Restored Stone House In Tranquil Greek Village 2 Km From The Sea

Annousa’s House is a stone-built village house full of character and history. The large front balcony looks westwards over the sea, which lies just 2 km down from the house's location in the peaceful mountainside village of Kallirahi on the island of Thasos. At the back, a part-shaded courtyard provides an outdoor living area, complete with old oven which can be used for barbecues.

Four well-appointed bedrooms (two with en suite bathroom), sleeping eight, three bathrooms and the huge open and airy living room with fully equipped kitchen and three different seating areas make Annousa’s House the ideal holiday home for a large family, two families or a group of friends, who don't want to feel on top of one another.

Enjoy a glass of wine on the balcony and absorb some of the peace and beauty around you. The view encompasses the sunset over the seascape as the sun drops behind the distant mountains of the mainland to the west. To the left, the steep slope of Petrolaki refreshes your senses with a riot of greens from olive trees, kedros oak, overrun vines and wild herbs.

The courtyard at the back of the house provides more space to relax in. It catches the morning sun but the table is shaded. The old oven can be used for barbecues.

Indoors, two fire-places are the focus of seating areas, while the dining table doubles as another games table. Cards, chess, draughts and backgammon are provided, as are the Wi-Fi connection and cable television.

We also provide masks and flippers so that you can enjoy some snorkelling and perhaps catch sight of (or catch!) a lurking octopus or two. (Tip: Look for the little stone wall they build around their homes under the rocks.)

In neighbouring villages you can find a riding stables and mountain-bikes for rent. Archaeological sites abound; walk up to the ancient theatre in Limenas (Thasos Town) and then continue up past the Byzantine fortress to the ancient 'acropoli' of Thasos, once sheathed in gold (mined locally) according to ancient reports.

Going on our 8th and final day at Annousa's House. What a fantastic stay we had, definitely the only place to be on Thasos. The village of Kallirahi is a gem in itself, we couldn't be happier with our holiday!

the property is a beautiful village house in a lovely old Greek hillside village. The house has been fully and authentically renovated and is clean, tasteful and very comfortable. The view from the terrace is wonderful, and the outdoor eating space with BBQ is perfect for meals. Sarah is a warm and delightful host who went out of her way to make everything easy and invited us to a superb dinner. Thank you!!

Early June in Thasos was perfect. The uncrowded beaches are clean and the water just warm enough to swim. The wooded hillsides smell heavenly.

We loved staying in the village of Kallirahi with friendly - although sometimes the fast Greek chatter was a bit noisy- neighbors. Going out every morning to buy fresh bread, cheese and tomatoes for breakfast was an opportunity for a Greek lesson from the baker and mini market owner.

Anoussa's House is as lovely as its photos. It is an old stone house with local character, and renovated to provide all the creature comforts one needs. It is clean, fully equipped, and comfortably decorated- tastefully, too (a bit unusual!). We enjoyed an afternoon tea on the balcony overlooking the sea, and breakfast under the trellis in the stone courtyard, where a honeysuckle sweetens the air. The house felt a little big for the four of us. With the large living room and four bedrooms, it can easily accommodate eight people.

Sarah was an attentive and gracious host, even if not there. She responds quickly to any communication, and made good suggestions, such as walking up to the mountaintop church.

This was one of the best vacation rental experiences we had. I you like to experience a bit of the local life and avoid packaged tourism, this is where you want to be.

Wonderful house with a great atmosphere!

Annousas house was a wonderful place for our holidays, with a great atmosphere, warm welcome, gorgeous view and sunsets,with very clean and large rooms with a lovely accomodation, a well-tempered pergola, well-sorted kitchen equipment for culinary dinners, atmospheric completed with a selection of opera music and movies. Thassos is a very beautiful island with lovely beaches as well as montains.

If a break in an authentic Northern Greek stone house appeals to you - then look no further. Here you will find stone walls, wooden beams, a fireplace, al fresco dining and a wide balcony looking down the hill to the sea and mainland in the middle-distance. However, the age of this lovely home does not preclude a modern kitchen and bathrooms with all that you would expect at home.

We passed an excellent holiday touring the beautiful coast and interior of Thassos and took in village markets, archaeological sites and the excellent Thassos Town Museum. We swam on quiet and crowded beaches. Dined under the pines or quite often returned home to watch the sun go down from the balcony of Annousa's House.

We passed a lovely holiday here and we think travellers who prefer to get off the well-trodden path will find Annousa's House delightful and appealing.

Relax in a beautifully restored stone village house and enjoy the view of sunsets over the sea from the large balcony. Only 2km from the sea, nestling on the hillside, Kallirahi is a peaceful haven off the beaten track.

Thasos is the “emerald isle” of the Aegean Sea. Pine forests and olive groves sweep down to the brink of the crystal clear sea. Wild thyme gives purple hues to the roadside.

Thassos has something for everyone: sea and mountain, archaeology and neon night life. Mountain biking, horse riding, sail surfing are all offered close by.

Beaches, long and sandy or little coves, lace the island's coastline. Many are organised with sunbeds, bars and plenty of water activities. Others are relatively unfrequented. The sea, turquoise blue, takes your breath away.

The island’s 'interior', the pine and olive covered mountains will also enchant the walker, painter, photographer, in short any lover of nature. Brilliant off-road cycling (and bicycle hire) available.

The ancient theatre and other venues offer a variety of entertainments, from ancient Greek drama to rock concerts. A vibrant night life can be found along the coast from Kallirahi in the tourist centres of Limenas, Limenaria and Potos.
