reliably. We didn't think this was a big enough issue to warrant contacting George.

The kitchen is well equipped and was ample for preparing meals for everyone. The dining table on the terrace was a lovely place to enjoy a meal. There's a second dining table inside however we only used this for playing cards around one evening when the bugs were feeling particularly ferocious!

Ultimately I've only knocked a star off due to being very picky. Some of the kitchen and bathroom bits weren't clean, and some of the mats (especially between the pool and house) were quite soiled. But overall the villa was lovely, inviting, and well maintained.

Owner's Response: Joe, We are very pleased to hear how much you loved our villa and the island of Kefalonia. I am sorry to hear that you felt a few areas of the villa were not as clean as they should be. We have taken immediate steps to assure this does not happen again. Thanks for bringing it to our attention. All the best, George

Pessada is a small traditional Greek village, situated on the south coast of Kefalonia with a small ferry port and a fishing harbour. It is a lovely rural village with a variety of flora growing wild as well as adorning the gardens of the local village houses. Breathe in the heady herbal scents and listen out for the tinkling of goat bells. Pessada is also famous on the island for its seafaring traditions which brought its prosperity and small secluded coves can be found nearby for a spot of fishing.

The Divino winery in Pessada is open to the public for viewing with guided tours and wine-tasting on offer. Over a dozen different wines are available to buy direct from the winery. Divino was established in 1986 in the village of Pessada when a 17th century family winery was restored. The winemaker is particularly interested in producing sweet, semi-sweet and semi-dry wines. This was the first winery to produce sweet White Muscat of Kefalonia. The grapes are sun-dried in the restored stone linos where traditionally grapes were trodden.

Pessada is also the home of the Kefalonia Game Farm where a variety of birds such as pheasant and quail are raised for hunters from all over Europe.

This beautiful villa is situated right on the edge of the village of Pessada. It has panoramic view of the Ionian Sea and Mount Ainos. While a car is recommended to fully enjoy the island, you will be happy to find that a few small, sandy beaches are only a 500m walk from the property.

On the southern coast, Pessada has a ferry port that provides the only only connection to the island of Zakynthos, also known as Zante, for additional sight-seeing. It is just a 15 minute drive to to the airport and Argostoli, the capital of Kefalonia. You can visit Argostoli for the fruit markets, souvenirs, bakeries, cafes or many wonderful restaurants.
