About the property

Four en suite bedrooms and open plan living area

The chalet has three floors covering 240sq m and the four bedrooms can sleep 10. The upper floor has two bedrooms sharing a balcony. There is also a study area. The lower floor has a laundry room and the two other bedrooms one of which is a family room. The open plan living area has a log fire and comfortable seating. The dining area seats 12. The luxury kitchen is fully fitted out. French doors open onto the main balcony equipped with a table and chairs. On this, the ground floor, there is also a large entrance hall and WC. There is under floor central heating and the boiler provides plenty of hot water. All the rooms are south facing. The large flat garden has a patio with a table and seating. The chalet has a car port and additional off road parking for 2-3 cars.

Leysin has been noted for its sunny climate for over 100 years and is situated on a plateau 1250m above sea level with southerly views of the Dents du Midi across the Rhone valley. The village is readily accessible by road but also by train using the Aigle - Leysin narrow gauge railway. In winter, skiing is the main attraction with both downhill and cross country and there is a snow park with a half-pipe and jumps for adventurous skiers and snowboarders. A free bus service also links Leysin with the nearby resorts of Les Mosses and La Lecherette providing 100km of runs. Further afield the resort of Les Diablerets (25mins by car) links with Villars and high altitude skiing can be found on the nearby glacier (Glacier 3000). There is also a skating rink and toboggan park. In summer there are plenty of well marked hiking trails and many mountain bike downhill runs and trails. Mountaineering and via ferrata can also be experienced. In the village there are tennis courts both indoors and outdoors, an indoor swimming pool and a horse riding school.

At the top of the telecabine on the Berneuse (2048m) is the famous Kuklos rotating restaurant offering a 360degree panoramic view of the local mountains and Lake Geneva. Aigle castle houses a museum of wine and wine-making. There are golf courses at Aigle and Villars and a water park on the banks of Lake Geneva.

Leysin is a perfect place for energetic holidays or simply a relaxing time in the mountains.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Once again we had a wonderful time at your chalet. The place has such a welcome feel to it. This is our third stay and even though our second child has just gradulated from LAS and we won't have children to come and visit here, they will still be asking us to make a return visit. This mountain has been a big part of our lives for six years. We are sure to visit again.

Exceeded ALL expectations - 5 STARS

We have recently come back from Chalet le Murier and we miss it already. We hired this to celebrate my Inlaws golden wedding anniversary - So it was a mixture of ages. This was truly an exceptional house and felt like a real home. Loved all the personal touches from the owners. Perfect for families of all ages. Very spacious and easy to keep clean. Slippers were even provided. There was even some suncream (for which we were so thankful for as we had sun for the whole week - unexpected). The bedrooms were lovely, spacious and had plenty of lovely soaps and toiletries. We had the master bedroom and felt spoilt with that huge bath. Plenty of towels and linen. The beds were so comfortable and I now want a new mattress at home, just the same. The kitchen had every pot, pan, dish, utensil etc you would need..and more. The cupboards were very well stocked and had all the herbs and spices you need, and many other larder items. For a large group of us, we never felt on top of each other as there was so much space. All the mod cons of wifi and sky TV if that's your thing. The view was amazing from the terrace.

We went up to the ski resort and managed to do a bit of sledging - some of our group live in Australia and this was their first experience of snow. The cable cars are only 5 mins from the chalet.

Leysin itself is lovely. Some of us took a few hikes each morning. There is also a small sized play park in Leysin, about 10 mins walk from the chalet which our kids aged 10-14 loved. We went for a day trip to the Labirythe Adventure which is ideal for kids of all ages. They did not want to leave. Although, this is not open in the winter as it's an outdoor park... It's pricey, but worth it.

Last but not Least, the owners could not have been more helpful and we were even given a welcome gift. Lovely people to speak with and always able to help. They clearly take pride in this home and love to share it with others.

Overall, we would return in a heartbeat if we could. THANK YOU to the owners.

Exceptional

We had an incredible time at the chalet, five star accommodation which remains homely and comfortable. Everything you could need is provided at a high standard. The open plan kitchen and living area is fabulous and seats everyone comfortably. Every room is ensuite and beds are almost too comfortable that getting out of them in the morning proves difficult! We found it hard to leave and will return as soon as possible. Thanks to our hosts for a wonderful stay, all your help and advice and our welcome gift!

An outstanding home in wonderful location

  • 5 of 5

Came from Ireland on first visit to Switzerland. Found it so easy to get there - get train at Geneva airport to Aigle and then the cog train to Leysin. It was a beautiful trip along lake Geneva and up the mountain to Leysin.

Chalet le murier is located on the outskirts of the village and convenient to ski lift, tourist office,supermarkets,pubs/restaurants,sporting facilities, bus and train stations etc.-all within easy walking distance.

There are stunning views from the chalet of the valley and mountains.

The chalet was beautiful, spacious, clean, and homely. From the front hall through the kitchen, living area, bedrooms, bathrooms to the verandas and patio - all were fully kitted out to a very high standard.

The owners Pat and Sidney were most helpful and facilitated us in every way possible.

We got beautiful weather for the two weeks except for one day when it snowed for the entire day ( we lit the lovely log fire) and another of rain accompanied by thunder and lightening. This was very spectacular. We had a barbecue some evenings.

The countryside is a walkers and bikers paradise. The mountain walks and trails are numerous and truly awesome and some are a must do - le Berneuse, with its revolving restaurant Le Kuklos, at 2030mtrs (by cable car),la Prafanda and all the designated viewing areas are well worth the effort. We found the walk to Aigle via the mountain trail and vineyards very interesting and memorable. The lower slopes and meadows were awash with flora and fauna. The array and volume of flowers, grasses and plants was very impressive. We also enjoyed a trip to Montreux and a boat trip on lake Geneva. We found public transport to be very good and efficient. The regional pass is very useful and economical for those intending to use the system.

Overall we had a most enjoyable time. We highly recommend the chalet to our friends and look forward to return visit .

Beautifully Appointed and Situated Chalet

  • 5 of 5

We have just spent an amazing two weeks in this scenic part of the world. Have had some good spring weather and enjoyed the peace and quiet of the place. The chalet is modern, spacious, clean, extremely comfortable and very well specced. Lovely views and close to all the amenities and a great base for walking. Pat and Sid are very helpful through the whole process. Would highly recommend the chalet and it would be a great location for a skiing holiday with the lift station a short walk away.
