Luxury Villa with Private Pool set In The Enchanting Countryside Of Noto Antica

Overview

Property

Updated: 01-Dec-2016
2 bedrooms 2 bathrooms, swimming pool, large garden and stunning views

Finely restored ancient farmhouse and newly restored annex if required. (Including the annex, the villa can sleep up to 10, further details on request) retaining period features, The villa has been restored from an ancient typical sicilian farmhouse respecting the style of the local architecture and using the traditional materials.

The house is very comfortable in the summer as well as in winter time. In the summer, the very thick walls and the high ceilings typical of the sicilian farmhouses keep the house fresh and cool. There is a beautiful veranda with a view on the surrounding countryside down to the sea. The veranda is very large with a space close to the kitchen were you can easily take your meals. In the winter, we use to enjoy the fire place of the living room at evening, in case there is also a central heating system with large veranda and gorgeous views over the surrounding hills, a gardens of approx 2 hectares with olive trees, carob and fruit.

In the middle of the countryside, the place is so relaxing, but in the surroundings there is so much to do. The baroque towns of Noto and Modica, the greek ruins of Eloro, the beaches at the sea, the Natural Reserve of Vendicari with its herons, the Natural Reserve of Cava Grande where you can dive in the natural pools and gorges shaped in to the rock by the water, the town of Siracusa(extract from reviews)

A lovely villa

  • 4 of 5

We stayed with two adult children in late September. The villa is in a great position, well kitted out, and with a long pool. You do need a car. Ideal for visiting beautiful baroque towns several of which are World Heritage sites. We would particularly recommend Ortigia (Old Siracusa), and if you like Inspector Montalbano then you can see his office in Scicli (worth a visit anyway). There's a lovely walk from the door to Noto Antica, and an energetic walk nearby down the Cava Grande (take a swimsuit). Visit the Vendicaria bird reserve - we saw several flamingos there. On the same day go to Villa Terralo where there are some wonderful Roman mosaics. There was too much to do in the time available and on the hotter days we were content to imitate the lizards on the terrace. There is a shaded area on the terrace for eating al fresco. Being fairly high up there is the occasional breeze and it's usually a couple of degrees cooler than in Noto. There is no restaurant nearby but it's only ten minutes drive from Noto where there are several. The owner and her house managers were very helpful, and we even got some lovely eggs from the managers' hens. I would definitely recommend it.

Fantastic villa in beautiful countryside.

  • 5 of 5

The villa was clean, comfortable and well equipped. The pool is the longest we've had in any previous holiday villa. Views across the countryside to the ancient ruins of Noto Antica are lovely, well worth the short drive for an evening stroll. There are lots of places to visit around. Our highlights were strolling through the old town of Ortiga which had our favourite restaurant "Sicilia In Tavola". Tip- don't try and take your car into the old town, there's nowhere to park. Roman amphitheatre at Palazzolo is amazing and you can see Etna in the distance. We went to a wine tour at the "Planeta" winery which introduced us to the delights of Sicilian wines. Noto is worth a visit and good for ice cream. We snorkelled at Vendicari. Modica is impressive but don't go on a Thursday lunchtime, all the restaurants were shut!

Janice was very helpful and I would definitely recommend this villa and Sicily to anyone.

Luxury rural retreat

  • 5 of 5

This villa is superb. All of the previous reviews describe the villa perfectly. We were a family of 4 with 2 small children who very much enjoyed swimming in the large pool whilst we were able to relax and enjoy the spectacular pool side views.

The villa is well equipped , immaculate and has been restored very sensitively. The thick walls make it cool inside whilst there are plenty of places to sit and enjoy the sunshine on the patio. High quality bed linen and towels provided.

We met the delightful italian caretakers once when they arrived to clean the pool midweek.

We visited all of the places mentioned previously. The main entrance to Cave Grande is still closed but there is alternative access which is actually closer to the villa , directions to which are on the Cave Grande website.

The drive to Noto takes about 20 minutes.

We did all of our shopping in the supermarket and local shops in Noto, there are excellent fresh fruit and veg stalls opposite the supermarket , a shop selling local wine directly from the barrel just down the road and a petrol station close by. There is also safe free parking in the street immediately beyond the supermarket which is only about 5 minutes walk to the main access to the old town through the Porta Grande. Hence we were able to stock up on provisions then join the excellent passiagta for a gelato before returning home to enjoy a glass or two of wine on the patio.

All of our communication with the owner was prompt and extremely helpful.

We have already decided to return to the villa next year because there is so much more in the area to explore from an absolutely perfect base

Tranquillity in a beautiful location and property

  • 5 of 5

A beautifully quiet and peaceful location and property. In the evening, all you hear is the chirruping of the cicadas and the occasional barking of a distant dog. In the day, you simply add the sound of goats’ bells and the shout of a shepherd.

The property itself is really good. The pool provides the day-time location for lazy reading with the odd dip to cool off and a cool evening rendezvous for pre-dinner drinks. The front porch makes for baking-hot sun-bathing, if you like, and then it’s the place to sit and gaze at the stars and put the world to rights later in the evening. Thick walls make for a cool interior and quite air conditioning makes for comfortable nights.

There’s more than enough to do for day-time excursions. Others have listed the places: Vendicari, Noto, Marzamemi, Siracusa, Catania, Modica, Ragusa, and so on.

We had no problems with pre-booked car rental pickup. Everything was smooth and sweet.

If you want to get away from it all, this is the place to come.

A wonderful vacation spot!

  • 5 of 5

We have truly enjoyed our stay in Villa Terzuoli. Its location in an absolute calm, beautiful and big swimming pool, comfortable bedrooms (with air-conditioning!) made out vacations perfect. The property is very clean and well maintained, the small amenities (like towels, tableware, bed sheets) were all excellent quality.

Even if we havent personally met the host, he was always easy to reach and eager to help.

We highly recommend Villa Terzuoli and hope to come back there soon!

The perfect place to relax and unwind

  • 5 of 5

Villa Terzuoli is set in large grounds with plenty of space to enjoy some relaxing “me time” under a shady tree, by the swimming pool or on the veranda . Even though there were 5 adults in our party it never felt claustrophobic. It is a peaceful spot away from the noise of daily life with the loudest sounds coming from the goats’ bells as they head to and from pasture twice a day! The views are varied and panoramic from every vantage of the property adding to the overall sense of wellbeing. We visited an excellent restaurant ,Borgo Alveria, just a 10 minute drive from the property but most meals were taken on the well appointed veranda enjoying local produce and wines.

The villa itself has been sensitively restored, retaining its local charm whilst offering modern bathroom facilities and a good wifi connection. There were sun loungers by the pool as well as shaded seating and further loungers and seating on the veranda. The pool itself was surprisingly long and we were able to swim lengths. The property is immaculately maintained by the owners who were very responsive and have local caretakers who were friendly and attentive .

A wonderful place to create that elusive sense of calm in our hectic lives.
